Wink Martindale created this Game Show for USA Network, in which two pairs of contestants competed to solve puzzles based on vanity license plates[1] that might have belonged to celebrities or fictional characters. After winning a toss-up, the team in control revealed one of the seven characters in a "super stumper" puzzle. The object was to solve the "super stumper" before the opposing team.
The following Game Show tropes appear in Bumper Stumpers:
- Bonus Round: The winning team has 30 seconds to solve a series of license plate puzzles. Then they pick from the seven letters in the word STUMPER and hope the stop sign doesn't appear.
- Personnel:
- The Announcer: Ken Ryan
- Game Show Host: Al DuBois
Other tropes include:
- Vanity License Plate: The entire premise.
- ↑ in the vein of William Steig's juvenile book C D B!
