Emiko "Emi" Shinohara (August 8, 1963-September 8, 2024) was a veteran seiyu who is most celebrated as Makoto Kino of Sailor Moon. She was usually typecasted as Action Girl in her early years, but later diverged to Hot Moms, Yamato Nadeshiko, and even Ax Crazy women like Ophelia in Claymore. She was married to Hiroshi Watari, a Tokusatsu actor, and also voiced roles in that genre. Her blood type, like Mako's, was O, and she also had the same birth date as her Sailor Moon co-star Rica Fukami. She was also a singer and recording artist, releasing four albums during the 1990s at the peak of her voice-acting career.
Sadly, Shinohara passed away on September 8, 2024, just a month after her 61st birthday. She had reportedly been in poor health for some time, though the nature of her illness was not specified.
