Fridge Horror[]
- Small Worlds starts each world zoomed into a closeup of the main character, then zooms out as you explore more. Even what's on the screen is blacked out until you pass through it, "illuminating" its secrets. And every level has innocent-sounding music, and initially pretty visuals, but a gradually revealed secret that makes your stomach lurch when you find it. For instance, one world has snow in the upper areas, with the lower areas being some sort of building. Then you find The Big Board, the graves, then the missile silos, some of which have been fired, and you realize you're looking at nuclear winter.
