File:Akane Iro Ni Somaru Saka 4070.jpg

Junichi Nagase is known around town as the feared "Geno Killer". One day while out for a walk, he saves a girl from some delinquents trying to cause trouble. That girl was Yuuhi Katagiri. In a fit of impulse, Junichi ends up kissing her, only to find out that because his parents saved her father some time ago, she is now engaged to be his fiancee. Yuuhi then starts living in his house to try and assemble a report on Junichi to prove to her father why they shouldn't be married. The rest of Junichi's class goes to great lengths to tease the couple, so as it goes, Hilarity Ensues.

Akane-Iro ni Somaru Saka is an anime based on a Visual Novel by feng. A PS2 port with a new voice cast and no sex scenes, Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka Parallel, was released about a year later. Adapted into a Thirteen Episode Anime for the Fall 2008 season, and eventually an OVA.

Tropes used in Akane-Iro ni Somaru Saka include:
  • Abuse Is Okay When Its Female On Male: Apparently no one cares when Yuuhi beats up Junichi, even when he didn't really do anything wrong.
  • All Just a Dream: Once the OVA ends, there follows a random and unexpected sequence of Akane-iro suddenly becoming a mecha show. It was all in Junichi's head.
  • Anguished Declaration of Love: Yuuhi forces Minato to say one when she suspects Minato may have feelings of love for Junichi, her brother.
  • Anime Theme Song: Two Image Songs apiece for the six main girls in the show, bringing it to a total of twelve.
    • But poor Mikoto...
  • Arranged Marriage
  • Ascended Extra: Two ways. Mikoto Tachibana is a side character in previous game of feng, named Aozora no Mieru Oka. On the other hand Minato and her friend Yocchan appear in next game Hoshizora e Kakaru Hashi, and Yocchan is even promoted in incoming fandisk of that game!
  • Battle Couple: Junichi's parents are almost always seen doing some kind of action movie sequence stuff. His sister also seems to know survival training, although she mentions she spent some years in the jungle with their parents while Junichi stayed home in Japan.
  • Beach Episode: The bonus OVA.
  • Brother-Sister Incest: Junichi and Minato are teased and accused of this by everybody, though they continually deny it. Much incest Ship Tease ensues. In the anime, Minato wins. So they were completely right. But what their blood relation is to each other is not clear in the anime, and when you start looking at the games themselves, it gets dicier.
    • The original PC version, released in late 2007, confirms that they are blood-related.
    • The all-ages PS2 (from which the anime shares its voice cast with) and PSP versions, however, confirm the opposite. In these two versions, they are Not Blood Siblings.
  • Butt Monkey: Junichi, although sometimes he borders The Chew Toy due to the fact that he largely doesn't deserve his reputation.
  • Caught the Heart on His Sleeve: Yuuhi does this to Junichi in episode 10.
  • Catch Phrase: Yuuhi has "I'll have you dead!", a translation of her very formal way of making Ineffectual Death Threats.
    • Nagomi also has her "Well, what's up?", or maybe something similar.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Late in the anime, Karen and Minato both get kind of jealous of Yuuhi once Junichi starts making it clear that he likes her. However, they don't do much besides make some silly excuses, such as not recognizing their relationship, in Karen's case, or not saying much and sulking privately in Minato's case.
  • Covert Pervert: Karen's mind immediately assumes the worst about Yuuhi and Junichi in episode 11. As Nagomi says, "in these situations, the one who gets the most excited is also the dirtiest."
    • Also Junichi.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Nagomi Shiraishi, who claims to be "nine parts tsun and never dere with humans". Of course, she may be an alien. Or rather, they may be aliens.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: Aya Fujimiya, a side character only found in all games.
  • Fan Service: The "Hardcore" OVA. Holy shit.
  • First Kiss: Junichi does this to Yuuhi in the very first episode, while surrounded by classmates. Their friends don't let them (and sometimes each other) forget about it.
  • Fish Out of Water: Yuuhi
  • First Girl Wins: But it still depends on the viewpoint. Minato was technically the first girl in his life, but Yuuhi was the first girl we see. So, it's both averted AND played straight at the same time
  • Friend to All Living Things / Fluffy Tamer: Minato, who makes friends with the bears instead of being devoured.
  • Gainaxing: Tsukasa, oh so much.
  • Hot Springs Episode: With bears.
  • Humongous Mecha: Episode 7 has one. The buildup to it leans towards awesome, then Hilarity Ensues when it turns into a Special Effects Failure.
  • Idiot Hair: Karen has three, one in each direction.
  • Lethal Chef: When Yuuhi cooks, things tend to explode.
  • Love Epiphany: Minato has one of these after seeing Junichi and Yuuhi having a good time later.
  • Megaton Punch: Yuuhi likes to deliver these to Junichi.
  • Noblewoman's Laugh: Karen.
  • Not Blood Siblings: Played with through the adaptations. PlayStation 2 game has this trope, anime has it being hinted at, yet the PC game completely averts this.
  • Ojou: Karen Ayanokouji, complete with Princess Curls and a Noblewoman's Laugh. Tries way too hard to impress. Yuuhi as well, though it's not her dominant character type.
  • Parental Abandonment: Apparently Junichi and Minato are used to their parents never being home. However, we do get to see what the parents are doing from time to time, and they at least send Junichi a birthday present for his birthday. And judging from the house they live in, it seems they are at least showing some token support/love for the kids.
    • In both versions of game, Mitsuki's father is dead, in different situations.
  • Peek-a-Bangs: Nagomi
  • People in Rubber Suits: Karen tries to orchestrate a mock stage show of her versus an octopus monster, which ends up going down in flames. Literally. Yuuhi panicked and set off the fireworks too early.
  • Porn Stash: Yuuhi discovers Junichi's while snooping around his room. Minato knows all his hiding places, to her surprise.
  • Princess Curls: Karen
  • Rapunzel Hair: Karen
  • Sacred First Kiss: Junichi gives Yuuhi her first one without thinking.
  • School Festival: It may not be Ashford Academy, but thanks to Mitsuki's mischief, Junichi gets to pilot a Humongous Mecha... which immediately collapses.
  • School Newspaper Newshound: Tsukasa, the camera-happy type of girl.
  • Sensei-chan: A rare male variant. Also thug before.
  • "Shut Up" Kiss: Yuuhi demands another "first kiss" from Junichi because she felt the first one didn't really count. She then goes on to berate him some more before he does this.
  • Shrouded in Myth: The legends of Junichi's reign as "Geno Killer" are still spreading thanks in no part to his friends, when he's really lazy and mostly harmless.
    • Actually he was a punk with hair dyed gold before. By the time the story begins, however, he isn't.
  • Skinship Grope: As with any Hot Springs Episode, it happens.
  • Student Council President: Mitsuki
  • Theory of Narrative Causality: Discussed. Fuyuhiko mentions that "theory dictates" Yuuhi should be assigned the seat next to Junichi.
  • Thirteen Episode Anime: Including an OVA of the fanservice variety.
  • Tenchi Solution: Lightly implied at the end. They really left it up to the viewers to decide, what would happen.
  • Tsundere: Yuuhi. Enforced by the fact that she's voiced by none other than Rie Kugimiya, despite not being a loli.
    • While Nagomi is the loli role, claiming that she's not dere.
  • Twelve-Episode Anime: Including a fanservice OVA.
  • Updated Rerelease: PS2 and PSP port. Justified that they have a different story from PC version and anime.
  • Upper Class Twit: Karen
  • Yum Yum: All the girls in the OVA. Perfectly justified, since most of them apparently intend to perform a fellatio.
  • Zettai Ryouiki: The girls wear these as part of their school uniform.
