Charles Martinet (born September 17, 1955, in San Jose, California) is best known as the voices of Mario, Luigi and most other male characters in the Super Mario Bros. series, starting with Mario's FUNdamentals in 1995. Martinet is fluent in Spanish and French but, ironically, not so fluent in Italian.

When it was announced that 2023 would see the release of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, many, included Martinet himself, hoped that he would reprise his role on the big screen. Alas, it was not to be with it being announced that Chris Pratt would instead be voicing Mario (news which garnered a decidedly tepid response only for the tune to change when the film was released) though Martinet himself lent his usual Mario voice to a Remake Cameo (in a multitude of languages) as well as voicing Mario and Luigi's father.

Martinet announced his retirement from performing Mario in August 2023, and will transition to being a "Mario ambassador" (essentially a global PR role).
