In addition to keeping the original Ho Yay/Les Yay from Three Houses, Three Hopes adds even more. Divided by which routes the interactions are viewable on due to the different recruitment system.
All Routes[]
- During Petra and Dorothea's support, Petra beats the stuffing out of some bandits who tried to hurt/capture Dorothea. She then tells Dorothea how precious she is to her.
- Ignatz actually becomes a knight in this game, in Lorenz's service. The two grow closer, with Ignatz being devoted to Lorenz despite not truly being happy as a knight, while Lorenz actually tells him he doesn't have to be so stiff and formal despite their stations.
- Ashe/Yuri. Fans were shipping them already, but they had no interaction to go off of beyond a battle conversation in Verdant Wind/Silver Snow and minimal words exchanged in Cindered Shadows. Here? Ashe is hellbent on protecting Yuri no matter what. He disapproves of the other's underhanded methods and dirty tactics, but he'll fire an arrow at anyone who tries to harm Yuri. Yuri, for his part, gets huffy about it, but ends up admitting he's fallen for Ashe's earnestness and his "cornball line" about protecting his friend.
- Raphael and Ashe. Ashe teaches Raphael how to cook, and Raphael ends up perfectly recreating a dish Ashe's father used to excel at. Ashe is so touched he ends up crying!
- If the player chose the same gender for Shez and Byleth, their rivalry doubles as Foe Yay.
- Constance and Hapi's Romantic Two-Girl Friendship goes off the charts. Constance can't address Hapi without calling her "dear", and their A support has them talking about how they've always been together and Constance flustering as she admits how much the other means to her. The support ends with her blushing.
Scarlet Blaze[]
- One name: Monica von Ochs. You meet the real one, and almost immediately you're given the tidbit that she and Edelgard know each other quite well, plus Monica blushing when Edelgard compliments her. Then after the timeskip, Monica all but states that she's in love with her!
- As if that wasn't enough, she idolizes Dorothea, whom she calls "Lady". If Monica is not 100% lesbian, she certainly leans towards women. Her only male support conversations are with male Shez and Hubert, and she spends all that time talking about Edelgard.
- Ferdinand and Hubert seem to share a much closer relationship than in Three Houses, with them sharing several scenes together discussing matters of the Empire and Ferdinand's wayward father. When it comes time to deal with Duke Aegir, they get a cutscene of Hubert blasting the man's bodyguards to clear the way for Ferdinand to kill him.
- Lorenz/Ferdinand, if Lorenz is recruited. Ferdinand is overjoyed when Lorenz joins the Black Eagles, and their paralogue opens with the two fawning like crazy over each other. Sadly, they can't actually support in this game.
- While Catherine isn't playable in this route, she shows up during chapter 9 as a boss alongside Shamir. The way to recruit the latter is to defeat the former and spare her life, and all throughout the pair can't stop bickering like an old married couple.
Azure Gleam[]
- Sylvain and Yuri. It turns out Yuri was the "daughter" of Lord Gwendal whom Sylvain hit on in the past, mistaking him for a girl. But when Yuri teasingly suggests they go on a date, does Sylvain back off yelling "no homo, bro"? Nope, he admits he's into it.
- Dimitri and Felix had a complicated relationship in Three Houses that strongly implied Felix had feelings for him. Here, Felix is by Dimitri's side almost immediately once the latter is crowned King and shows utmost devotion to him afterwards. Even when Felix yells at Dimitri for offering himself as a prisoner in exchange for their people's safety, it's more clearly Anger Born of Worry rather than Felix being angry, period.
- Dedue and Dimitri's supports reveal that the latter used to ask the former to come to his room after he had nightmares. Dedue would then sit by Dimitri's side listening to him ramble himself to sleep.
- Felix and Dedue can even give off these vibes if you squint. They get along much better than in Three Houses, for starters, and have a great deal of respect for one another despite Felix still being a bit of a Tsundere.
- Ashe remains ever enamored of Dedue, even going so far as to sing his praises during his support with Felix. Additionally, Dedue is quite openly concerned about Ashe during the chapter 5 exploration due to the mission revolving around Lonato's rebellion, and in chapter 7 Ashe is concerned for Dedue when he and Rodrigue are in a bind at Fhirdiad trying to keep Cornelia from killing the civilians Dimitri is trying to protect.
- The Catherine/Shamir subtext is through the roof due to Catherine being playable on this route. Their single support conversation is heartfelt and meaningful, and their dialogue during the paralogue "Evil's Bane and Love's Protection" reinforces their "practically married" vibes.
- Annette, Mercedes, and Constance's paralogue is full of OT3 Les Yay vibes.
- Annette is seen practically fangirling Constance in their first support, gushing over the legends of her time at the School of Sorcery.
- Mercedes and Annette. Even with only one support conversation, they share memories and plans for the future and promise to always be there for each other.
- Sylvain and Felix's supports have the former chastising the latter for throwing hands with one of the soldiers. The A rank reveals that Felix was actually defending Sylvain from insults and slander. He ends up blushing when they talk about it.
- Ashe and Yuri's route-exclusive shared paralogue is called "Love and Hate in Wartime." It focuses on Yuri, with the help of Catherine and Shez, rescuing Ashe when he's attacked by remnants of House Gaspard who blame him for Lonato's death. When said remnants verbally harass Ashe and nearly break his morale, Yuri immediately schools them.
Golden Wildfire[]
- Hilda/Marianne remains just as close a relationship, but this time Hilda outright tells Marianne that she's her emotional support. For someone like Marianne, who hates herself and thinks she's a burden, hearing something like that means a lot.
- Hilda and Leonie. Hilda invites Leonie back to her tent to sample some essential oils, leading Leonie to remark on how good Hilda smells. Later, Hilda creates a scent solely based on what she thinks Leonie would like, followed by the idea of them wearing mingling scents. Leonie is seemingly weirded out by it, but not entirely adverse. The tone is rather suggestive overall.
- Claude and Lorenz's A support ends with a CG of them shaking hands as they vow to support each other and protect Leicester. Their vibe during the route also comes off as borderline romantic, with Lorenz acting as Claude's other Lancer besides Hilda.
- Holst and Balthus have many moments of acting like an old married couple, and at the end of their shared paralogue Holst is not okay with finding out Balthus's stepmother is constantly sending assassins after him. He's more than ready to give the lady a chewing out for it, only for Balthus to tell him to let it go.
- Holst and Nader are quite fascinated with each other on the battlefield, and have been meeting for drinks long before Nader turns his coat to help Claude during the second battle with Shahid.
