Maximals

Nightscream

• Emo Teen
• Make Me Wanna Shout: His power.
• Our Vampires Are Different: Nightscream can shoot his fangs at an enemy and drain the energy from them via a connecting cable.
• Sixth Ranger
• Sole Survivor: As far as the Maximals know, anyway. Nightscream is the only one they find, but then they never really leave Cybertropolis.
• Survivors Guilt
• Tagalong Kid

Savage/Noble

• A Boy and His X: After Megatron's spark exits him and he loses sentience, he has this relationship with Nightscream.
• Big Badass Wolf
• Biological Mashup: of a dragon and a wolf.
• Instant Awesome, Just Add Dragons
• Jekyll and Hyde: Noble is benign to a fault and Savage is practically uncontrollable. Initially this turns out to be an act since Noble is actually Megatron stuck in his organic half. After they split, however, the trope is played somewhat straight - though neither Noble nor Savage display any sentience.
• Killed Off for Real
• Noble Savage: Well, duh.
• Redemption Demotion: A very strange case. After Megatron's spark takes over the Grand Mal his Noble/Savage body continues to live on with only a primitive animal intelligence.

Botanica

• Action Girl - Although she dislikes violence.
• Green Thumb
• Plant Alien
• Shock and Awe - A rarely-used chain lightning attack that vaporised a swarm of tank drones in her debut.
• Shout-Out - The planet where she got her "beast mode" comes from Mainframe Entertainment's other toyline based cartoon.
• Slap Slap Kiss: With Rattrap.

Vehicons

Thrust

• And I Must Scream: Subverted. Waspinator was fully aware of what was going on, but didn't care because he enjoyed it so much. It's also slightly implied that he had greater control than Jetstorm and Tankor, citing his "the brooding loner bit."
• Badass Biker: Well, bike, anyway.
• Badass Baritone
• Butt Monkey: For a while mid second season, it seemed as if Thrust resumed Waspinator's old role, being bashed by everyone. Given that he is Waspinator, this was likely intentional. By the end of the series, he has regained the respect of his fellow Vehicons and is no longer bashed around.
• Sparkjacked And Crazy
• The Dragon: For part of season 2.
• Enigmatic Minion
• That Man Is Dead: Actually, he's the only one of the original three not to bother with this trope at all.
• Took a Level in Badass
• Undying Loyalty: He was Megatron's faithful servant until the very end even when the latter was seemingly killed. He has nothing but hatred for any perceived traitors.

Jetstorm

• And I Must Scream: As Silverbolt, he indicates that he was aware of what Jetstorm was doing as well.
• The Atoner
• Ax Crazy: Even by Transformers villain standards, Jetstorm is completely out of his mind.
• Battle Couple: With Blackarachnia.
• Everything's Better with Samurai: After his reformat, his robot mode is designed to look like a Samurai.
• Evil Has a Bad Sense of Humour: Which doesn't stop him from being absolutely hysterical at times.
• Evil Laugh: "Whoa-AH hahahahahaha!!!"
• Heel Face Turn
• Jerkass
• Knight in Shining Armor: Subverted.
• Knight in Sour Armor: After his reformat.
• Laughably Evil: Jetstorm is without a doubt, insane. But he's also loads of fun to watch.
• Sixth Ranger
• Sparkjacked And Crazy
• That Man Is Dead: Jetstorm is actually just a shell program created by Megatron, so he "dies" when Blackarachnia reformats him into Silverbolt.
  • Conversely, after finding out the truth, Jetstorm was emphatic that "Silverbolt had left the building!"

Tankor

• And I Must Scream: Rhinox says that he was trapped inside Tankor, fully aware of what was going on, but unable to reach the surface and communicate.

Rhinox: Trapped! Abandoned!

• Death Equals Redemption
• Dumb Muscle: Subverted. Tankor is inarguably dumb and powerful, but exactly how aware or in control Rhinox is of Tankor's actions is never really clarified.
• Hulk Speak
• Manipulative Bastard: To the point of forcing Megatron himself to do whatever he wants, without his knowledge... until Megatron turned all the gambits to his favour.
• Obfuscating Stupidity: Upon regaining his true personality.
• Sparkjacked And Crazy: Inverted, he was always on the evil side.
• The Starscream: Once he regains his intellect, anyway. He would have succeeded if Megatron hadn't been Genre Savvy enough hardwired his programing to ensure that he could never kill him.
• Tank Goodness: It's in the name.
• That Man Is Dead
• Third Person Person

Obsidian & Strika

• Affirmative Action Girl: Strika was made a female to address the gender imbalance. The writers also introduced Botanica, a prominent character with no toy, for the same reason.
• Battle Couple
• Brains and Brawn: Both are brilliant tacticians, but Strika is easily the more combat oriented of the two. Obsidian's more of a strategist, coordinating drone attacks.
• Co-Dragons
• Huge Girl: Strika
  • Tiny Guy: Obsidian
• Hulk Speak: In their Establishing Character Moment, they use this to trick the Maximals.
• My Planet, Right Or Wrong: They are both extremely loyal to Cybertron - even if the guy running it happens to be an organophobic lunatic with a God complex.
