A standard comedy trope which, at its core, takes the form:
There's Alice, Bob, Charlie, Devan, and Eric. Somebody says, "We praise Alice, Bob, Charlie... and the rest."
Thus Devan, Eric, and the rest of the Alphabet Crew are being casually insulted by being classed as not worth individual comment. Extra insult is added when "the rest" consists of only one person.
Note that this trope is not necessarily meant as an insult in Japanese works. In Japanese, it is common for someone to refer to a group of people by a single person's name with a pluralizing suffix, like "Ken-tachi" to refer to "Ken's group," which is sometimes translated as "Ken and the rest." Examples should limit themselves to works in which the insult is obviously implied.

- Slam Dunk: "Sakuragi Hanamichi! Mito Youhei! And... others." The speaker is promptly beaten up by the 'others', Noma, Ohkusu and Takamiya, who then introduce themselves.
- In Pani Poni Dash!:

- In Fairy Tail Ichiya does this when meeting the Fairy Tail members, talking about how the reputations of Erza and Lucy proceeds them... and the rest (indicating Gray and Natsu)
- A Running Gag with Sanji from One Piece, in that he only cares about the ladies.

- Referenced by Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie: When the actor who played The Professor appears in This Island Earth, one of the bots quips, "Hey, what's this 'and the rest' crap?"
- In Ocean's Twelve, Casey Affleck's character goes around a rather long table filled with people, lovingly and eloquently thanking each and every one of them by name, from distant cousins to minor acquaintances. The trope is evoked when he gets to the only person left unthanked; his brother.

- The Trope Namer example is the first-season opening Theme Song of Gilligan's Island, which listed each character, but then lumped The Professor and Mary Ann into "The Rest". Everyone else thought this was unfair but the producers said they had final say as to where to put them, and besides it would be too expensive to redo the opening. Bob Denver (Gilligan), who had top billing, actually had a clause in his contract that let him have his credit wherever he wanted it; he threatened to demand his billing be after those two if they weren't moved to the Opening Credits.

- Done in the episode "Rebirth", when everyone is being birthed from the birthing machine. Whilst several characters come out one at a time and are announced by name, LaBarbara, Kif, and Scruffy all emerge in a heap, and are refered to as 'the rest'.
- In one The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episode, Homer believes he's the last man alive, mourns each member of the "main" family and then laments the loss of "and all the rest", which includes the pets, Maggie and the TV.
- In the episode "Eight Misbehavin'," Apu and Manjula's octuplets are made the stars of a show called "Octopia" at the Springfield Zoo. Only four of the babies (Anoop, Poonam, Sandeep, Gheet) are explicitly given stage character names and are introduced to the audience. The others (Sashi, Pria, Uma, Nabenbu) are introduced as And the Rest.
