  • Nightmare Fuel: Some consider Gunpei's close-up shot as one.
    • You think that's scary?! Try THIS one!
    • One that actually gives you goosebumps: Anyone "photographed" by Camera Banki gets sent to the Junk World, where Uguts await in a secret facility to turn them into more Uguts.
    • Faceless Suto siblings. That's all.
  • Americans Hate Tingle: Some Western Toku fans hate Go-onger for its absurd wackiness and over-the-top slapstick comedy and prefer the Darker and Edgier adaptation that is Power Rangers RPM.
  • Awesome Music: A lot of tracks. Go-onger has a really nice soundtrack in general, but to specify:
  • Big Lipped Alligator Moment: G5 Prince (see Girl Group on the main page for an explanation).
  • Ear Worm: Once you hear the intro, you will never get it out of your heads. Ever.
  • Evil Is Sexy: Kegalesia. PERIOD: Deadly sexy? Check. Stripperific costume? Check. Dominatrix whip? Oh hell, check. The fact that her actress is a former AV[3] star? Check, check, and CHECK.
  • Fan Nickname: "Forehead" for Gunpei; for his enormous plateau and a close-up shot of his face in the ending sequence.
    • "Piper" for Kegalesia. Because her pipe costume, and her actress' former AV career.
    • "Chicken Hopper" for Hiroto, whose actor played "Kamen Rider Kick Hopper" in Kamen Rider Kabuto; and because he pilots Toripter, a chicken mecha.
  • Fridge Brilliance: Why are the revived Banki from The Movie weaker than they originally were? Because they thrive on pollution, and they were recycled.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • From GP 37, Engine Banki is intended to be a Take That on Transformers (it even goes "Toratora"! and "Toransfoomu!"), but crosses into this trope instead as its design and color scheme resemble Skids and Mudflap in their ice cream truck form.
    • A particular Rule 34 fanart of Speedor and BearRV became all the funnier when Engine Machalcon turned out to be their son.
    • "Smile, smile" would be used as the Catchphrase of a Martian botanist who transforms into an Ultraman that resembles Tiga. And the real kicker, Rina Aizawa, Saki's actress, guest stars in the 9th episode as Yuna Shizuma's mother.
    • Hiroto and Miu would be the first Brother-Sister Team in Tokusatsu history, and by extension Super Sentai. It's sister series, Kamen Rider would have another brother-sister team in the form of Ryoga Shindai/Kamen Rider Durendal and Reika Shindai/Kamen Rider Sabela. The real kicker? The younger sister (Miu) is portrayed by an actress named Yumi Sugimoto, whereas Angela Mei's (Reika's actress) birth name is Yumi Yamamoto.
  • Ho Yay: Hant and Gunpei.
    • Saki's interactions with Miu are taken as Les Yay by some.
  • Moe: Saki
  • MST3K Mantra: Very much applies here, due to the frequent breaks from reality within the show.
  • Ships That Pass in the Night: Shippers in the fandom seem to like pairing Hiroto and Saki even though the two rarely talk to each other.
  • Tastes Like Diabetes: Anytime Saki tries to cheer up someone. She really does mean well, but with her face, voice and puppy eyes combined...
  • Tear Jerker: Admit it. You cried when Sōsuke was turned into a bronze statue at the end of GP 35.
  • Villain Decay: As the series went on, the Gaiark Ministers are shown to be quite an odd bunch of fellows themselves, rather than the initial impression of "Evil Invaders from Another Dimension".
    • Happens very quickly with the Drill Banki from the Dino Engines' debut arc. He starts out capable of curbstomping all the Rangers, then promptly gets bitchslapped by the Dino Engines - by the next episode, one Ranger is enough to hold him off. And then the Dino train runs him over.
    • Hiramechimedes, first mentioned by Yogostein as Gaiark's sharpest mind, started as a genuinely threatening villain; he has a mecha more powerful then the Go-ongers' at that time, he has excellent predictivity, and the core five Engines are scared witless just by hearing his name because of the experience from prior encounters. The only threat to him was the Go-on Wings. But... his losing streak began really quickly after his appearance, starting with a small tactic of teamwork from Go-ongers, and it just went on all the way, even beyond the grave.
  1. Different from the grandly Hot-Blooded ones by Akira Kushida, the veteran for songs like this.
  2. ...Or "Take off, fly to the sky".
  3. Adult Video
