Big Finish Doctor Who/Trivia

• Ascended Fanon:
  • Coined the term "The Meddling Monk."
  • Return to Skaro finally confirmed two long standing theories about "The Daleks". There was a Black Dalek Supreme calling the shots and there was a backup power supply in the Dalek City, though the specifics of both were quite different than the fan theories.
• Author Existence Failure: Big Finish had big plans for the War Doctor only for John Hurt to tragically pass in 2017, just before the last boxset of his adventures was released.
• Exiled From Continuity: James Dreyfus' version of the Master. After two adventures, Dreyfus made some rather transphobic comments and Big Finish promptly cut ties with him, downplaying the release of any pre-recorded stories of his and excluding that incarnation from Masterful, a Milestone Celebration of the Master that featured all of the characters' incarnations.
• Hey, It's That Guy!:
  • One of the two Time Lords assigned to tail Arabella Weir's Third Doctor is played by David Tennant.
    • He's also a Nazi in Colditz.
  • Weir herself is familiar to fans of The Fast Show. Particularly as the lady who asks "Does my bum look big in this?"
  • Many guest stars from all over the map, including Doctor Bashir, Admiral Piett, and Captain Hastings! Commander Ivanova shows up once as Peri's mom.
• Hey, It's That Voice!:
  • Lucie is voiced by Sheridan Smith, known for her roles in Gavin and Stacey, Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps and the West End version of Legally Blonde.
• Milestone Celebration:
  • The Light at the End, Destiny of the Doctor, and the Quadrigger Stone trilogy celebrated the show's fiftieth anniversary.
  • The Legacy of Time and Daughter of the Gods were released to celebrate twenty years of Big Finish producing Doctor Who content. The latter was even mockingly hyped as a hypothetical fifth anniversary celebration of the show that could have aired in 1968.
  • Masterful was Big Finish's celebration of the Master's fiftieth anniversary.
  • Doctor Who: Once and Future: Past Lives celebrated sixty years of Doctor Who.
• The Other Darrin:
  • Elliot Chapman was hired to voice Ben Jackson. He retired from the role after The Home Guard so as not to beat out Ben's original performer, the late Micheal Craze, in the amount of times he'd performed the part.
  • Jemma Powell replaced the late Jacqueline Hill in the The Early Adventures before she was joined by the rest of the cast of An Adventure in Space and Time to portray the remainder of the first TARDIS team in The First Doctor Adventures.
  • After John Hurt's passing halted The War Doctor line, it returned in 2021 with Jonathon Carley as a younger version of the title character.
  • In 2021, Sadie Miller took over her late mother's role of Sarah Jane Smith.
• Talking to Himself: Like in the televised show, Nicholas Briggs voices all of the Daleks and Cybermen.
• What Could Have Been: Tom Baker signed a deal with Big Finish to perform Fourth Doctor audio plays in late March or early April, 2011. When signed, among the ideas he mentioned he was interested in was doing new adventures alongside Elisabeth Sladen reprising her role as Sarah Jane Smith. Sadly, Elisabeth Sladen then passed away, putting those plans permanently in the "What Could Have Been" category.
