FateFoxtail Image

A new legend begins now.

Fate: Extra CCC Foxtail is a manga adaptation of Fate:Extra CCC by Takenoko Seijin, based loosely on Caster's route and various scrapped concepts that didn't make it into the game.

Hakuno Kishinami and his servant Caster are one of the Master-Servant participant of the Moon Cell Holy Grail War. However, they and the other participant were taken to the Far Side of the Moon by the rogue and mysterious A.I. BB.

Be warned: The manga contains some spoilers from the game (both the original Fate:Extra CCC and its collaboration with Fate:Grand Order Abyssal Cyber Paradise SE.RA.PH) and a lot of plot twists, so read at your own risk!

Tropes found in this adaptation[]

  • Arc Fatigue: Breaking through the wall between the 9th and 10th floor of the Sakura Labyringth took much longer time than original game. This is justified in the story as Kazuradrop didn't have any Sentinel other than Suzuka to stall the protagonists while she was busy trying to obtain the Holy Grail.
  • Barbie Doll Anatomy: As seen during the Hot Spring Episode, the female characters have no visible nipple. However, like in the game, the males have them.
  • Combination Attack: Passionlip and Meltlilith can combine their power and use "Virgin Laser Palladion", a powerful attack that is capable of breaking the most powerful defense with a few exceptions. However, with the two of them being greatly weakened, the attack is incomplete and is unable to break through Gawain's Numeral of Saint, leading to their defeat.
  • Death by Adaptation: Many important characters from Fate:Extra CCC (Gatou Monji, Kirei Kotomine, Andersen, and Kiara Sessouin) were killed off early in the plot to signal the reader that this story will not be the same as the game.
  • Demoted to Extra: Passionlip and Meltlilith, the two prominent Alter Egos from the game, were weakened and sent out early in the manga to battle the Student Council Team by BB. Due to them being unable to access their Game Breaker abilities, they quickly fell to the combination of Gawain and Karna's attacks. This is actually a part of the plan by Kazuradrop to absorb their ability and become the perfect A.I
  • Downer Ending: Suzuka Gozen's true legend: she did not live happily ever after with Tamuramaro.
  • Foreshadowing: The place where Goth BB uses to trap Hakuno in is called "Bug Space" instead of "Dog Space".
    • Prior to the Holy Grail War, Kazuhito mentioned that there are many legends of Suzuka Gozen, each  differs in the fate of her and Sakanoue Tamuramaro, and asked her which one is hers. It's the Downer Ending one.
  • Hunter of His Own Kind: Kazuradrop's Insect Eater ability allows her to consume and steal the ability of the Sakura-type A.I., including the original Nurse Sakura.
  • In-Series Nickname: Passionlip and Meltlilith are referred as "Lip" and "Melt" as usual, though Kazuradrop prefers to call the latter Lilith/Ryllis. Meanwhile, Kingprotea is referred as "Protea", and Suzuka calls Violet "Vio".
  • Meaningful Name: Kazu's full name, Sakagami Kazuhito, is phoenetically similar to the name of Suzuka's former lover Sakanoue Tamuramaro
  • Not His Sled: Like in the game, unlocking the Sakura Route begins with Hakuno buying the school uniform for her (in which Taiga, the current shopkeeper, gleefully agree to cut the price to a reasonable amount in contrast to the sadistic Kirei). However, the game's true Big Bad, Kiara Sessouin was killed by Suzuka and her master very early in the story, and the later chapters reveal that :Nurse Sakura who has been in the party from the start is actually Kazuradrop masquerading as her.
  • Replacement Goldfish: Kazu believes that Suzuka is treating him as a replacement for her previous boyfriend, Sakanoue Tamuramaru, something that he is understandably not happy with.
  • Stepford Smiler:
    • As much as an upbeat devoted housewife and foxy miko she is, Caster never truly got over her tragic past of slaughtering many people during the Toba period after being branded a demon due to her ears and tail.
    • Later chapters and the collab begin to hint that Suzuka is actually one as well beneath her JK persona, from her unnaturally solemn expression when first summoned by Kazuhito, the hints that she still holds some affection for her former love Tamuramaro despite claiming that a new life means new boyfriend, and her legend as told in collab greatly differs from what she told the group in the Hot Spring Episode, namely she and Tamuramaro never truly got their Happy Ever After.
  • Stripperiffic
    • Both Leo and Gawain are notably shocked by Passionlip's Absolute Cleavage and Meltlilith's Thong of Shielding (although both of them, especially Leo, tried to avoid mentioning the latter).
    • Violet's outfit may seems decent apart from showing a rather generous amount of cleavage.. until you notice's the backside.
    • The real BB shows up with only her hair ribbon and cloak.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Of the possibly "death happened later" variety: Leo and Gawain were originally offed in the game by BB in the middle of the story to show the group how powerful she is. Here, the two (with the help of Shinji and Violet) managed to hold back and dealt considerable blow against her, partly due to the fact that this BB is a copy created by Kazuradrop with only 5/8 of her original power.
  • Reality Ensues: Though Kazuradrop's ability to take over all the skills from her kind is indeed powerful, she lacks in sufficient parameters and resource to utilize them properly, as shown when she has significantly more difficult time to crash Kingprotea into a cube more than Passionlip would normally do with her higher base strength.
  • Red Herring: An interesting variation concerning the body part motif of the Sakura Five. Both Kingprotea, Violet, and Kazuradrop are misleaded by the author to represent Lips/Back, Eyes/Lips, and Eyes respectively, but careful observation show that of all the three, only Violet's Sexy Backless Outfit qualifies her in the Back department. Meanwhile, Kingprotea's prominent body part is her eyes, specifically her heterochomia eyes, and Kazuradrop's is lips to go with her Pitcher Plant motif and her role as "bugs cleaner".
