Daikaijuu Monogatari is a video game series of mostly Role Playing Games developed by BIRTHDAY. It features a fire elemental hero and three ally creatures called Shell Beasts saving the world from evil. It utilizes a Dragon Quest-styled battle system on the games.

The original game was released in 1988 for the Nintendo Entertainment System as Kaijuu Monogatari. It was then published by Namco before BIRTHDAY decided to have a new publisher for their next hit game. The next game, called Daikaijuu Monogatari for the SNES, was released in 1994 before Christmas. As of that release, the series is published by Hudson Soft.

Birthday released a sequel called Daikaijuu Monogatari II for the SNES in late 1996, which includes a new cast (with some returning characters), more detailed graphics and a time system. In the following year, a Trading Card Game called Daikaijuu Monogatari: The Miracle of the Zone was available. There are two Game Boy games featuring this TCG. A manga based on the "MOZ" series was also released. A Spin-Off featuring one of the main Shell Beasts was released for the Game Boy Color, with a sequel too.

The Daikaijuu Monogatari series is presumed dormant since the turn of the Millenium, although a mobile port of the 1994 game was released in 2006. This series is one of the Dragon Quest clones out there. BIRTHDAY has been working on many properties in afterwards, including the anime Fushigiboshi no Futagohime.
