A situation where taking a bath is risky business and something happens to interrupt the bath, or you die.
The bathtub or shower is a common place for murderers to show up. Bathing is when you're at your most vulnerable; relaxed, alone, naked, possibly with water in your eyes, in a small room that usually has one door and no windows.

Anime and Manga[]
- Dai Kyochuu Rettou, the female characters are taking a shower, but the water attracts giant Hercules beetles and they crash through.
- Detective Conan has many examples of this. One was a victim that was electrified while bathing. Another time an old man was attacked in his bath tub and, being a Badass Grandpa, killed his attacker in self-defense.
- Terraformars, giant humanoid cockroaches get aboard a international vessel to Mars. Their first victim is a Chinese woman who was taking a shower but is ripped in half.
- Later in the series the cockroaches begin kidnapping men and women in Japan. They found it most easy to acquire specimens for their labs when their subjects were taking showers or baths as they were most vulnerable.
- Kirby Right Back At Ya has "Scare Tactics - Part II" where Escargoon takes a shower to remove paint at a seemingly haunted house. He gets beat up by a hammer by King DeeDeeDee who mistakenly thought he was a ghost.
- Almost happened to Lisa Lisa in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Battle Tendency, when her maid Suzie Q was subjected to Demonic Possession by one of the Pillar Men and attacked her when she was bathing.
Live-Action Film[]
- Addams Family Values, Debbie tried to kill Fester doing this with a toaster in a bathtub but he survived.
- Endangered Species (2003), has an alien poacher hunting humans for their pelts. He targets a gym where he slaughters all the patrons. In the shower he comes across a naked woman, and like a deer in the headlights she shoots her. However after examining her body he finds that she had breast implants and thus her pelt was worthless.
- Psycho (1960), the scene her is a classic example of this trope where the killer stabs the victim when she is taking a shower.
Live-Action TV[]
- Supernatural has "Dead in the Water" where a spirits drowns it victims via water. It tries to drown a woman in her bathtub but is saved by the main characters.
