In 2051, Black★Rock Shooter is among twelve humans who survive after an alien invasion in 2038 destroyed almost all of humanity; these twelve rise up against the attackers, the "Seven Apostles". The game features an All-Star Cast with names like Maaya Sakamoto, Tomokazu Sugita, and Hiroshi Kamiya (see the individual entry for more) with music by Manabu Namiki.
The PSP game will see an overseas release, thus averting No Export for You. For the most part, the fandom rejoiced.
Tropes used in Black★Rock Shooter (video game) include:
- Artist Allusion: One of B★RS's costumes is a scientist's labcoat as a jab at the fact that Huke was also the artist for Steins;Gate
- Advancing Boss of Doom
- Aerith and Bob: Range from Bob, Hassan, Alexei, Xiao Ming; to Phobos, Rothcol, Black★Rock Shooter; to MEFE, LLWO, and XNFE. There are some justifications about the alien's name, but have you ever met a guy named Rothcol?
- After the End: The alien invasion has decimated Earth.
- All-Star Cast: Holy crap. Maaya Sakamoto, Miyuki Sawashiro, Masaki Terasoma, Mai Nakahara, Tomokazu Sugita, Yoko Hikasa, Yoshimitsu Shimoyama, Hiroshi Kamiya, Asami Shimoda, Yosuke Akimoto, Kenji Hamada, Mitsuaki Hoshino, and Katsuhisa Houki!

- Avenging the Villain: LLWO for MEFE.
- Back From the Brink: The trailer shows awakened B★RS fighting alien robot alongside human soldiers.
- Badass Army: The Earth defense force took eight out of the 15 Apostles. Considering the kind of the story, that's quite an achievement.
- Badass Grandpa: SAHA.
- B★RS Can Breathe In Outer Space.
- BFS: MZMA.
- Black Magician Girl: MEFE.
- Bittersweet Ending: In New Game+, finishing the "?"-marked missions makes Nana survive. Humankind still goes extinct, though.
- The Brute: CKRY. All that he says are grunts and roars. Which SZZU somehow can understand.
- Catch Phrase: Rothcol's "Tally, ho!"
- Cloning Blues: B★RS and Nana Gray.
- Clothing Damage: The Lost All costume. You get it when, well, all is lost.
- Colourful Theme Naming: Black★Rock Shooter, Nana Gray, White Rock Shooter.
- Cool Bike: The Pigee Ninja. Despite its ridiculously lame name, it's extremely similar to the one in the original B★RS PV.
- Cool Plane: The Draco. Which is like a huge, carbon-steel composite stealth bomber.
- Downer Ending: Oh sure, the world is saved from the aliens, but by that point it's pointless because humankind is extinct. And B★RS is doomed to spend the rest of her life alone. Mission Clear!
- The ecosystem gets better, if the couple of polar bears is any indication.
- Emotionless Girl: Even the Seven Apostles has more range of emotion than B★RS. And they are the bad guys.
- Five-Bad Band: The five characters shown fighting B★RS in the trailer. Dead Master is nowhere to be seen. They are actually called the Seven Apostles.
- MEFE, MZMA, SZZU and CKRY, XNFE, LLWO, SAHA - Seven in total. But still, if there were 15 with the invasion, not sure why only these Seven were important enough to be named like that.
- Flunky Boss: The Generators, but the most notable instance is XNFE and her goddamned flying bunny-eared shoot-y pink triangle drones which she throws at you ad hominem.
- Graceful Loser: WRS.
- Heal Thyself: In this case, Hand Waved as "nanomachines".
- Kamehame Hadoken
- Kill'Em All: The PSS. And by "all", it means that at the end of The Game, B★RS is the only surviving humanoid being in the entire world.
- Killer Rabbit: XNFE. Massacre rabbit.
- Kill It with Fire: MZMA's power.
- La Résistance: PSS, of which B★RS is a member/ultimate weapon.
- Last Of Their Kind: B★RS and eleven others are the only ones left to fight off their attackers.
- Male Gaze: The instance this happens is when MEFE appears and the camera zooms at her nice buttocks.
- Meaningful Name: Would you believe me that B★RS's real name is Stella.
- Mecha-Mooks: The Armaments.
- Meganekko: SZZU.
- The Mole: Nana Gray.

- Nigh Invulnerability: B★RS can survive lasers, energy bullets, ordinary bullets, missiles, blade slashes, body slams of 3-meter-tall Mecha-Mooks, crashing at 300 kmph into said mooks...

- Power Armor: SZZU and CKRY. They are siblings.
- The Professor: Prof. Gibson, the Dr. Light-esque creator of both Gray and B★RS.

- Roaring Rampage of Rescue: The latter part of the game. It doesn't work. At least during the first time.
- Sealed Badass in a Can: B★RS seems to be one in the game.
