  • Ass Pull: There are...a lot of them in the latter part of the series.
    • Episode 15: Ichigo, through Deus Ex Machina, being able to see Hiro's memories about 002 and somehow pilots her mech together. Despite no foreshadowing of this.
    • Episode 19: Hey, we just built a Humongous Mecha! Oh, it's kills its pilots unless there is a male and female in the driver's seat. Unfortunate Implications much?
    • Episode 20: The Franxx are somehow Kalaxxlors. Just to blatantly to make another Evangelion homage, again.
    • Episode 21: The Klaxosaurs are an ancient race that predated humanity
      • The Nines are clones of Zero-Two for some reason.
      • Doctor Franxx having Klaxoshime's cell in his arm to breach the Star Entity.
      • Zero-Two's forgiving Dr. Franxx's during final conversation moments before he dies, despite the way he tortured her for years.
      • Klaxohime giving Zero-Two and Hiro the rest of her power to save the world.
    • Episode 22: Haichi and Nana are given access to a secret chamber that open up after Doctor Franxx's death. Containing all the parasites who were defective.
      • Since Kokoro is pregnant she can't be a pilot anymore. Despite that she was able to do so in the last episode.
      • Zero-Two somehow uploading her consensus in her Mech in the last episode. So she could fight the VIRM in space by herself and her real body gets wounded when Strezlia is damaged during battle. Despite the fact that this ability was never shown before than.
      • Three of the Nines some how surviving the destruction of their own Mechs in the previous episode.
    • Episode 23: Parts to upgrade all Franxx mecha for space combat are conveniently found and stored inside the Klaxosaur ship.
      • Hiro somehow being able partner with Alpha Nine. It's still considered an Ass Pull despite the fact he is a clone of Zero Two. Despite the fact that that Franxx need a male female to operate. As one review review put it "Alpha becomes nothing more than a convenient way for Hiro to pilot the FRANXX without “cheating” on Zero Two, since he's technically her clone." Giving us a lame sacrifice of a character who was an antagonist until the last episode.
      • The upgrade into Strezlia True Apus.
      • After the VRIM in the solar system are defeated. The moons Phobos and Demos are reveled to be two pieces of a warp gate created by the Klaxo sapiens so giant Zero Two can walk down it like a wedding isle.
    • Episode 24: Giving Hiro and Zero Two yet another power up turning Strezlia gold plus the Klaxosaur bomb that came from nowhere to destroy the VIRM home world.
  • Everybody Remembers the Stripper: The show is considered fairly average, with a more or less consistent first and second parts but a disappointing last act. It didn't stop Zero Two becoming incredibly popular on her own, receiving lots of fanart, cosplay, and even influencing the hairstyle of Kim Kardashian. Most of that can be attributed to her looks and character type.
  • Fandom Rivalry: Mainly with fans of other mecha shows, especially those of SSSS.Gridman. This is due to Franxx fan asking why there isn't more mecha shows like it when they have no idea what a good mecha anime is and refusing to watch any other that doesn't have those exact same elements.
    • After Getter Robo Arc is being adapted and set for a 2021 release, Getter Robo fans in 2020 began to ridicule FRANXX more than ever, with some started posting fan art of the Getter team or its titular robot beating up/murdering Zero Two.
  • The Scrappy: The hatedom for Ichigo exploded after the scene where she physically stopped Hiro from chasing after Zero Two by kissing him and confessing her love for him.. Social media went absolutely batshit, spamming the hashtag #bitchigo until it went viral, even going so far as to attack the creators and Ichigo's voice actor! (Poor, POOR Kana Ichinose...)
