Some creators do it because they are Only in It For the Money.
Other creators want to prove themselves as "true artists".
But then you have these creators.
They are not doing it for money. They are not doing it to be "artistic" or to cater to the arthouse crowd. They are doing it because it's fun.
They do it for the pure, simple joy of doing it. They don't care about bad reviews. They don't care if the work flops. But they also don't care about the arthouse crowd, at all. All they care about is how much fun they had doing it.
Examples of Because It's So Much Fun, Jan include:
- The Trope Namer is Quentin Tarantino, who movies because he has fun making them and is always proud of the end result.
- Michael Bay
- The Asylum. They genuinely enjoy doing Follow the Leader movies, and don't care about their reputation.
- Ed Wood made movies because he enjoyed making them, critics be damned.
- Several comic writers who are prone to negative reviews (Rob Liefeld, Frank Miller, Brian Michael Bendis, Mark Millar, Joe Quesada) make comics because they genuinely enjoy making them, and they don't particularly care about reviews.
- Both Troma and Full Moon make cheesy b-movies because they enjoy making them.
- Dito Roger Corman.
- The Trope Namer's close friend, Robert Rodriguez, also fits the trope.
