A few billion years ago, the Universe was created. Don't ask how, nobody knows, though people tend to agree this was a bad move.

On an insignificant little blue planet in the Milky Way, creatures evolved. First came the bacteria, then came the amphibians, then the reptiles, then the birds, then the mammals and then the Indian narrator who probably got quite a few things wrong in this sentence. But what also evolved were vampires, demons, werewolves, fairies, Gods, etc.

First were the Egyptian Gods, and shortly after them were the Hindu Gods. They got along affably enough, and ruled the Earth together. Then came the Greeks, Aesir, Aztecs, Shinto and Abrahamics, along others. They lived under the rule of the Hindus and Egyptians, who kept the Earth from being destroyed by their constant warring.

Then the True Fae revealed themselves. Nobody was quite sure where they came from- another planet? Another dimension? Another galaxy? But they showed their intents to take over Earth, and Earth allied to defeat them. The Egyptian Gods were completely destroyed in this struggle. After centuries of warfare, the True Fae were chased away.

In the aftermath of the battle, all the Pantheons and supernatural beings were severely weakened. The supernatural council got together, got wasted, debated on whether the rumors of Loki screwing Aphrodite were true, and then they ultimately made the decision to leave Earth, due to the fact they were too weak at the moment, and those dirty hairless apes living there were getting stronger and more advanced every day.

So with some exceptions, supernatural creatures left Earth for the Celestial planes or their own universes. But nowadays the supernatural is wondering why the hell they left, and are considering returning to Earth. And some humans, aware of the supernatural, are also aware that they might want to return. They're also aware some places on Earth are more magical than others.

This is where the title of the rp, Elfen High, comes into play. Somewhere in Britain, there is a highly magical hotspot. A few decades ago, a boarding school was built over it. As a defense, many teachers here aren't what they appear, and are usually trained mages. The school has even become a place where highly intelligent, or students with high magical potential, can be protected.

But magical creatures, though they officially aren't supposed to go to Earth, they often make visits here because they love the sheer magic of it. They often come here, especially now, since the supernatural is really considering taking back what's theirs...

• Absurdly Sharp Blade: Excalibur and it's ilk.
• Abuse Is Okay When Its Female On Male: In Arc 2, Lazrian getting the crap beaten out of him by his wife is Played for Laughs.
• A God Am I: Calliel, Victoria and Desmond all ascend to godhood.
  • Inverted when Lewis uses a sniper rifle during the Siege. He becomes high on power and is convinced he is a god. He's far from it.
• Aleister Crowley
• Anyone Can Die: Firmly cemented with the death of Crowley
• Anything That Moves: Crowley, James Callahan, Nora
• Arab-Israeli Conflict: Basically the description of the conflicts between the angels and demons. Palestine is featured, in the form of Heavengate, an angel-occupied piece of land in Hell.
• Archangel Michael: He appears. Is gay lovers with Gabriel.
  • And now he's dead.
• Archangel Gabriel: He appears. Is gay lovers with Michael, and currently kidnapped and missing.
  • He's been found, he isn't an archangel, and he's a furry.

• Ass Shove: While regaling a fellow demon about his days at boot camp, Laz rather calmly details a story that began with two smart alack recruits, and ended with one of those recruits being, in Laz's words "Violently sodomized" with the others spine.

• Badass Teacher: Crowley, Damien (Post-Arc 1), Timothy (post-Arc 2).
• Battle in the Center of the Mind: James vs Metatron. James wins by destroying the part of his brain involved in motor functions and trapping Metatron. Then James vs Raphael. Raphael wins thanks to sheer power. James still believes he could defeat Raphael in a straight-up fight.
• Barack Obama: Appears briefly in Arc 1.
• Berserk Button: For Christ's sake, DO NOT TOUCH LEWIS'S BANJO!
  • Don't insinuate that Laz has gotten where he is, because of luck. He does NOT take it well.
• Beware the Nice Ones: Timothy Horn, Star Wars nerd and closest to Fun Personified so far, is NOT someone to bully or embarrass, particularly in front of the cute girl he's trying to hook up with. Just ask D.
• Big Bad: Arc 1: Calliel.
  • Arc 2 Morgan Le Fey.
• Big Eater: D. He's pretty much a demonic version of L from Death Note, and has to eat in order to recharge his powers.
  • Lazrian, by virtue of his size, is a big eater as well.
• Big Good: Crowley and Raphael.
  • Which is somewhat disturbing, as they both have Black and Gray Morality. Eventually, Crowley loses all morality.
• Bishounen: Laz's human disguise
• Broken Bird: James Callahan in Arc 2, after 18 years of being disowned by his parents, spat upon by the angels he represents in the UN, verbally abused by extremists both inside and outside the UN, and his advise completely ignore by the last Archangel (and ruler of the remaining Angels in Heavensgate), Raphael. So he left Heavensgate on an extended vacation to the home of the Pixies. Then his husband Malakh became catatonically depressed despite James leaving a note.
• Brought Down to Normal: Malakh briefly in the first arc.
• Cain and Abel: Scott and James. And nobody was surprised.
• Cosmic Retcon: James makes a deal with Death that temporarily eliminates his third death, see below.
• Cosmic Deadline: The end of Arc 2 feels like this.
• Crapsack World: And how!
• Creator Backlash: Nightkill didn't like the end of Arc 2. He also reacted violently to cybersex filling up the first few pages of Arc 3.
• Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Lewis.
  • Lazrian as well, though he manages to be both at the same time.
• David Cameron: Appears briefly in the first arc.
• Darker and Edgier: Nightkill claims Arc 2 will be this. We'll see how it turns out.
• Dark Is Not Evil: D.
  • Timothy's black cape
    • James wore a full-body long-ass cloak that hides his entire body, and when he walks it looks like he's floating.
• Deadpan Snarker: Crowley and Damian.
• Deal with the Devil: A variant, James cuts a deal with Death where he can return to life, on the condition that he not be an idiot, and that 12 years later he will die permanently. James accepts.
• Different As Night and Day: Sarana and Lazaria.
• Driven to Suicide: James in Arc 2.
• Dumb Muscle:
  • Lazrian. Extra emphasis on the dumb part.
  • Lewis is to a certain extent as well, though he is less physically strong as he is skilled with his Weapon of Choice, the cudgel.
• Expy: Calliel IS Castiel. Raphael and Uriel look like their Supernatural counterparts, but have different personalities.
• Extreme Omnivore: Lazrian has eaten everything from regular food, to a yo-yo, his lunch tray, and a fork.
• Eyepatch of Power: Lazrian bears one after losing his right eye during arc 1.
  • So does Calliel.
• Eye Scream: Calliel and Lazrian both lose an eye in Arc 1. Calliel's left eye gets shot and then exploded with an arrow by The Archer, then before he could heal it James Callahan punched the empty socket with a flaming hand, cauterizing it and preventing Calliel from regenerating. Lazrian loses his right eye sometime during the melee in Islamabad. No other details are given.
• Fallen Angel: Many, Lilith, Black and White and Metatron.
  • Calliel briefly.
• Face Heel Turn: Calliel.
• Face Palm: Pretty much anyone's usual reaction when Laz says something stupid.
  • One of these ends up saving lives, when Lazrian saying something stupid elicited a facepalm from James, which broke him out of his terror-induced coma and allowed him to help finish off Arc 2 Big Bad Morgan Le Fay once and for all.
• Fantastic Racism: A lot between humans and supernatural as of the second arc, when they learned of each other's existence. Before that, angels, demons and other supernatural beings looked down on humans, and angels and demons hated each other.
• God Is Evil
• Good Ol' Boy: Lewis, the math teacher in Arc 3, is the stereotypical communist and liberal hating Republican.
• Have You Seen My God?: Yahweh just left a few thousand years ago. Lucifer is also missing.
• Heroic Bastard: Malakh is this, because he is the illegitimate child of Archangel Michael and Angel Gabriel.
• Heroic Sacrifice: Damien Seward.
  • The Archer sacrificed himself during the Siege. This was his second and last death.
• Heroic Willpower: James overcomes the friggin' METATRON this way.
• Hotter and Sexier: Arc 3 starts off with three different sex-related situations. The main one being Nora raping Calliel.
• Ho Yay: James and Malakh.
• Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: Lazrian (9 and half feet tall in his true form) and his wife Sayuri, a succubus.(Tall as an average human)
• Hypocritical Humor: Lewis is often demonstrated to be a complete moron. When he starts gunning people down during the Siege, he screams how much he hates stupid people and takes out his rage on a particularly dumb looking target.
• It Got Worse: The trip to Gods Curse in arc 3. Laz loses a hand, and Crowley is killed.
• Interspecies Romance: James and Malakh, D and Ellen, and the parents of any Demigod.
• Insistent Terminology: It's THE Metatron. Not Metatron, the Metatron.
  • Frequently subverted, however, by both Heroes and Villains who hold Metatron in contempt. Like James.
• Iron Butt Monkey: Laz.
• Loads and Loads of Characters: "When I lose track of characters, it's time to add Loads and Loads of Characters to the TV Tropes page." - Nightkill.
• Jerkass: Crowley, in Arc 3. Damien Seward. Raphael. It's frankly easier to list character who don't fit this definition.
• Jumped At the Call: Most human characters who are aware of their powers, but exemplified by Timothy Horn in Arc 2.
• Killed Off for Real: Azazel, Uriel, and the Angel Jeremiah. Also essentially Michael and Gabriel, although they were reincarnated. Human characters (unless they've died before, like Damien) get one extra life in Hell, but can't return to Earth unless they possess a body.
  • Damien Seward, in one of the best scenes in the entire RP.
    • The Archer in Arc 3
• No Ending: Was shut down during arc 3, with no definite conclusion.
• Oh Crap: Laz's reaction when his extremely angry wife shows up at his door to kick his ass.
  • The reaction of absolutely everybody when Big Bad Morgan Le Fey reveals she's a True Fae. Taken to extreme levels with practically all of the humans save Timothy due to being in a coma freeze in absolute instinctive TERROR.
• Out of Focus: Most characters in the first arc. The second arc is much better on this.
• Our Angels Are Different: For one, they tend to be dicks, and Heaven is an oppressive theocracy ruled by Uriel.
  • They're huge dicks.
  • And endangered. There's only 220 million of them left after Heaven was destroyed by a black hole.
• Our Demons Are Different
• Our Vampires Are Different: They are very, very difficult to kill for a start.
• Reincarnation: After dying in arc 1 Michael and Gabriel were reincarnated... As Chinese lesbians named Yoko and Uni.
• Magick
• Magitech: Timothy Horn's lightsabers are a combination of magic and technology.
• Mood Whiplash: Both in-story and outside it: James Callahan has just been resurrected by Malakh, KO'd Uriel and Azazel with a single stream of fire each, and given both (though mainly Uriel) a massive "The Reason You Suck" Speech. He then turns to his boyfriend Malakh and tells him they can leave. Malakh then reveals that he can't, he lost all his powers resurrecting James.
  • Player Hardened Pyrokinetics pulled this one when juggling cheerful, optimistic, happy Timothy and depressed, suicidal, jaded James, culminating in James shooting himself in the face with Damien's gun while at the same time Timothy started his relationship with Anna. And then Crowley, Damien, and another character chat over James' corpse, and Dr. Herbert West uses necromancy to revive James' body, but as a dog.
• Not So Different: Through out the third arc, Timothy called Crowley an amoral dick which he had become since Damien's death and botched resurrection. During the Siege, Timothy started a fight with Laz. This lead to a nice little moment when Crowley got to laugh a bit and call Timothy out on his hypocrisy.
• Single-Stroke Battle: James vs Uriel/James vs Azazel. Yes, in the exact same fight.
  • They were more surprised that a mere monkey would stand up to them.
• Surprisingly-Sudden Death: Crowley, a true Asshole Victim.
• The Siege: At the beginning of Arc 3, Pure Earth, a bunch of supernatural-hating extremists, manipulate James through his brother. His brother, Scott, ends up being one of them and they invade the school.
• To Hell and Back: Damien, James, Calliel and Malakh do this in the first arc. In the second arc, humans have built colonies in Hell.
  • In Arc 3, the group travels to "Zeus's backside", a region more dangerous than all of regular Hell, to save Raphael.
• Took a Level In Badass: Lewis is useless...until he gets a sniper rifle.
• Took a Level In Jerkass: Crowley. Courtesy of losing his emotions trying to bring back Damien.
• The Archer: A character aptly named The Archer.
  • He dies.
    • He's still alive. In Hell.
      • He dies again in the 3rd Arc, during the siege of Elfen High.
• The Devil: Currently MIA, and Azazel rules in his absence.
  • Following Azazel being Killed Off for Real, Hell is now segmented into various warlord lands and Heavensgate.
• The Fun in Funeral: Crowley and Laz make Damien's funeral a funny affair, with Crowley getting trashed, and saying he was a good lap dancer, and Laz taking an example from hip hop videos, and pouring something on the ground in remembrance.
  • James Callahan was not amused.
• The Nicknamer: Lazrian, being too dumb to remember anyone's name, usually refers to them by whatever he first notices about them. Damien seems to the exception for some reason.
  • Seems to have been dropped as of arc 3, as he calls people by their proper names.
• The Nose Knows: One of Laz's less used powers, is his superb sense of smell.
• Time Skip: Each new Arc has one.
  • Arc 2-18 years after Arc 1 (With a three month skip inside of it)
  • Arc 3-12 years after Arc 2 (With a one month skip inside it)
• "The Reason You Suck" Speech: James Callahan delivers one to the archangel Uriel, the second most powerful of all the archangels and theocratic dictator of Heaven.
• The Verse: Nightkills Shit.
• Too Dumb to Live: James, it isn't really a good idea to piss off every angel, archangel, demon, and other mythological being you run int-Did you just beat the tar out of Metatron and give Uriel a verbal dressing down and get away with it!?
• Trapped in the Past: During the vampire attack in arc 2, Elfen High and everyone in it were transported back to a Schizo-Tech version of Camelot, circa 1386.
• Troll: D, towards Timothy and Anna's relationship. Every chance he gets, he finds some way to interfere with them. He really doesn't notice though, Timothy is just uptight and what not.
• What the Hell, Hero?: Malakh finally calls James out on his Jerkass qualities in Arc 2.
  • In the 3rd Arc, Timothy uses Laz as a weapon to kill a surrendering enemy. This incited one from Crowley, Laz, and everyone in the OOC.
• Unexplained Recovery:
  • James in Arc 1 got killed-killed by Uriel. Malakh brought him back to life at the cost of his own powers, and also gave James the boost necessary to kick both Uriel and Azazel's asses with one hit.
  • Pulled it YET AGAIN in Arc 2, where after suiciding with Damien's gun and ending up in Hell, he tripped and smashed in his rib cage on a rock, sending two ribs into his lungs and puncturing them. Then his husband Malakh found him and stupidly rolled him onto his back and hugged him, slicing up his lungs and then sending one of the ribs straight into his heart. Despite all that, he managed to come back (albeit as a "Dead Human" and thus having to rely on other people as vessels) thanks to a fragment of Metatron siphoning off energy from Malakh and slowly, over several months, healed him, find Malakh, and merge with him. Then he found his own, zombified, cat-minded body.
  • After leaving his body to combat Metatron inside the mind of a female student who turned out to be working with the bad guys all along, James loses the fragment of Metatron that, it turned out, was keeping him alive. His soul disintegrated en-route to James' body, with no time for him to possess Malakh or anyone else. He made a deal with Death to come back.]]
• Ugly Guy, Hot Wife: Lazrian. Sayuri. Any questions?
• Vampire Hunter: Damien
• Weirdness Magnet: Laz calls the school this, citing several examples of the oddness he and the others have experienced while going there.
  • This ends up inspiring Timothy Horn to create a School Guard comprised of volunteer students and teachers.
• Why Won't You Die?: James. Honestly, HE MUST DIE. At least, he'd better. And Timothy too. Lucky sons of bitches. But I digress...
• Willfully Weak: Laz makes sure to tell Timothy that he was holding back during their fight.
