Coy Girlish Flirt Pose

A common pose for young ladies to show they are interested in someone, but in a subtle way rather than being overly seductive. This is Truth in Television, which makes it a good characterization visual in fiction.

The common form is to hold her arms behind her back (which by itself is a common pose for shy girls, and it's the key here to making her not look too forthcoming) and tilt her head coyly, while leaning towards, or walking towards, the person she's interested in. Bonus points if she is standing just a bit off angle.

Should also be noted that what the girl is wearing doesn't matter. It's how she carries herself. She could wear Dominatrix gear and still pull off this trope.

• Pictured above: A Neon Genesis Evangelion illustration has Asuka pulling this pose.
• Mahou Sensei Negima does this with Chisame in Episode 11 (fast-forward to around five minutes, then onwards). Bonus points for acting as an internet personality (Chiu Chiu), dressing up like something out The Wizard of Oz, and changing her voice.
• Hinagiku Katsura of Hayate the Combat Butler does this pose quite a bit in the manga up to and after she is aware of her feelings for Hayate, somewhat notable in that she does little variations sometimes such as adding a spin when she's in a good mood.
• The girls in Wedding Peach occasionally do this when flirting with Yanagiba.
• Miki from the anime THE iDOLM@STER pulls this on the Producer from time to time.
• Expect Pokegirl companions of Ash in Pokémon to do this. Serena most notably. She even does it in the title screen before the episode's name is read out.
  • In the Mewtwo Strikes Back movie remake a female background character could be seen walking while doing this.
• Mimi especially in the 2020 remake of Digimon Adventure often does this.

Comic Books

• In Identity Crisis, during a flashback of Ralph Dibny meeting his future wife Sue for the first time, Sue does this pose while talking to him for the first time.

Film

• Smurfette does this in a poster for the live-action Smurfs movie.

Live-Action TV

• Wilma Deering does this occasionally in Buck Rogers in The 25th Century.
• Miranda Cosgrove when she was younger had photoshoots include this pose, and her ICarly character often uses it when trying to flirt with a guy she likes.
• Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Vampire girl Darla does this in "Angel"; subverted in that she's using the pose to hide two pistols behind her back.

Video Games

• Kairi does this in Kingdom Hearts, and although it's not for sexual reasons, it still shows she's not a shy or demure girl.
• Rikku in Final Fantasy X 2.
• This is one of Rinoa's stock motions in Final Fantasy VIII. She mostly uses it when Squall is being standoffish, which is often.
• Aerith does this in Final Fantasy VII, Crisis Core, and Kingdom Hearts. Looking at old recordings of her birth mother Ifalna indicate that she used to do this as well.
  • Tifa pulls this once in a while at the very beginning of the game.
• Marta does this over and over again in Tales of Symphonia Dawn of the New World.
• Hikari Hinomoto of Tokimeki Memorial 2 does this as her standard Tokimeki Status sprite pose.
• The dancer at the beginning of "Firework" in Just Dance 2.
• Maya Fey poses this way in one of her sprites in the Ace Attorney series.
• In a very Rare Male Example, Ash pulls it at times in The King of Fighters. Toi be fair, he's girly-looking enough to do it well. In a subversion, he most famously does it as Dark Ash, after his ancestor Saiki forcibly hijacks his body
• In Fire Emblem: Three Houses, some of Dorothea's and Hilda's full-body animations in their support conversations have them doing this. So do Professor Manuela's, despite her being in her thirties.
• Monika from Doki Doki Literature Club has this pose as one of her sprites.
• Ibuki in Street Fighter X Tekken does this as her win pose.
• A female citizen in Where in Time Is Carmen Sandiego? for the PC does this during the Si-Ngan-Fu section, when you give her something she wants.
• Ashley from Resident Evil 4 does this as her pose when the player sees what items she is holding when she has her default or popstar outfit. She has different poses if she is wearing armor
  • The remake Ashley does this pose certain times in gameplay.

• Ling Xiaoyu does this in one of her endings in Tekken Tag Tournament, when she gets out of school and catches up with Jin. It is her idle stance in the fighter select screen of Tekken 8.
• Garnet/Dagger does this as her win pose before her Important Haircut in Final Fantasy IX though it is rather hard to see. as the camera focuses on who got the last hit and Garnet is the weakest hitter at this point of the game before she gets summons. Usually needs to be set up so the camera focuses on her while she does this.
• Rumble Roses has the PS2 era Becky doing this in one of her artworks.
• In Fate:Grand Order, Mash Kyrielight's Final Ascension picture features her doing this.

Western Animation

• Lois does this pose in Family Guy when she does sexual roleplay and dresses as a Catholic schoolgirl.
• Quinn in Daria does a laid back version of this post. She doesn't really lean forward, which might mean she's a bit more shy than she let's on, or more insecure.
• Isabella in Phineas and Ferb, especially when she says "Whatcha doooooin'?". Other ladies in the show do this as well, even the girls in Sexy Santa Dresses during Doofensmirtz's song about not hating Christmas.
• Heloise tries this on Jimmy on Jimmy Two-Shoes.
• In South Park, Natalie Portman does this when she gently refuses to open her wormhole.
• Zelda from the cartoon does this to get Link to come to the room she secretly wants him to clean.
