You think I do this for money?! I've been gettin' paid for high-end jobs since... forever. Have you ever seen me spend any of it? Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if I have more money than you, at this point. No, Norman... I stopped doing this for money a long time ago. I do it because it's fun.

Ultimate red skull

He ACTUALLY kills this baby, too!

A list of Complete Monsters in Marvel Comics. Spider-Man examples can be found here and X-Men examples here. See also Marvel Animation and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Examples of Complete Monster/Marvel include:

Captain America[]

  • The Red Skull, aka Johann Schmidt, arch-enemy of Captain America (comics) and former second-in-command to Adolf Hitler in the Marvel Universe. He's so evil that even fellow supervillains like Dr. Doom and Magneto despise him. Though given that Magneto's family were Jewish (and all but him died in the Holocaust) and Doom's family were Romany, it's not surprising that they would dislike the Skull.
    • Just to point out: the Skull isn't a Nazi anymore. It's not that he's got anything against Nazis either. He just thinks he's superior to them. Yes, he's even more arrogant than a group of people so narcissistic they called themselves the "Master Race". And the scary thing is he's only become even MORE evil since renouncing the Nazi cause, not less. The guy didn't just go past the Moral Event Horizon -- he IS the Moral Event Horizon. Even sadistic mind rapist Dr. Faustus is disgusted by him. In a cross-over with DC, even the frickin' Joker ended up being disgusted by him.
      • In House of M, he takes advantage of Scarlet Witch wiping out all super powers to begin exterminating the now-weakened superhero population of the world. Upon murdering Reed Richards after failing to torture his wife and children in front of him, Red Skull orders his armies to wipe out all life in New York City to power up the Cosmic Cube with the life force of millions of innocents. Even when confronted by several non-powered heroes, Skull simply giddily orders his men to kill everything in sight and proceeds to massacre hundreds of people on both sides of the conflict, laughing that once the Cosmic Cube is powered up he will use it to alter reality to one where he reigns supreme.
        • There's also the way he treated Mother Night, the only woman who actually loved him. He treated her like crap and usually just thought of her as another henchman. In a lot of ways, it's like the Joker and Harley Quinn relationship, but Skull is far more abusive. Red Skull once even started flirting with Viper right in front of her just to make her suffer (he slept with Viper, too). What Mother Night sees in him is a mystery, though she also considers Crossbones to be a close friend, so she isn't a good judge of character. Mother Night isn't a saint herself.
    • In What If Captain America Had Led An Army of Super Soldiers in World War II?, Red Skull, having been defeated while overseeing Nazi concentration camps, concocts one of his most diabolical schemes ever, as he changes his appearance to that of Steve Rogers, Captain America, then wipes out Cap's entire army unit. Disguised as Cap, Red Skull uses his status as a war hero to propel himself to the presidency, where he instantly begins stirring up racial conflict until he manages to institute a police state. Throwing all who don't serve him or fit into his view of a "perfect" human being into concentration camps to be brutally tortured and murdered, Red Skull guns down one of his own advisory for suggesting caution with their plan, and ultimately hopes to expand his new regime until the entire world is that of a pure, Aryan race.
    • What If Captain America Were Revived Today? shows that in a world where Captain America wasn't awakened from his frozen slumber in time, Red Skull was able to invade America and slaughter millions of people with his Nazi armies. Upon establishing the Fourth Reich, Skull subjects millions of people to horrific concentration camps and uses dozens of mutants and superheroes as experimental material to be taken apart and mutated, with their families being wiped out as well. When the rest of the world tries to temper Red Skull's conquest under threat of nuclear war, Red Skull gleefully kick-starts the war himself, using nuclear weapons to wipe out countless people across the Eastern countries of the world and leaving Russia and many other counties radiated wastelands. Upon learning that his old foe Captain America has returned, Red Skull forces a mind-controlled Hulk to slaughter Cap's forces, and ultimately guns down Spider-Man himself before dying.
    • The Ultimate Universe's Red Skull is actually WORSE, as demonstrated in the image above. He's a killing machine, although that doesn't sum up the sick delight he takes in what he does. He's mentioned as having worked with numerous historical monsters including infamous mass-murderer and cannibal Idi Amin. He makes a hobby out of training terrorists and, oh yes, he's the guy who killed Kennedy. Just to send a message. His evil is highlighted in his Backstory, where Nick Fury relates how he gave a man's wife a Sadistic Choice: kill her husband with a pair of scissors or he'd kill her baby. She did it. The Red Skull then chucked the baby out a window and let his three thugs gang-rape the woman. Oh, and he also stole all of the food and drinks in their house too. Karma does kick him in the crotch when he gets impaled by at jetplane by his own father, and then shot by the same woman whose baby he murdered, but it's a far easier death than any of his victims.
      • He also forces every member of A.I.M. to EAT each other when he gets his hands on the Cosmic Cube. He got his start by killing 200 people at the age of seventeen and then cut off his face. While there's a tragic element to his Complete Monster status as he actually resents being a Monster because, for all of his sadism, he's never truly happy with himself and he even attempts to warp reality so that his life could turn out better and he could be happier, it ends up getting utterly buried by all the malice and inhumanity he exhibits, which results in a well earned Heel Face Door Slam for him at the moment of his death.
  • Arnim Zola, a minion of Red Skull, was a Nazi biochemist in his human years. To escape mortality, Zola used his cybernetic brilliance to digitize himself and survive inside robotic shells to continue his experiments. One of his worst acts was to create the monstrous Hate-Monger, and afterwards he continued to complete multiple experiments for the Red Skull, his usual employer and master. Rick Remender however, shows that Zola was a monster just waiting to cut loose. When he and Captain America were lost in Dimension Z, Zola becomes its dictator, and its God. He inflicts horrible experiments amongst the people, overwriting their minds to be loyal to him alone and turns others into horrible mutants that he sics on those who don't accept his rule. Even his own children there are nothing but pawns, his affection to them fake to manipulate them and he is more than willing to kill them if they do not conform to his wishes. Zola, to end his long war with Captain America created a way to get back to Earth, with a bomb that would kill countless innocents before Zola sent his mutants, with the intent of overwriting the minds of the people of earth and mutating others, a process that would kill billions.
  • Baron Heinrich Zemo was an German nobleman who joined the Nazi party after Germany lost World War 1. During World War 2, Heinrich committed several war crimes: strangling a Polish Freedom Fighter named Citizen V to death, testing a death ray on a concentration camp inmate. He also captured and flayed the Original Human Torch, recreating the Torch's power to help the Nazis win the war and used the Torch's powers to incinerate one of his own Nazi minions, just for kicks. Zemo also built a death ray and when Nick Fury and his Howling Commandos tried to capture it, Zemo rigged it to explode, destroying a nearby German town. Zemo was once a loving father and husband, but a fight with Captain America left him disfigured and he was consumed with hatred for Captain America and started beating his son and wife. Zemo even tried to shoot through his son Helmut to kill Captain America at one point and was willing to kill his wife when she opposed him. Near the end of the war, Zemo tried to steal an experimental plane in England and rigged it exploded, seemingly killing Bucky and trapping Cap in suspended animation. After the war Zemo fled to South America, hired a band of mercs and enslaved a remote South American native tribe. One day when the tribe rebelled, Zemo violently put down the rebellion and had all the ring leaders of the rebellion killed. When Captain America returned in modern times, Zemo enacted several revenge schemes, including creating Wonder Man in order to infiltrate the Avengers and stating that his powers will destroy him if Zemo doesn't give him an injection every week. He also kidnapped Cap's young friend Rick Jones and stuck him in a trap designed so Captain America would kill him if he tried to free him.
  • Crossbones is another one; understandable, considering that he had to meet Sin's standards to be her boyfriend...which didn't stop him from torturing her to remove the brainwashing she was subjected to. He was recently put in the Thunderbolts. Not because anybody has delusions he deserves a chance to redeem himself, quite the opposite - he was added to the team because he is so irredeemable and disgusting that other members are more willing to cooperate, as trying something would put them on the same side as him. It got to the point where he killed a police officer and was booted off the team.
    • Crossbones actually managed to start up a Real Life racism and sexism controversy when an issue of Spider-Man depicted him, a Neo-Nazi rapist, apparently killing the superheroine Sabra, a Jewish single mother, by shooting her In the Back while nonchalantly munching on a sandwich. The writer actually had to get on Twitter and confirm he'd just grazed her, things got so bad. Still an excellent window into the kind of guy he is, nevertheless.
  • What If... Captain America Fought in the Civil War?: Colonel Buck "Bucky" Barnes is the seemingly kind commander of the Union regiment known as the "Redlegs", however his seemingly noble appearance is quickly shown to nothing but a mask. In truth, Barnes is a cruel sociopath who uses his position to organize the massacre of every man, woman, and child in defenseless towns in Confederacy territory, while claiming that said towns are Confederate hideouts, so as to loot all the money and treasure the townsfolk possess. When a lone soldier, Steve Rogers, refuses to kill three children on Barnes's orders, Barnes wastes no time in trying to kill the man, and, later learning that Rogers has taken up residence at a nearby Union base, Barnes orders everyone in the base slaughtered after his face is turned by magic into a white skull of death to represent his true personality. Even after his defeat, Barnes later escapes and reforms the Ku Klux Klan into a white supremacist terrorist group that, even decades later, continues Barnes's mass murdering agenda, regularly targeting highly-populated public buildings and dueling with any heroes in their way. Barnes, later known as White Skull, was a twisted composition of the canon Marvel characters James Bucky Barnes and the Red Skull, and obviously took far more personality cues from the latter, as evidenced by his homicidal greed and sadism.
  • Doctor Deirdre Wentworth, alias: Superia, is a misandrist determined to create a female dominated world ruled by her. Abducting ten thousand female super villains, Superia attempts to sterilize every other woman on Earth, making only her minions capable of producing following generations. Although this plan of her's was thwarted, Superia goes on to manipulate and brainwash Cathy Webster into becoming the unstable man-hating super woman, Free Spirit, under her command. After seemingly be killed by the Red Skull, Superia gifts her younger self knowledge of the future and uses a Cosmic Cube, removing the frozen Captain America from several timelines, leading to the whole multiverse being destabilized and threatening reality. Inserting herself in the Avengers while posing as a superhero called Broad Stripe, Superia causes their disbanding and replaces them with her own minions, the AmeriCommand. Eliminating anyone who stands against her, Superia turns America into a police state: having any super humans not loyal to her imprisoned and tortured; keeping Tony Stark's disembodied brain in a jar; trapping the Fantastic Four in the Negative Zone except for Susan Storm; whom she is implied to have caused a miscarriage for. When confronted by Captain America for her evil deeds, Superia refuses to admit any guilt and has the gall to tell him he could destabilize reality by merging with another version of himself, even as he does it to undo the damage she caused to the multiverse.

The Punisher[]

  • This trope is how much of The Punisher's antagonists were written, particularly under the MAX series penned by Garth Ennis:
  • William Rawlins dumped a crewman (killed) and his wife O'Brien overboard to be raped by the Taliban so that his helicopter would be able to stay airborne with him and the drug shipment, activates a terrorist group to hijack an airliner and fly it at the Kremlin as a diversion for another operation, and when he murders Zakharov's right-hand man (who seemed, along with Zakharov, to recognize the sniveling Jerkass underneath the Smug Snake exterior), he taunts the dying bodyguard by vowing to rape his son to death. A similar kill attempt doesn't work against the Punisher, and Rawlins meets a well-deserved end in a Kabul airport restroom.
  • Tiberiu Bulat, his son Cristu Bular, and their associate Vera are the villains of The Slavers storyline. Tiberiu and Cristu were part of an Eastern European militia responsible for ethnic cleansing, slaughtering entire villages until Cristu got the idea to take young women captive. They forced them into sexual slavery and went to the United States to export the business. Tiberiu is a trigger-happy madman who'll kill anyone at the slightest provocation while Cristu and Vera are calculating business types who routinely have the girls raped, with Vera coming up with the strategy of 'rape them to break them.'
  • Barracuda, one of Frank Castle's most resilient and persistent enemies, is always ready with a laugh or a joke to conceal the black-hearted, soulless monster he truly is. Showing his sadism by trying to feed Castle and a gangster indebted to him to a great white shark, 'Cuda later betrayed a man who had worked with him for years simply because he got a better offer. After being defeated by Frank once, Barracuda hunted down an ally of Frank's and murdered him and the man's wife for information before kidnapping Frank's infant daughter to torture her to death in front of Frank. In Fury: My War Gone By, Barracuda is revealed to have once been a Green Beret in Nicaragua with a penchant for executing members of the government by chainsaw after trying to psychologically torture them. Perhaps his worst act is the revelation that he assisted in the atrocities of the Contras, entailing the wholesale rape, torture, and slaughter of several defenseless villages, adults and children alike butchered by 'Cuda, and, following this, to prove a point of how little the US uniform meant to him, 'Cuda kicked a decapitated child at Nick Fury. 'Cuda is shown throughout all of his appearances to be a Serial Rapist, having been known to force himself upon his cellmates throughout his life and attempting more of the same as his life goes on. Defined by selfishness, cruelty and his willingness to betray anyone for a buck, not even the “Barracuda charm” can disguise what a savage Barracuda truly is.
  • General Kreigkopf was a former officer in the US army who was kicked out due to his sadistic behavior. Kreigkopf fled to Grand Nixon Island, an island in the South Pacific and turned into a hub for criminals and mercenaries. Kreigkopf resurrects the Punisher's old enemy, the Russian and sends him after the Punisher. After the Punisher defeats the Russian again, he goes to Grand Nixon Island to deal with Kreigkopf. When Punisher foils some of Kreigkopf's operations, he becomes enraged. As it happens there is a French military officer on the island, using the island as fueling depot before going to test a nuclear bomb in the Pacific Ocean. Kreigkopf steals the bomb and plans to drop it on Brussels, feeling that no one would mess with Grand Nixon Island after that and he will get several new clients for his services after such a demonstration of power.
  • Bullseye is presented as a truly vile killer in the MAX series. Initially an assassin who loves his job perhaps a little too much, Bullseye becomes obsessed with getting inside Frank Castle's head. To this end, he begins targeting happy families, murdering the husband, raping the wife and taking her and the kids out on a 'picnic' where he has his goons gun them all down to recreate the scene when Castle lost his family. When he finally confronts and battles Castle, Bullseye shows nothing but unmitigated bliss at being the one criminal who can truly mentally rattle him. He's the kind of sick bastard who gets off on seeing a vigilante like Castle butchering his henchmen. To Bullseye, watching someone kill scores of men is like listening to a symphony.
  • In Punisher 2099, Fearmaster is Punisher's Arch Enemy who plays many roles; mob boss, cult leader, tycoon and is also a Serial Killer in his spare time. Fearmaster had his hand genetically altered and now has the power to transform living issue into anything he wants. He kidnaps young women and transforms them into statues and keeps them for display in his personal hall. We first see him turning a young woman's leg into solid bone so that she could not escape him. Punisher begins to interfere with his schemes, when Fearmaster sends his minion Multi-Fractor to clear a slum populated by poor people so he can build condos, not caring if they die in the process, Punisher stops him. Fearmaster is also involved in the Alchemax program to mutate and perform medical experiments on poor people. Fearmaster begins to think Public Eye psychologist Kerry Dowenn may know who Punisher really is. Kerry is romantically involved with Punisher and is reading a file with his real name on it, when Fearmaster confronts her. Kerry manages to delete the file and Fearmaster kills her in frustration. Fearmaster eventually discovers that Punsiher is really Public Eye officer Jake Gallows. Fearmaster confronts Gallows and discovers Gallows has a make shift prison where he keeps some of the criminals he has tangled with. The prisoners ask Fearmaster to release them, but Fearmaster thinks its amusing to let them starve to death.

Other[]

  • Thanos of Titan can be this Depending on the Writer. While he has more than his fair share of noble traits such as a genuine love for Death herself, viewing Gamora as a daughter, and considering Adam Warlock a friend, some writers tend to sweep away those good points and write him as a demented barbarian who is obsessed with annihilating all life in all galaxies just for the hell of it.
  • Sleepwalker's Arch Enemy Cobweb is a demon that invades the minds of humans and drives them insane with his lies, all while plotting to invade and enslave the Earth, framing Sleepwalker in the process. Cobweb turned people against Sleepwalker, while corrupting their minds, all the while using invading forces to wreak havoc and devour innocents' minds. Cobweb planned to have Sleepwalker's host, Rick Sheridan cross the Despair Event Horizon and betray Sleepwalker, which would allow Cobweb to turn Rick into a portal to Earth and wreak destruction there. Since the denizens of the Mindscape don't need to devour people's minds to survive, Cobweb stands out as a monster amongst his species.
  • Daredevil has fought his share of villains who were rotten to the core, with one of the most famous being Psycho for Hire Bullseye who shares the status of being Daredevil's biggest enemy with Wilson Fisk. Seeing as how he's one of the Marvel universe's most skilled assassins for hire, he has heartlessly murdered countless people in his line of work, but has especially earned Matt Murdock's undying hatred since he has murdered many of his loved ones, including fellow hero and girlfriend Elektra as well as his other girlfriend Karen Page. Daredevil did eventually kill him, but he didn't stay dead and came back a paralyzed husk who now had a burning hatred for the hero. He showed this by targeting any and all people Matt was close to: friends, former and current lovers, and so many others were in danger of being victims of the assassin's wrath. Ultimately, Bullseye eventually revealed to fellow Complete Monster Norman Osborn that he's not after money, and has probably even more cash than Norman stored away that he rarely ever spends. No, this asshole simply kills because it's fun for him.
    • Another monster Daredevil has tangled with is Zebediah Killgrave who is also known as the Purple Man, a villain with the power of Mind Control who was revamped by Brian Michael Bendis into an amoral, sociopathic rapist/Serial Killer who would force people in restaurants to stop breathing because the noise in said restaurant was bothering him. And then there's what he did to Jessica Jones. He defeated her, defiled her, and made her his mental slave, forcing her to watch him commit crimes and assist him, while he heaped physical, verbal and mental abuse on her, but stopped short of outright rape because she "wasn't worthy" of him. Not content with humiliating her, he forced her to watch him do things like mentally order people to stop breathing when it annoyed him. He forced Jessica to stand at his bedside and watch as he used his powers to date rape women, helpless to do anything about it. Killgrave later massacred an entire restaurant by ordering everyone to stop breathing for nothing more than being too loud, and followed this up by ordering an entire street of people to kill each other. In his latest appearance, Killgrave is revealed to have continued his penchant for raping women, purposefully impregnating several of them so they will give birth to children with his abilities, who Killgrave later recruits to his side after eliminating their parents, hoping to use the children to amplify his abilities and allow him to take his mental control powers global. Killgrave is what happens when you give someone who thinks It's All About Me is a code to live by, remove any empathy for other beings, and give them mind control powers and a desire to hurt others.
    • The third Mister Fear, Larry Cranston, assumed the identity of Mister Fear after the deaths of the first two holders. A college rival of Matt's, Cranston resents Matt Murdock for having done better in law school than he did, and tries to ruin his life, using fear gas to induce panic attacks in his victims. Following his return in the 90s after a lengthy hiatus, Mister Fear III triggered a prison riot with his fear gas and escaped, leaving numerous dead. He also freed Serial Killer Charles Burroughs and supervillain Molten Man, and caused them to both go on rampages, while framing Karen Page, Matt's then Love Interest for murder to boot (he later executed Burroughs for "going off script"). It was during Ed Brubaker's run, however, that Fear III showed just how low he could go. He provided Lily Lucca with a perfume that permanently altered her body chemistry the men around her to go insane and kill each other, promising to fix her if she aided him (he lied; there is no cure). He then used his fear gas to drive reformed supervillain Melvin Potter/Gladiator into a psychotic break, leading to the deaths of dozens after a rampage through Chinatown. While all this is going on, he takes the place of Milla Donovan—Matt's wife's—psychiatrist, and drives her into a paranoid breakdown, leaving her institutionalized. This is without getting into his discovery that he can use his fear gas (which he now secretes from his pores) to force women to sleep with him, something he does many times through the arc. Effectively impossible to punish, Mister Fear III was last seen in prison, forcing the other inmates to do his work, and raping a female prison guard.
    • Muse is a deranged Serial Killer obsessed with sharing his "vision" of beauty with the whole world. Firstly kidnapping over a hundred innocent people, Muse strings them up and constantly drains them of their blood, leaving them always near-death, and uses said blood to paint a giant mural in a public location. Later, after murdering close to a dozen Inhumans and posing their bodies, Muse kidnaps 4 people and plans to torture them to death, starting boy lopping off one's ear, then captures Daredevil's sidekick, Blindspot, whose eyes he gouges out as a sick play on the young teen's name. Muse's lair is a nightmarish museum of depravity and agony, as it displays piles of skulls, heads on pikes, butchered corpses, and removed organs hanging from strings, all gathered throughout his months of murdering civilians. In the end, Muse tries to fatally wound his hundred blood-drained captives to distract Daredevil while he makes his escape, and, even when caught, refuses to show regret, empathy, or guilt for what his atrocities, displaying nothing by gleeful passion at how "artistic" his story has turned out to be.
    • Copperhead started off as Lawrence Chesney, son of a man who modeled for the cover of a pulp magazine called Copperhead. Lawrence's father felt the publishers cheated, so after his death Lawrence took the mantle of the Copperhead character and enacted his revenge. Copperhead began killing criminals and killed a cop who tried to stop him, but quickly establishes himself as a creepy Serial Killer, who puts pennies on the eyes of the victims he just killed. After Copperhead killed one of the publishers for revenge, he was stopped from killing the other publisher by Daredevil, and died while fighting him. Copperhead went to hell after he died and made a Deal with the Devil, returning to Earth as an undead lich. At this point, Copperhead, who lost any of his Knight Templar qualities or possible love for his father, and was fueled by a burning hatred of Daredevil, gathered other B-list Daredevil villains (Owl, Gladiator II, and Stilt-Man), and began a violent turf war with The Kingpin, which cost the lives of many people. Copperhead used those deaths as sacrifices to the Devil, gathering power from those deaths and using it transform part of New York into a version of Hell. Copperhead plans to sacrifice Dardevil and Spider-Man to open a portal to Hell and cause the downfall of mankind. Copperhead also torments his allies with nightmarish illusions, intending to do the same the rest of the world.
    • Coyote started off as a small time unnamed criminal, who volunteered for an experiment that would duplicate the powers of the Spot, a D-list teleporting Spider-Man villain. This experiment involved putting Spot into a contraption that causes him pain, in order to power the machine that gives Coyote his powers. Coyote uses his new powers to become a professional criminal contractor. He assassinates a drug lord by teleporting the blood out of his body. He is hired by a Middle Eastern warlord to open up a weapons supply route, which he does by teleporting a moving truck through a blocked off tunnel, killing several of the warlord's men in the process, just for kicks. Bullseye hires Coyote to mess with Daredevil, so Coyote plays mind games with Daredevil and tries to drive him insane, by teleporting his dead father's skull into his desk drawer. Daredevil soon discovers Coyote's most depraved scheme: Coyote manages to use his powers to remove people's heads without killing them, leaving their bodies intact and able to perform tasks. Coyote kidnaps several people and removes their heads, sending out these headless bodies to be slaves. The male bodies are sent off to perform manual labor, while the female bodies are sent out to be sex slaves. This process causes extreme pain to Coyote's victims. When Daredevil manages to free the slaves and Spot, Coyote's former victims want to get revenge and try to kill Coyote.
    • In What If...Daredevil Lived in Feudal Japan?, The Giant Shogun, an adaptation of the canon character The Kingpin, is the massive, hedonistic boss of The Yakuza who simultaneously runs Japan through manipulating the Emperor. The Shogun regularly orders assassinations, forces innocents into slavery, and often blackmails warriors into doing his bidding, notably blinding the infant son of Old Devil to force him into servitude in exchange for the cure for the blindness. Forcing Old Devil to massacre an entire ship of Americans so as to allow one of his spies to steal weapons plans, the Shogun snaps his spy's neck when he fails, has the man's wife murdered, then begins transforming their child daughter Elektra into his personal killing machine, tormenting and raping her along the way. Years after murdering Old Devil, taunting him about the fact that there was never a cure for his son, Masahiro's, blindness, the Shogun poisons his Dragon Stick to prevent any power struggles, murders one of his own men to steal his horse when he comes under attack, and leaves the Emperor of Japan to die to cover his escape. When confronted by a now-grown Elektra and Masahiro, the Shogun orders them both be incapacitated by a marksman, wanting to draw their deaths out painfully in public later as a show of what happens to those who defy him. A sadistic, greedy scumbag who cares for no one but himself, the Giant Shogun was nowhere close to his counterpart the Kingpin in nobility, honor, or grace, substituting these for depravity and malice tenfold.
  • Ebenezer Laughton a.k.a Scarecrow (not to be confused with Batman's enemy), the villain who fights Ghost Rider on a regular basis, also fits. He is a psychopathic ex-contortionist who found that the life of a child killer would be much more fulfilling. One of this sicko's highlights was when he once murdered a mother and her baby with a pitchfork, but still ultimately pales in comparison to what was probably his lowest moment. Later on, he tried to make a building out of people by stitching them all together with some being lucky enough to be dead while others were trapped in an agonizing fate, viewing this as a masterpiece. When Ghost Rider saw this, Scarecrow killed one of the people making up the building and threatened to kill more if Ghost Rider didn't let him slowly torture him to death. Thankfully, this didn't succeed and Ghost Rider broke every bone in Scarecrow's body and the audience rejoiced.
    • Zadkiel, the Arch Enemy in the Jason Aaron series, is a truly monstrous excuse for an angel. The lord of the Black Host, Zadkiel was also the angel in charge of the Spirits of Vengeance and began to desire to use them to overthrow both God and humanity. Zadkiel subtly influenced the lives of Johnny Blaze and Dan Ketch, destroying those close to them to make them vulnerable to the Ghost Rider spirits. Zadkiel, as The Man Behind the Man, negotiated multiple deals with demons and other monsters on earth, allowing them to prey upon those they wished, while directing his other minions to murder multiple innocents in addition to those who could prove problematic—and everyone close to them as well. Even death brought no respite as Zadkiel showed a penchant for annihilating the souls of his defeated enemies. While manipulating Danny Ketch, Zadkiel showed no remorse slaughtering and torturing his angelic brethren until he finally had the powers of the Riders and banished Ketch and Blaze to earth to die in the apocalypse he would create. Zadkiel succeeded in conquering heaven and began to achieve omnipotence with his final goal to become the new God and then commence genocide on all of humanity and all other beings who didn't worship him.
    • Mephisto, the most prominent Demon Lord in the Marvel Universe and the most evil, is Ghost Rider's boss, but his actions spread far beyond just Ghost Rider. Mephisto powers his realm and his person by the souls he imprisons, often by making a pact with the victims. Mephisto doesn't play fair and is fond of ruining the wish by playing off Exact Words. Mephisto has been known to cure a loved one's terminal illness, only to have the beneficiary killed the next day. Not making a deal is no guarantee of safety and Mephisto has been known to torment, torture and kill those he can. In one instance, he captured the brother of an enemy of Thor to force the Thunder God to enter his domain. Mephisto had already fed his hostage to his realm's fires and contented himself with crushing Thor's spirit before sending him back to earth. During the Infinity Gauntlet crisis, Mephisto chose to encourage Thanos to destroy more and more, while plotting to seize ultimate power himself. During the attack of the Serpent, Mephisto wandered into a bar to vent to the barkeep. When the man asked to be immortal, Mephisto ground him into nothing and used his blood to write letters: words are immortal, after all. Finally, Mephisto is also a hideously abusive father to his 'son' and creation Blackheart: mentally and physically torturing the younger demon until he snapped and became as dangerous as his father.
    • Elias "Eli" Morrow in All New Ghost Rider was a Mafia hitman, who has was killed by his own boss, who found out that Eli was also a Satanist and a Serial Killer. But, using dark magic, Eli managed to came back as a spirit, merging with his nephew Roberto "Robbie" Reyes—the title character— immediately working to corrupt him and strengthen their connection until Eli can take control over Robbie's body; this included, among other acts, manipulating the boy into accidentally killing an innocent person. Once Eli takes over, he acts abusive towards Robbie's younger brother, Gabriel "Gabe" Reyes, creating a rift between the two brothers. After trying to murder Robbie's teacher, Eli then goes on a killing spree to avenge his own death. After Robbie takes his body back, Eli tries pushing him more and more to kill somebody, which would allow him to take over again. When that doesn't work Eli manipulates Gabe into jumping from a building, allowing Eli to form a similar connection with Gabe as he did with Robbie; this transforms Gabe into a monster and almost makes him kill Robbie. Eli also claims to be responsible for Gabe's condition, by pushing his mother from the stairs, trying to kill her, when she was pregnant. Once Robbie bonds with Eli permanently, he has to resort to hunting and killing worst kinds of murderers and rapists to feed Eli's thirst for blood and to keep the spirit away from hurting Gabe and other people he cares about; Eli just wants blood, not caring who it's from. Even Johnny Blaze, who had seen his share of monsters as the original Ghost Rider, was disgusted by this guy.
  • After seeing his father shoot himself during a game of Russian Roulette, Iron Man villain Obadiah Stane reached two conclusions: that life was a game you had to win at, no matter the cost, and that his father was a weakling who left too much to chance. During a childhood chess match, when paired against a boy who was his equal or better, Stane slit the boy's pet dog's throat to make sure his mind wasn't on the game. Becoming a Corrupt Corporate Executive, Stane defeated Tony Stark in a corporate buyout, and engineered his psychological breakdown, reducing Tony to living on the streets as a homeless, alcoholic vagrant. When Tony returned as Iron Man, Stane wasted no time in kidnapping his friends and loved ones, going so far as to try and brainwash one of Tony's former girlfriends into becoming his lover, not out of interest, but to drive in the fact that he had won; he then set off a bomb at the Circuit Dome to kill Tony with no compunction about collateral damage. When Tony arrived to confront him, Stane revealed he'd set up a chamber with Tony's loved ones subject to receiving electric shocks should he take a step to free them, intending to force Tony to starve to death in the room. When Tony beat Stane's game, Stane played his last trump card: Tony would surrender or Stane would use his own suit to crush a baby's skull. Once beaten, Stane opted to hurt Tony and deny him victory the only way he could: suicide.
    • Wong Chu started off as Iron Man's first major villain but later became something worse. In the original version of Iron Man's origin, Wong Chu was an Asian warlord who ran a PoW Camp. After Tony Stark was injured while visiting a war zone, Wong Chu captured him and brought him to his camp, so that Stark could make weapons for him. Stark instead made the Iron Man armor, not before Wong Chu's men killed Yinsen, the kindly scientist who helped Stark create the armor. Wong Chu was about to order his men to kill all the prisoners in the camp, but he was seemingly killed during a battle with Iron Man. Wong Chu managed to survive and reappeared in in 2000's "The Sons of Yinsen" storyline. Deciding to become a drug lord, he opened a more brutal camp in a remote Asian jungle and kidnapped villagers to work as slaves and produce narcotics for him. The Sons of Yinsen, a group that revered the original Yinsen, informed Stark of Wong Chu's camp. Iron Man and his allies attack the camp, discovering that Wong Chu also uses children as slaves. When Iron Man and his allies confront Wong Chu, Wong Chu is sitting on a throne made of human skulls. Wong Chu threatens to murder two dozen slaves if Iron Man and his allies don't surrender. When they do surrender, Wong Chu executes them anyway, then tortures Stark and his allies, before planning to execute them, taking them to a pit filled with thousands of corpses of murdered slaves.
    • In Iron Man: Operation AIM, following the supposed death of the original Modok, AIM creates a new version of this monstrosity to help fight against their creations the adaptoids (androids who can copy anyone) who have turned against them. After one of AIM's scientists volunteers to to undergo this experiment, he is dubbed Modok 1.5 and quickly turns against AIM, throwing in his lot with the adaptoids and becoming their master. Modok goes to an AIM undersea base looking for an experimental energy chip, slaughtering all the AIM scientists who were present. Iron Man and his allies (Captain America, Black Panther and War Machine) go around the world to stop Modok from acquiring the ingredients to make a new energy chip. One of Modok's adaptoid minions is disguised as the Mandarin, attacking an AIM space station, killing everyone on board and tries to cause the space station to crash into Miami to cover his escape. Modok takes over Stark Enterprises and uses its resources to complete the chip. Then he tells Iron Man is terrifying plan, he will use the chip's power to increase his mental powers and wipe out all of humanity and replace them adaptoids. He will then go to space and slaughter any alien civilization he finds and replace them with adaptoids as well. Eventually he will destroy the adaptoids as well, when he develops something better to replace them with. Declaring himself an "Angel of Death" who has transcended humanity, this new Modok is even more vicious then the original.
  • Baron Wolfgang von Strucker, Nick Fury's Arch Enemy (as well as frequent rival of Captain America, Iron Man, and The Avengers), has the dubious honor of being both a Nazi war criminal and an international terrorist as the leader of HYDRA. A German noble who subscribed to racial superiority, Strucker achieved a high rank in the Death's Head and earned a personal enmity with Nick Fury himself. In a crowning moment of monstrosity on World War 2, Strucker found a race of benevolent, emphatic aliens that crashed near the small German town of Gruenstadt. To cover his tracks, Strucker killed the entire population of the town and planned to manipulate the aliens into providing him their technology. As head of HYDRA, Strucker ordered countless terrorist attacks throughout the globe that claimed the lives of many, many innocent people, all the while secretly controlling SHIELD through Life Model Decoys and playing his enemy's to get many agents killed while HYDRA continued its plans unabated. Strucker's ultimate goals are global domination and genocide of all 'lower races', and he made many attempts at both. When informed his son Andreas had been murdered by Norman Osborn, Strucker's only response was that he owed Osborn a favor. He also killed his eldest son with the Death Spore Virus, which is just as awful as it sounds: it's bonded to Strucker’s body and allows him to kill personally through his body. Oh, and he was once The Dragon to Red Skull.
  • Redstone from the Supreme Power comic series is invulnerable, superstrong, has heat vision, and uses these powers to kill innocent bystanders in the most horrifically graphic ways imaginable. He tears off limbs, hurls cars, boils people in swimming pools with his heat vision, threatens Los Angeles with a nuclear bomb while having the most pleasant facial expression imaginable. No wonder Hyperion wants to kill him. Essentially, he's Superman without a conscience and with an extremely violent and depraved personality even before gaining his power
  • Malekith the Accursed, one of the foes of The Mighty Thor, is the cruel ruler of the dark elves of Svartleheim, whom even his people hate and fear. Serving as the harbinger of Surtur, Malekith hunts for the Casket of Ancient Winters, murdering any who get in his way. Malekith in his spare time also hunts down goodhearted, virtuous people, and devours their souls as the souls of the virtuous are a delicacy for him. When he grows to hate Thor, Malekith is too happy to sacrifice or torture his own people to get at the Thunder God and unleashed the Casket of Ancient Winters to plunge Earth into a frozen wasteland to hurt Thor and unleash Surtur. Malekith plans to let Surtur burn every realm, with no care if his fellow Dark Elves are caught in the blaze, as long as he profits from it. Even after his death, the Dark Elves despise him.
    • As one would expect from Garth Ennis, during his miniseries called Thor: Vikings, he gave us one hell of a monster in the form of Harald Jaekelsson. A bloodthirsty madman who takes the pillaging and raping stereotype of a Viking to its extreme, Harald and his followers were cursed to roam the sea for a thousand years after they slaughtered and raped the inhabitants of a village. When their curse wore off, the result was Harald and his men making port at New York in 2003 as nearly invincible zombies with their killing cravings intact. He led his men in laying waste to New York, slaughtering and raping its inhabitants with the end result being a bloody, gory, burned out hellhole that Harald ruled on a throne of human bones at the Empire State Building. He also has no respect whatsoever for his foes, going as far as to humiliate Thor before drowning him in the Hudson River. Despite not getting a particularly long run Harald still is a definite stand-out among the worst of the God of Thunder's enemies.
  • Created by Dr. Henry Pym, Ultron gained a malignant intelligence and came to the conclusion that morality was irrelevant and humanity was flawed. To this end, Ultron sought to destroy or replace humanity with androids like himself. Ultron created androids such as The Vision and Jocasta as a surrogate son and bride, but both rejected his monstrosity, resulting in Ultron attempting to kill them on multiple occasions. When an alternate model turned good and embraced Pym as its father, Ultron destroyed it out of disgust. After creating his new son, Victor Mancha, Ultron mind controlled him to make him murder his friends and executed Victor's mother in front of him. In other instances, Ultron would take over a country and massacre the population, using the corpses to form a model of his face large enough to see from space. While typically a threat limited to earth, Ultron's intelligence was absorbed by and then took over the Phalanx in Annihilation Conquest before ruthlessly conquering and assimilating the Kree Empire, destroying and torturing all those who would resist. A fully self aware being, Ultron simultaneously believe himself to be above humanity while succumbing to the worst of human emotion, ego and cruelty and directed his Phalanx army at earth, vowing to destroy it solely to spite his 'father, ' Dr. Pym. For Hank, the worst thing about Ultron is that its thought patterns are based on Hank's own mind. Hank really doesn't like what that might imply about him.
    • In one What If? story, after successfully killing every living thing on the planet, Ultron allows his "father" Hank Pym to live, solely so that for the decades to come, he can brutally torture him, wipe his memory of the torture, then start all over again to slowly break his human spirit, all because he "can". Later learning of the multiverse, Ultron organizes full-scale wars on 4 alternate dimensions nearby , massacring everything in his path on 4 separate Earths. Ultron's final plan is to continue spreading his influence across every reality, hoping to eventually kill every living thing in the multiverse, uncaring that this plan could very well destroy reality itself. Continuing his streak of misanthropy and sadism displayed in many of his iterations, this Ultron sticks out as one of his most depraved variations yet.
    • All-Father Ultron in Ultron Forever dubbed himself the "Ultimate Ultron" centuries ago when he slaughtered all of Earth's heroes in a bloodbath before going on to conquer the whole planet. Having trapped all of Asgard in a mirror dimension and turned the god Loki into a suffering nanovirus to acheive All-Father status, Ultron subjected billions of humans to horrible mind-alterations that left him mostly mindless "bio-slaves" who Ultron forces to maintain their own control centers out of sick amusement for the "puppets maintaining their strings". Turning several innocents into transformed superhumans he dubs his Avengers, Ultron leaves them just enough consciousness to realize their lack of control and subjugation, all while Ultron spreads his influence through the universe and plans to turn all the multiverse into one Ultron singularity.
  • From the comic book adaptation of Anita Blake we have Dominga Salvador, aka the Senora. In order to stop the rampage of a zombie killer, Anita tries to enlist the aid of this powerful voodoo priestess, but discovers she has been taking souls and forcing them back into their dead bodies to stop the process of rotting, but at the cost of leaving the souls painfully aware of their situation in an And I Must Scream scenario. To prove her theory, she explains to Anita how she returned the soul to a zombie, then took it out to leave it to rot, then put it back into the body to see if it will stop decaying. Not only does she use these zombies to make money in the prostitution ring, under the excuse that she has legal possession of the bodies from families who paid to see them suffer, but plans to sell her knowledge to the highest bidder.
  • In Annihilation Annihilus becomes this. No longer content with ruling the Negative Zone, Annihilus leads an army of insect monsters out in the galaxy in what is aptly termed The Annihilation Wave, consuming whole star systems and devouring worlds. Implementing ghastly tactics like having worlds and their people broken down for fuel on board his Harvesters, Annihilus's attacks make the Skrulls an endangered species and cause the extinction of many races. After brutally murdering the hero Quasar, Annihilus even succeeds in having Galactus captured and uses his energy to fuel his superweapons with which he has one goal: to obliterate everything that lives and reign over the void.
  • Bruce Banner's father, Brian, was a particularly loathsome example cut from a different cloth than most of the characters on this list. An alcoholic Abusive Father who was insanely jealous of the attention his wife, Rebecca, gave to his newborn son, Brian convinced himself young Bruce's amazing intelligence was due to his own exposure to radiation as a nuclear researcher, which resulted in Bruce being born a "monster". After years of physical and emotional abuse, Rebecca decided to leave Brian and take Bruce with her, and in retaliation, Brian killed her, intimidating Bruce into not revealing the truth to the courts, but ended up revealing himself in a drunken stupor, resulting in him being institutionalized for years. After being released, he was placed in the now grown-up Bruce's care, but it quickly became apparent he hadn't really changed and still regarded his son as a freak and attempted to murder him only for Bruce to kill him in self-defense (though it is suggested that Bruce actually enjoyed doing it on some level). He was so unpleasant that the cops didn't even bother to run an investigation on his death when they found the body. The worst thing about Brian Banner is that despite him being a fictional comic book character, there is absolutely nothing about his story that is fantastical or supernatural; although the abuse he put Bruce through laid the psychological groundwork for the Hulk's birth, Brian himself wasn't a masked supervillain, a Mad Scientist, or even a victim of Demonic Possession. He was simply an evil bastard who did horrible things and is a person who can quite possibly exist in everyday life.
    • It Got Worse in a What If issue, where Bruce himself ended up apparently admiring the guy and taking on all of his worst traits. A thoroughly disturbing comic book commenced, where poor Betty was beaten, hospitalized, and, when she finally drew up enough nerve to fight back, Bruce abused his connections to have her committed. Somehow, the small blurb at the end about seeking help for real life cases of domestic abuse didn't seem enough to offset the Unfortunate Implications...
      • During the Chaos War, he came back...as some sort of Devil Hulk and Guilt Hulk mix. To clarify, those are the two most monstrous Hulk personas in Bruce's mind, the latter being an incarnation of his guilt and the former being every single worst bit of his personality turned Up to Eleven. Think about it.
    • Abusive dick he may be, Brian is hardly the only monster the Hulk has fought against. The Maestro is a future version of the Hulk who shows what happens when the Hulk casts away any and all humanizing qualities: he becomes a savage dictator with a hell of an ego problem. Ruling a city fittingly called Dystopia ninety years in the future, Maestro will take anything and everything that his subjects need such as food and other supplies and brutally murders anyone who opposes him, leaving their corpses outside his lair for show while having his secret police root out any potential threats to his rule. He even doesn't care about any old friends of his, as he coldly murdered Rick Jones for taking a stand against him. He's also a hardcore misogynist, kidnapping any woman he finds attractive and forcing her to become a sex slave to pleasure him in any way he demands, even admitting to the Hulk that he abandoned his wife Betty Ross years back in favor of his slaves because they won't stand up to him or think for themselves the way she did. And if physical rape wasn't enough, he also has a thing for Mind Rape as well, reducing people to mindless husks with a specialized machine that he demonstrates on a lone rebel. and that's not even going into what all he puts his heroic past-self through: Upon meeting the Hulk, Maestro uses a slave girl as a human shield to get the Hulk to surrender. Not satisfied with that, Maestro breaks Hulk's neck and forces another slave girl to rape him just for shits and giggles. Fittingly enough, the Hulk considers him not just vile, but one of the most abominable creatures he's ever had to face off against.
    • There's also the Red King from Planet Hulk. Just to name some of his atrocities, this guy has a god complex, imprisons everyone who even dares to say 'But' in front of him, burns dozens of people alive because they are 'bothering' him, releases death-bringing insectoids on civilian targets just to stop his opposers, and when he is backed against the wall, he tries to destroy the entire planet!. His excuse? "Yes. I killed them. As is my Right. As is my Duty. As is my Pleasure."
  • Bedlam: Before being brutally tortured, lobotomized, and reconstituted into becoming the pacifistic hero "Fillmore Press", Madder Red was a sickeningly sadistic psychopath with nothing driving him beyond his base lust for chaos and evil, and a desire to prove that, deep down, all of humanity could be just as wicked as himself. As the worst terror the city of Bedlam ever faced, Madder Red spent the better part of three years torturing, maiming, and killing his way to a status of legendary infamy, claiming over two thousand victims throughout his career. Notable instances of his random cruelty include gunning down numerous innocents at a religious gathering after decapitating two of the church leaders, massacring an entire restaurant filled with dozens of people to make sure he gets "good service", and brutalizing his archnemesis, the First, with a baseball bat. In his so-called greatest achievement, Madder Red slaughtered an entire opera house of defenseless civilians, including a class of elementary school children whose blood he proceeded to play in, disemboweled, posed, and violated the corpses, then slit the only surviving little girl's throat in front of the First just to anger him. Madder Red then reveals, after being caught, that if he's not dead within one hour, his associates will detonate bombs located in six schools across the city and kill hundreds of children and adults alike. Combining a darkly hilarious humor with a sadistic love of depravity, Madder Red was an unrepentant fiend who many tried to discount as a simple thug or terrorist solely to keep the public from seeing him as what he truly was: A devil-like monster with nary an excuse or reason for his crimes beyond a lust for degeneracy across the world.
  • Karla Sofen aka Moonstone of the Masters of Evil and a founding member of the Thunderbolts definitely counts. As a psychiatrist, she was able to manipulate the original Moonstone into giving up his power source and would convince her patients suffering from depression to kill themselves in front of her. Later, she impersonated Ms. Marvel in Norman Osborn's Dark Avengers, and it was revealed that Karla killed her mother in order to prevent her from learning that she was a villain. Carol Danvers, the actual Ms. Marvel, forcefully took the power source from her in a duel, knowing that Karla wouldn't be able to survive if it was away from her long. She gave Karla an ultimatum: redeem herself or die. Carol placed the moonstone at the grave of Karla's mother in hopes that she would redeem, but later, Karla took back the moonstone and destroyed her mother's grave marker.
  • Dread Lord Dormmamu, the monotheistic God Tyrant of the Dark Dimension, is Darkseid on a higher, even more horrifying scale, worshiped as a god in millions of other universes, creator of kings of hell of the highest order, and wants to turn all the heavens and earth into a hellish torture camp for all eternity.
    • In What If Tony Stark Was the Sorcerer Supreme?, Dormammu breaks the monotony of ruling the Dark Dimension as a tyrant by attempting to invade and conquer Earth to feed off of its mystical energies. Dormammu exploits the desire of Doctor Strange—who, in this universe, never received the powers of the Sorcerer Supreme— to have his hands again, convincing him to sell out mankind in exchange for the use of his hands, "gifting" Strange his powers back by attaching a parasite to him that slowly and fatally drains away his life. Planning to simply leave Earth to be ravaged by the Mindless Ones once he's done with it, Dormammu is just as much a monster as he is in canon.
  • Infinity: Dark Reign: With the powers of the Infinity Gauntlet, Norman Osborn himself quickly highlights the disaster bred by merging a raging, narcissistic ego with the power to warp reality. Osborn quickly uses his powers to slaughter the Avengers and all the world's heroes, sparing an especially cruel fate for his arch-nemesis Peter Parker by forcing him to relive the moment where he killed Gwen Stacy for all time, while brainwashing the rest of the world to worship him. Although initially suggested Osborn does all of this to finally gain the approval of his father, Osborn voids any potential redemption he could take out of this by mind-washing and then vaporizing his own father in a paranoid fury, only concerned with slaking his own ego and making people love him on the basis of his monstrous accomplishments.
  • Kynkos, the son of Ares. He is first introduced in a flashback in The Incredible Hercules when Hercules found him building a temple for his father...out of human skulls. He returns in Dark Avengers: Ares and tries to kill his father to take his place. And eat his dead body alongside those of the Mares - four demonic horses that are his half-siblings, and make himself a crown out of his skull. Even Ares was utterly disgusted by him.
  • The Ultimate Universe version of Reed Richards is a sociopathic, vindictive megalomaniac with a pathological desire to "save" humanity, regardless of how depraved or insane the methods might be. Though starting out as a seemingly heroic figure, Reed slowly gives into his true personality of a homicidal creep seeking ultimate rule over reality. Kicking his villainy off by vaporizing his parents and child sisters, Reed later recuperates from initiating a failed alien invasion of Earth by creating the City and the Children of Tomorrow. Using his new "evolved" humanity as his personal soldiers and puppets while claiming benevolence, Reed has them begin absorbing entire cities before annihilating all of Washington, D.C. Slaughtering the entirety of Asgard and attempting the same on Tian, Reed eventually teams up with Kang to rewrite reality and take over time and space, all while planning to turn on Kang and change reality to his own wishes. After revealing his seeming redemption was faked, Reed destroys over sixty alternate Earths before trying once more to rewrite reality in his image, and now haunts the Prime Marvel Universe with schemes of zombifying thousands of people. With a penchant for vivisection and torturous experimentation, Reed constantly boasts claims of well intentions, when in reality, Reed is nothing but a petty child seeking adoration and power over all life.
  • Ultimate Marvel's version of Deadpool is a far more chilling incarnation of the normally-bumbling character of the same name. An extremely racist and sadistic individual who hunts and kills mutants on live television for the "crime" of simply being mutants, Ultimate Deadpool makes his first appearance in the pages of Ultimate Spider-Man where he and his mechanically modified Reavers kidnap the X-Men, as well as Spider-Man, who had been visiting the X-Mansion at the time, and take them to the island of Genosha, where Deadpool and his Reavers proceed to hunt them on live TV for sport, much to the joy of anti-mutant viewers everywhere. Having been forced to flee from attacking Reavers, the X-Men eventually manage to unmask Deadpool, who uses his shapeshifting to trick them into thinking that he's really Professor X in disguise, purely to spite them For the Evulz. Thankfully, he does get his just deserts when Kitty Pryde phases through him and sabotages his circuits, and again when he finally gets stabbed to death by Earth 616 Deadpool during the events of Deadpool Kills Deadpool. A sadistic murderer who is completely and utterly remorseless over the billions of mutants that he has killed on his show purely for the thrill of it, this Deadpool is among the worst that the Ultimate Marvel universe has to offer.
  • Like Magneto and Deadpool, Galactus' Ultimate counterpart, Gah Lak Tus, is much, much more despicable. Instead of killing planets to survive and being able to be reasoned with, Gah Lak Tus is a swarm of drones who are repulsed by organic life and destroys entire inhabited planets to exterminate them. It first drives populations of creatures insane, so a good number of them kill each other before Gah Lak Tus even reaches there.
  • Hybrid, the mutant son of a human woman and a Dire Wraith. He took to the lessons in evil and power that his Dire Wraith tutors taught him so well that his father (who had reformed out of love for Hybrid's mother) feared that he was worse than his fellow Wraiths. Since the Dire Wraiths are a race of Complete Monsters, that's saying something. In his debut, Hybrid murders his parents, pits Rom and the X-Men against each other by pretending to be a helpless child, and tries to kidnap Kitty Pryde so he can rape her as part of his plan to breed an army of hybrids like himself. He also plans to do the same thing to all other female mutants. All at the age of fifteen. When Hybrid shows up again in Avengers Academy, he is just as evil and even more powerful.
  • The Marquis of Death is a minor Arc Villain of The Fantastic Four, but handily makes his mark as one of the most monstrous individuals across Marvel Comics. Originally one version of the brain damaged Clyde Wyncham on an alternate Earth, the Marquis discovered his love of slaughter after murdering dozens of heroes and villains when his mind was fully returned to him, and became dedicated to killing as many things as possible. First massacring every single one of the 7 billion people on his own Earth, the Marquis spent the next billion years travelling to various Earths then slowly exterminating all life on each and every one, always drawing out the deaths of heroes and forcing them into Sadistic Choices for his own sick amusement. Through this, the Marquis annihilates millions of universe and amasses an unfathomable bodycount before finally showing up on the 616 Earth, where he annihilates all of Latveria then viciously executing his loyal servant Dr. Doom for going too slow in destroying 616's heroes. The Marquis goes on to torment the Fantastic Four with the millions of versions of their loves ones he has murdered, then tries to manipulate Mr. Fantastic into compromising his morality for the life of his universe, after which he attempts to simply kill this Earth as well then continue his dimension-wide omnicide career. His power surpassed only by his sadism and evil, the Marquis of Death has one of the most horrifying bodycounts across all media, and handily sticks out as the most evil Fantastic Four villain.
  • Micronauts: Baron Karza is the truly monstrous, psychopathic dictator who has terrorized the Microverse for 1,000 years, and is the Arch Enemy of the Micronauts. Originally a lowly scientist for the royal family of Homeworld, Karza was left for dead after failing to instigate a coup, and, when revived by a powerful and kind cult, whose secrets he stole for himself before forcibly transmuting them into his personal army, Karza returned to Homeworld to institute his own tyrannical rule. Karza's first act after massacring the royal family was to create the Body Banks, a pit of machine horrors that he uses to butcher innocents, harvest their organs and body parts, then use said harvested parts to make himself and his followers nigh immortal. The downtrodden of Homeworld are taken to the Body Banks when they run out of money to pay Karza's taxes, and, though many of said poor citizens attempt to start a resistance, Karza wastes no time in brutally putting down any and all rebellion to his rule, either through gunfire or by feeding them to his Body Banks. Taking sick glee in mass murder and genocide, Karza razes entire planets, sacrifices millions of people at a time to his Body Banks, and uses a solar cannon to boil an entire race of sea people alive, cackling all the way. To keep his forces ever-growing, Karza locks hundreds of women in impregnation machines, forcing them to give birth to thousands of babies Karza raises into sociopathic fanatics loyal to him, the process driving the women insane. Though seemingly dying numerous times, often after trying to take countless innocents down with him, Karza always returns, stronger than ever, to continue his atrocities. In the end, Karza butchers the entire population of Homeworld, turning them into agony-stricken monstrosities, solely to torment the Micronauts, and later attempts to doom the entire Microverse in one final attempt to save his own skin. A self-proclaimed "artist of atrocities" whose only desire in life is to be the most wicked being he can, Baron Karza was a shockingly vile villain for Marvel Comics, with nothing remotely sympathetic or redeeming about him.
  • Supreme Power:
    • Michel Redstone is a heinous Serial Killer who, after being granted superpowers, becomes the one of the most evil villains the Squadron Supreme face. Even when a regular human being, Redstone's killing career began after he tortured his CO in the military for 5 hours before murdering her, just for being a woman. Following this up by becoming a Serial Killer of prostitutes, Redstone is later experimented on by the government, who grant him superpowers. Using these powers, Redstone continues his spree, murdering several more women by ripping their limbs off and keeping them for trophies. When confronted by the hero Hyperion, Redstone flees while murdering everyone in his way, notably using a child as ammo to fling at Hyperion. After making a deal with the government, Redstone becomes a U.S. operative who is dropped into foreign countries the the order to kill as many people as possible to destabilize said countries, and, in his final appearance, Redstone holds Los Angeles hostage with a nuclear bomb, order Hyperion to allow himself to be beaten to death lest the city be destroyed, and Redstone takes time during their duel to brutally murder innocents in various ways just to torment Hyperion. With no professed reason for his crimes beyond a love of killing, Redstone was handily the most personal foe Hyperion ever faced.
    • Whiteface, real name Stephen Binst, is the main antagonist of the spin-off story Supreme Power: Nighthawk, and is the most depraved man Nighthawk has ever fought against. Once a pharmacist who sought to "fill a hole of unhappiness" in his life, Whiteface developed a lethal drug that he planned to spread throughout Chicago, hoping that a massive bodycount would be enough to make him feel happy in life, and tests the compound on a poor woman and her family, killing the entire household including the two children and a baby. Years later, having awaken from a catatonic state brought on by being assaulted, maimed, and possibly raped in prison for his deplorable crimes, Whiteface escapes confinement, kills and takes the outfit of a clown, then replaces a shipment of cocaine with his lethal drug, resulting in over 3800 deaths of men, women, and children alike in just three days. Later poisoning the guests at a child's birthday party, resulting in numerous children's deaths, Whiteface then murders a crippled woman, a nurse, another man for his outfit, and kidnaps a baby. Traveling to a local water plant, brutally murdering 3 police officers along the way, Whiteface gleefully flings the kidnapped baby into the water processing unit, hoping for him to drown while he makes his escape from a recently arrived Nighthawk. A sadist who believed mass murder would bring joy into hid life, Whiteface, despite his lack of superpowers, stood out even among the likes of Redstone as a truly disgusting lunatic.
  • Ultraverse
    • Rex Mundi is possibly the greatest villain the Ultraverse has ever known. Once a caveman changed by alien visitors into the first Ultra, Mundi proceeded to gain his freedom and tested his powers by slaughtering innocents left and right. Desiring a perfect 'utopia' to reign over, Mundi created a perfect mate who would eventually become known as Regina who broke from him due to the evil of his plans. Disgusted by the appearance of other Ultras, Mundi would create NM-E, a mechanical monster that hunts down and kills Ultras along with any innocents nearby. Over the course of centuries, Mundi has been responsible for the deaths of countless Ultras and innocents, while creating a web of criminal empires that foster more death and misery. Forming a deep enmity with the Ultra Hardcase, Mundi eventually reveals his true plans: to exterminate the Ultras to the last before he completely destroys the mind of all the billions of innocents on earth to serve him in his utopia. A tyrant with delusions of godhod, Mundi stands as one of the greatest threats ever faced by the Ultras.
    • King Pleasure is a vicious human trafficker and crime lord who specializes in people "easily missed" for his business. A depraved sadist on his own time, Pleasure keeps a harem of personal slaves for him to torture and rape all to slake his sense of satisfaction, treating his slaves and even his own men as easily-replaced property and even inducting a young boy to serve his tastes as well. Finally confronted by Solitaire, Pleasure tries to flee his "Pleasure Dome" as it burns down, leaving his chained-up slaves to burn alive and gleefully spouting his insurance doesn't cover human lives. Even as an incredibly minor villain, King Pleasure still stands out as a pedophilic, self-indulgent monster thoroughly drained of any decent qualities.
    • Lord Boneyard, archenemy of Lukasz/Mantra and brother of her mentor Archimage, is a lecherous tyrant with a legacy of pain behind him. Even before the main plot, Boneyard has long ruled his dimension as a despot with rebels killed and slavery of all sorts promoted throughout the realm, having already murdered Lukasz's wife and brainwashed Archimage's wives into becoming servile concubines he rapes at his own whim. Eventually butchering Lukasz's allies and kidnapping Archimage, Boneyard exults when Lukasz is transferred into a female body and resolves to turn her into breeding stock, solely to father children to fatally harvest magical energies from. Throughout the series, Boneyard routinely butchers dozens of his own people to power his scrying pool, tries to eat a toddler on a whim, and redirects the demons attacking his realm to Earth to let them ravage it, constantly attacking Mantra and all her friends while viciously punishing his own minions and all else who stand against him. In his cruelest scheme, Boneyard, after having tortured Archimage to a battered wreck over a course of months, sets him up to be publicly executed to draw out Mantra — before casting an illusion and tricking her into killing Archimage with a monstrous smile on his face. The architect of unending misery and spite throughout the series, Boneyard is loathed and feared by every soul who knows his name and deeds.
    • The Degenerate is a twisted arsonist, obsessed with proving the true 'ugliness' of society. To this end, he targets beautiful artworks, historical sites and famous people, murdering large amounts of innocents with the fires he sets. When Solitaire is on his trail, he tracks the Degenerate to an orchestra performance where the Degenerate incinerates the conductor and attempts to burn down everyone in attendance. Escaping justice, the Degenerate casually murders a father in front of his daughter before attempting his most audacious and monstrous plan yet: kidnapping or buying dozens of children, the Degenerate takes them to a famous art museum, locked in barrels where he intends to burn them alive as his greatest statement, taking only one to be his apprentice when the child proves more sadistic than the rest. Obsessed with proving every human being is nothing more than 'slime,' the Degenerate delights in every fire he sets and the innocent lives he destroys.
    • Lord Pumpkin, one of the most recurring and wicked villains to come out of the Ultraverse, started life as a mere magical construct for a bratty prince intended as his friend, only to horribly murder the prince once he tired of his abuses, kill his parents, and transform their fair kingdom into a pit of sorrow where all who stood against him were killed. Pumpkin, on Earth, becomes a drug lord to begin his intended conquest, massacring his rivals peddling "Zuke" which leads to countless innocents — children included — driven to insanity and many else killed, later violently killing, resurrecting, and mutating the clowns and audience of a circus he ends up in after his first death and keeping them bound as agonized freaks. Killed again, Pumpkin rebirths by slowly and painfully taking over the body of his only friend before using his new position as servant of the god Argus to try and take over the Godwheel itself. Failing this and once again defeated, Pumpkin restores himself by manipulating a lonely little girl into freeing him from his bonds, before slaughtering her parents and brutally crushing the girl's neck while cackling over his betrayal. Even shortly before his final moments, Pumpkin still plots the death of all those who stood against him and their families while resuming his throne. Even with numerous excuses and reasons offered for his endlessly vile ways, Pumpkin undermines and subverts all of them, ultimately standing as nothing more than an unrepentant sadist followed by death wherever he goes.
