Pongo

• Beta Couple: He and Perdita to Roger and Anita. ...Or vice versa.

• Papa Wolf
• Shipper on Deck: Subverted; although he actively works as matchmaker for Roger and Anita, he doesn't specifically ship them, he just wants Roger to end up with somebody.

Missis/Perdita

• Beta Couple: She and Pongo to their humans. ...Or vice versa.
• Brainless Beauty: Missis
• Composite Character: Missis was Pongo's wife in the books. Perdita was another dog to nurse the puppies. The movies and TV series made them one character (Perdita)
• Demoted to Extra: In the TV series.
• Ill Girl: How Perdita is found in the book.
• Mama Bear

Lucky

• Afraid of Needles: He made this more than obvious in "Spots and Shots".
• Badass Adorable: In the TV show.
• Born Lucky: It's in his name, after all.
• Disney Death: Has one immediately after being born, which gives him his name.
• The Hero: In the series.
• Hey, It's That Voice!: In 101 Dalmatians: The Series, Lucky is Spinelli
• Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He can be a huge dick sometimes but he truly cares about his family and friends.
• Large Ham: Has his moments in the TV series.
• Meaningful Name: The spots on his back are arranged in a "lucky" horseshoe pattern.
• The Runt At the End: In the 1961 and 1996 movies.
• Small Name, Big Ego

Cadpig

• Beware the Nice Ones

• The Chick: Cadpig is the most feminine of the main four.
• Kawaiiko
• Little Miss Snarker
• Meaningful Name: Her name came from a term used in England for a runt in a litter of pigs. This isn't explained in the TV show.
• Granola Girl

Rolly

• Berserk Button: Don't mess with food in front of him in the animated series, or call him fat.
• Big Eater: He loves food.
• Catch Phrase: "I'm hungry, mother" in the movies, and "Oh, papa!" and "Are you calling me fat?" in the TV series.
• Flanderization: In the books, he was only pudgy and not a big eater. In the movies, he becomes a big eater, and in the TV series, he's pretty much Obsessed with Food.
• The Lancer: In the episode "Dog's Best Friend" Lucky calls him his best friend.

Patch

• Ascended Extra: In the 2003 direct-to-video sequel of the 1961 animated movie
• The Big Guy: In the books and the TV series, where he's more muscular than the other puppies.
• Ensemble Darkhorse: Pretty much any merchandise of the film (not counting the live-action movies) has him on it.
• What Could Have Been: In the TV series, he was originally going to be one of the main puppies, but was demoted to extra due to Disney's fear of having too many major characters.

Penny

• Daddy's Girl
• Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Some fans say she's this for Cadpig in the 1961 animated movie and 2003 sequel.
  • Justified in some foreign language versions of the series. In the Danish dub, Cadpig's name is "Penny".
• What Could Have Been: She was going to appear in the TV series as one of the main pups, along with Lucky, Cadpig, Rolly, Spot, and Patch, but then Disney/Jumbo Pictures thought they'd have too many main characters. Unlike Patch, who became a minor pup, Penny never appeared.

Freckles

• The Cameo: He never appeared in the TV series as a minor pup, however he made a very brief cameo in "You Say it's Your Birthday"
• Meaningful Name: He has a few spits sprinkled around his nose, like freckles.

Pepper

• Viewer Gender Confusion: The only scene where she's addressed by name is in a group scene, leaving some fans to think she was male. However, she is confirmed to be female.

Whizzer

• Canon Immigrant: He was introduced in the 1996 live-action movie and was later added to the TV series.
• Hey, It's That Voice!: In the TV series, he's Chuckie Finster
  • And in the 1997 computer game, Escape from DeVil Manor, he was young Kovu and Randall Weems.
• Meaningful Name: Whizzer pees a lot.
• Potty Failure: His main shtick is that he often leaves puddles wherever he goes.
• Those Two Guys: With Dipstick in the TV show.
• Toilet Humour: Given his weak bladder, he's a literal source for this kind of humor.
• Urine Trouble: He often does this, like to Cruella in the Christmas special.

Dipstick

• Ascended Extra: In 102 Dalmatians, where he's the father of the next generation of puppies.
• Canon Immigrant: He was introduced in the 1996 live-action movie and was later added to the TV series.

• Half-Dressed Cartoon Animal: In the TV series she wears an earring, which raises the question of why her owners would get her pierced.

• Canon Foreigner: He only appears in the TV series.
• Character Development: He starts out as a cocky, kiss-up to Lt. Pug. In "Lucky All-Star", these traits start to fade. It seems zig-zagged throughout the series, but this is mainly due to the mess-up with the airing order.
• Handicapped Badass: He's the most athletic of the pups...and he only has three legs.

• Villain Decay: In the TV series, her only goal is to get the Dearly's off the farm because it's her land, which is nothing compared to how she wants to kill the puppies and make them into a fur coat in the other versions of the franchise. This however, seems to be the result of Moral Guardians not wanting a vicious puppy killer on a saturday morning cartoon.
