A Beat'Em Up Video Game published in early 2002 on the Play Station 2. The main gimmick was the ability to switch weapons mid-combo.
The story concerns a young man named Josh Calloway who's girlfriend Eliel is transformed into a type of weapon known as a "Legacy". As a result he turns on his former employers, the Wisdom Corporation, and goes after his former boss Agla in order to recover a chip which will reverse the process.
EOE Eve of Extinction contains examples of;[]
- Bag of Spilling: Roughly 2/3 of the way through the game, there's a level where a boss steals your weapon chips and hands them out to his Elite Mooks.
- Barehanded Blade Block: Zera performs one in a cutscene. It's the first sign she's not quite human.
- Corrupt Corporate Executive: Agla is a textbook example.
- Death Seeker: Agla has lived for so long that he wants to die, but not without witnessing, or more accurately, causing The End of the World as We Know It. When Josh defeats him, he even says "at least my plan wasn’t a total failure".
- The Dragon: Zera, played with in that Agla wields her rather than just having her fight the player.
- Energy Weapon: All Legacy weapons looked like this.
- Equippable Ally: Eliel and every other Legacy weapon.
- Good Old Fisticuffs: You had the option...
- Heel Face Turn: Raven.
- MacGuffin: The memory chip which will turn Eliel back.
- Mad Scientist/Misanthrope Supreme: Dr. Wiseman qualifies as both.
- Man Behind the Man: Agla's assistant Zera turns out to be the original Legacy weapon.
- Mega Corp: Wisdom, natch.
- Mega Manning: You collect each different weapon mode's chip by taking it from the boss who was carrying it.
- Morph Weapon: The game's main attraction is the ability to switch Eliel's forms between several different weapons mid combo. Each one also had its own elemental powers and special ability.
- Laser Sword/Flaming Sword: It could also shoot fire.
- Simple Staff/Shock and Awe: The Rod. A blue bo-staff sort of thing, which also dealt lightning damage.
- Machete Mayhem/Dual-Wielding/Making a Splash: A pair of Katars which could unleash a blast of water.
- Whip Sword/Time Master: The Snake Sword, which allowed you to freeze time.
- The Archer/Ray Gun/Light the Way: An energy bolt shooting crossbow with healing powers.
- An Axe to Grind/Gravity Master: The Giant Axe.
- BFS/Dishing Out Dirt: The Broad Sword.
- Infinity+1 Sword/Game Breaker: The Twin Blades. A pair of swords which resemble the ones Elite Mooks wield. You only get to use them in a New Game+ though.
- New Game+: That allows you to play with all of the weapons already available, as well as maxing out their stats.
- Omnicidal Maniac: Agla's Evil Plan is to use the power of his and Josh's weapons to destroy the world and himself with it.
- One-Winged Angel: When you defeat him once, Agla merges with Zera, transforming into the Original Legacy.
- Orichalcum: Part of what makes up the Legacy weapons.
- Powered by a Forsaken Child: All Legacy weapons need to have a human soul bound to them.
- Press X to Not Die: The game has cutscenes like this. Failure normally just knocks off a bit of your health bar and in some cases forces you to try again.
- Really Seven Hundred Years Old: Agla.
- Sequel Hook/The Stinger: The game ends with a post-credits cutscene showing Zera walking away from Agla’s corpse.
