- Evil Is Cool: The Port Mafia. Sure, they're ruthless criminals, but damn if they aren't badass about it.
- Fyodor, who plays everyone around him like a fiddle and looks cool doing it.
- Launcher of A Thousand Ships: Dazai tends to have chemistry with any character he interacts with so he's a very popular choice for ships.
- Memetic Mutation: Asagiri hating children, owing to horrible things happening to little kids whenever they play a significant role in the story, with a common joke being people wondering when he was going to blow up Aya.
- Rescued From The Scrappy Heap: Aya was an unpopular character when first introduced as an annoying kid sidekick to Kunikida when she's the only witness to Katsura attempting to bomb the subway and when Kunikida tries to make her stay behind, Aya threatens to tell the police Kunikida assaulted her if he doesn't let her assist him. She reappears later in the story where she plays an important role of helping get Bram away from Fukuchi, though some haven't forgiven her for the aforementioned stunt.
