Dabangg ("Fearless") is a 2010 Indian action film, starring Salman Khan, Sonu Sood, and Sonakshi Sinha.
Chubul Pandey (Khan) is your standard Noble Bigot with a Badge from rural India. Chubul fancies himself as a Robin Hood wannabe, as he is equally prone of kicking criminal ass and of keeping the criminal profit for himself (after giving some of it away). He also has a complicated, borderline antagonistic relationship with his stepfather Prajapati Pandey (Vinod Khanna) and his half brother Makkhi (Arbaaz Khan), despite the constant pleas of his mother Naina (Dimple Kapadia) for the three to get along.
Chubul's life complicates on three fronts almost simultaneously. First, he fall on the bad side of Chedi Singh (Sood), a corrupt politician who very soon sees Chubul as his archnemesis. Second, he meets and falls in love with the beautiful ceramist Rajjo (Sinha), who, while not completely rebuffing his advances, rejects his marriage proposal because she has to care for her alcoholic father. Third, Makkhi is so desperate to marry his girlfriend Nirmala (Mahi Gill), a union her father disproves for thinking that Makkhi has little character and his father rejects because her family is unable to bring a dowry, that he decides to directly steal from Chubul's savings and have the ceremony before he realizes the money is lost.
One day, Chubul gets home and finds his mother dead and his savings lost. After the funerals, he tries to make peace with his stepfather, but he is rejected. Makkhi invites Chubul to his wedding with Nirmala. Chubul brings Raijo, who has just lost her father, to the ceremony; when he realizes that the ceremony was paid with his stolen money, he immediately marries with Raijo in the place before his brother, causing Nirmala's family to cancel the marriage. This causes a ridge between the brothers that Chedi is too eager to use...
