Cquote2

A List Song (or poem) that lists the days of the week. Typically, it'll list all seven of them, saying a little something about each of them.

Examples of Days of the Week Song include:

Nursery Rhymes[]

Cquote1

Monday's child is fair of face,

Tuesday's child is full of grace...

Cquote2

  • "The Two Hunchbacks" (#90 in Calvino's Italian Folktales) includes a verse of this type.

  • The classic jazz hit "Sunday Kind of Love".
  • Older Than Radio: Billy Murray recorded a song around 1909, "The Rest Of The Week She's Mine", in which his girl was busy every day - "Saturday she teaches, Sunday she preaches / but the rest of the week, she's mine!"
  • The Happiness Boys' 1928 song "She's The Sweetheart Of Six Other Guys" has a chorus about the clothes that this "flapper" wears on the various days of the week. The singer takes solace in the ostentation of his sweetie - "But those furs and that ring didn't cost me a thing / 'cause she's the sweetheart of six other guys".
  • Shonen Knife's "One Week."
  • "Never on Sunday"
  • The Swedish Gesällvisan ("Journeyman's Song") which describes how said journeyman does absolutely nothing for the entire week.

Went to the movies on a Wednesday

Went to the movies on a Thursday

Went to the movies on a Friday-

Cquote2

  • Although the days are (obviously) listed in another language, the song "weeeek" by the Johnnys Jimusho boyband NEWS definitely qualifies.
  • MONDAY, TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, PARTY!
  • "The Story of my Old Man" by Good Charlotte
  • "Blue Monday", by Fats Domino.
  • The Clash, "Police on My Back"
Cquote1

"Running Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday/What have I done, what have I done?"

  • Mandy Moore's "I Could Break Your Heart Any Day Of The Week". Appropriately.
  • "Days of the Week" by Stone Temple Pilots.

  • Another J-pop example: "Bounce with Me" by DJ OZMA

  • The Bluetones' Solomon Bites The Worm (Solomon being the up top mentioned Solomon Grundy, of course).
  • Robby Roadsteamer's "I've Got Six Days To Cheat", about cheating on a girlfriend six days a week with a different girl each day. It covers every day except Sunday. Although the line for one day strays from that ostensible topic entirely: "Thursday I wash my balls in the sink!".
  • In "Tired of Sex," Weezer mentions a different girl for each day of the week: "Monday night, I'm making Jen. Tuesday night, I'm making Lyn..."
