"So many pups to meet at 101 Dalmatian Street!"
Hundreds of dog years ago (about sixty in human years) in London there lived a bustling, loving and fun family of one-hundred-and-one Dalmatians who won the hearts of millions. Now in the present day London a new set of Dalmatians, just as numerous as the first, are here to continue their legacy, love their family and, most of all, chase the postman.
101 Dalmatian Street is a spin-off, albeit a loose one, of Disney’s 1961 film 101 Dalmatians (Not to be confused with the 1997-8 cartoon 101 Dalmatians: The Series which is a direct spin-off), set in the present day at, wait for it, 101 Dalmatian Street, Camden Town, London. The show mostly follows the antics of the two eldest puppies Dylan (Josh Brener), a nerdy, pedantic neat freak, and Dolly (Michaela Dietz), a reckless, sporty tomboy, as they look after their 97 siblings while dad Doug (Rhashan Stone) and mom Delilah (Ella Kenion) are at work.
While all the other pups have names only a few of them have established personalities. They include science geek Dawkins, the three divas Destiny, Dallas and Deja Vu, perpetually paranoid Dante, musician DJ, meditating butt monkey Deepak, digging mad Diesel, baby Dorothy, artist Da Vinci, speed-freak Delgado and the troublemaking pair Dizzy and Dee Dee. As you may gathered all the Dalmatians, and most other animal characters, have alliterative names.
This show can be described as 101 Dalmatians meets The Loud House.
This series contains examples of:[]
- Alliterative Name: Most of the cast have one either by species, e.g. Dylan Dalmatian, species nickname, e.g. Spencer Sausage Dog or occupation, e.g. Geoffrey the Guide Dog.
- Alternate Continuity: This show takes place several decades after the original animated film ended, giving this show its own separate continuity where neither the 1997 animated series, the live action 102 Dalmatians film, nor 101 Dalmatians II: Patch's London Adventure ever happened.
- Catchphrase: Dylan when under stress repeats "Oh my dog!" frantically to himself, Dolly when doing a trick has "Bow whacka wow!" and Dawkins when he realizes something bad is about to happen says "Oh, kibbles."
- Gender Blender Name: Da Vinci, the artistic puppy, is a girl who was named after a famous male artist.
- Heel Face Turn: Happens to Hunter in the Season 1 finale.
- Masculine Girl, Feminine Boy: Dolly and Dylan, respectively.
- Middle Child Syndrome: Dawkins, according to Word of God.
- Unexplained Accent: Some of the puppies don't have British accents, which is justified for Doug's kids, but zig-zagged with Delilah's kids.
