Dub Name Change/Playing With

Basic Trope: In dubs, the character's name is changed.

Straight: A French dub of the show "Alice and Bob" changes Alice's name to Adelaide, Bob's name to Jacques, Charlie's name to Pierre, Dave's name to Abel, Denise's name to Adeline, Deanna's name to Adrienne, Melanie's name to Agathe, Betty's name to Albine, Carol's name to Colette, Jim's name to Alfredo, Candice's name to Coralie, Don's name to Charles and Emporor Evulz's name to Napoleon Mal.

Exaggerated: The show changes the characters' names with English names to French names, and it also changes the characters' names with French names to English names.

Downplayed: The French Alice and Bob show changes Alice's name to Adelaide and Bob's name to Jaques, but the other characters keep their names.

Subverted: On the first episode of the French Alice and Bob, Betty calls Alice Adelaide, but French Alice replies: "Mon nom est Alice."

Double Subverted: But then Betty breaks the fourth wall and says that it is French, and so she is Adelaide now.

Justified: The French version is about some different (very similar) people.

Parodied: In the show Alice and Bob, the characters watch a Show Within A Show, and the characters of that show have proper names like "Annie" and "Joe", but they watch that show in a mythical world and the characters are called something like "Wannohokie" and "Ziggomacha".

Averted: There are no dubbed versions of Alice and Bob or they don't change the names.

Plotted a Good Waste/Deconstrcted: The fans of the original Alice and Bob hate the dubbed versions as the names are different.

Reconstructed: But then they decide to live and let live.

Discussed: "Porquoi mon nom continue a changement dans autre des pays?"

Zigzagged: A few of the characters have their names changed in French, a few don't.

Enforced: All the characters have punny or meaningful names, so they need to change them.

For laughs: The characters have punny names in French.

Lampshaded: "Bonjour, Adelaide"

Conversed: "Hey, why are their names all different in French?

Implied: In French Alice and Bob, Alice signs her name Adelaide LeFous, instead of Alice Jones.

For drama: The characters' French names mean "death" or something dramtic like that.
