- Complete Monster: Rather unusually, it's not the vampire but her servant Sandor who is the real villain of this film. Countess Zalenska wants to reform and stop sucking blood, but Sandor coldly manipulates her into killing people again and again. He hopes for eternal life as one of the undead, and when the Countess finally rejects him, he kills her.
- Plot Hole: Due to wonky attention to the continuity at the time, Dr. Seward, Mina Harker and Jonathan Harker are completely forgotten, leaving some serious Fridge Logic issues.
