All of Full Moon o Sagashite, from start to finish.
- Specific moments occur in episode 42, where, after becoming an Idol Singer, overcoming hardships and traveling to America to find him, Mitsuki finds that her childhood friend Eichi died a year and a half ago. This is either better or worse in the manga, in which Eichi died in a plane crash and Mitsuki knew from the very beginning that he was dead, but was in serious denial and became Full Moon to find him anyway.
- Then, of course, there's the last episode, where This Troper cried in despair for the first half and in happiness for the second.
- Izumi's backstory in the manga where we find out that he killed himself when he was six standing in a railroad crossing, because he felt that his mother didn't want him. It turns out that his mother let him go because she felt like she wasn't able to love him.
- Meroko's manga backstory, holy crap. In pre-World War II Japan, she and her Ill Girl best friend were in a Love Triangle for a musician that Meroko (then, Moe) was supposed to marry and said friend had an unwanted jerk of a fiancé. Their families decides to "switch couples" and have Moe marry the jerk, while her friend would marry the musician. The jerk tries to rape Moe and she fights him off, then she sees the other two kissing and she splinters under the belief that they had betrayed her, and went the Driven to Suicide way... Only that her friend did NOT betray her at all - she rejected the boy for Moe's sake even when he liked HER, and the liplock they shared was supposed to be their Last Kiss. Even worse... The friend? She was Fuzuki. As in Mitsuki's grandmother Fuzuki. And this horrible mess is the reason why she hates music so much. Holy shit.
