What happens when you turn Dora the Explorer (minus the Spanish teaching) into a Creepypasta? You get Amanda the Adventurer!
You have found a couple VHS tapes of an old children's cartoon titled Amanda the Adventurer, starring a young girl and her best friend, a sheep, in your attic, yet you have no memory of this show at all. As you watch each episode, you begin to notice some rather unsettling things happen within the show. And it only gets worse from that point forward. It's a rather short game, but it manages to deliver a good scare or two.
The game was released on April 8, 2022 by jpgamedesign for a contest on itch.io, and can be downloaded here.
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Amanda seem like a cute, innocent child at first. However, if you continually click on the wrong answers, she will get increasingly mad. She also kills Woolie at the end of Episode 2.
- Creepy Child: Amanda can get surprisingly scary when angered. And then there's the part where she kills Woolie in Episode 2, followed by her becoming an Eldritch Abomination at the end of Episode 3.
- Eldritch Abomination: Amanda is revealed to be one at the end of Episode 3.
- The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You: At the end of the game, Amanda, now an Eldritch Abomination, manages to break out of the TV and attack the player!
- Freeze-Frame Bonus: During the credits sequence at the end of Episode 1, there are a few words written in all uppercase letters, which, when put together, say, "TURN OFF THE TV NOW!"
- Jump Scare:
- Courtsey of Amanda's demonic form at the end of the game.
- Before that, Amanda's face suddenly darkening if the player messes up enough times can catch first time players off guard.
- Non-Human Sidekick: Woolie the sheep.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: Amanda's pupils suddenly turn red just before the player knocks on the door of the house during Episode 3.
- Surprise Creepy: The game starts off very innocently, with Amanda asking the player where the grocery store is during Episode 1. However, the game gradually beings to take a darker turn, as buildings will suddenly disappear, and Amanda will start to get mad if you intentionally choose the wrong answers enough times. This reaches its climax in Episode 3, when Amanda morphs into an absolute monstrosity after the player has annoyed her by choosing all the wrong answers one too many times.
