  • Alas, Poor Villain: Booba's death is pretty sad, even though he was quite the bastard beforehand.
  • Complete Monster: Star King Bazoo. Possibly the first one and the prototype for other complete monster Big Bad in the Sentai franchise. Just look at the Bad Boss entry and add the fact that he tricks almost every underling he has into joining him with the promise to spare their planet. He's lying of course, just look at Ahames.
  • Crowning Music of Awesome: Holy cow that theme song is a total Ear Worm.
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: It was a massive hit in late 80s/early 90s Brazil, paving the way for other Super Sentai series and, eventually, anime.
  • Growing the Beard: Changeman represents a dramatic shift in Super Sentai towards complex plotting, fleshed-out villains, and a Darker And Edgier tone. Changeman's head writer Hirohisa Soda (who'd been head writer for the past three years before Changeman) has stated that he considers Changeman to be a Growing The Beard moment (though not in those exact words) both for the Super Sentai franchise and for his skill as a writer.
  • Special Effects Failure: The mooks in the final battle are depicted by downright horrendous chroma keying, even for the era. Not to mention the part where the Change Robo is making its way into the core of Bazoo, represented by superimposing mech footage over stock footage of cells dividing.
  • Tear Jerker: Booba's death in Episode 52, just moments after he restored Shiima to her former self.
