  • Crowning Moment of Heartwarming: After returning from a trip to see his parents, Satchel is upset that his father is a rescue dog and that he himself has no accomplishments to be proud of. Rob's response? "You make my life happy, dude. That's huge to me."
    • Bucky fixing Satchel's watch.
    • "Welcum home blood doners. Have uh cooki."
      • For those who haven't seen it, Bucky sets up the mini-party after Rob and Satchel give blood after 9/11.
    • There was a strip where Rob and Satchel were looking at some old photos from when Bucky was just a kitten; he's downright adorable and terrified of the big scary world around him. This moment is then subverted with Rob's comment: "He used to be so cute... what the [expletive] happened?"
    • Bucky giving Satchel a genuine hug after receiving Satchel's gift of Ben and Jerry's Chunky Monkey ice cream. Bucky thought it contained real monkey, and was very moved by it.
  • Dude, Not Funny: The joke about Pittsburgh didn't really sit well with the residents of Pittsburgh.
  • Ensemble Darkhorse: Mac Manc Mcmanx is a pretty darn cool and funny character. He speaks in all sorts of brit lingo and apparently squats in Rob's house.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Bucky doctored one of Satchel's Where's Waldo books by changing it to Where's Osama?. At the end, a bunch of American troops find him, and presumably kill him, prompting Rob to say "you can't sell this to kids". In 2011...
  • Misaimed Fandom: PETA fans don't seem to realize that the strip doesn't exactly cheer for the organization.
  • Recycled Script: Used as much as you would expect a newspaper strip to, and also in a somewhat strange week where Darby is shown to both be late with his latest strips and to have been accidentally sent unpublished strips of Pearls Before Swine. The rest of the week is these strips with Satchel and Bucky pasted over the characters, as well as Stephan Pastis calling Darby to complain about the situation.
  • The Woobie: Satchel, who is almost always being abused by Bucky, both verbally and physically.
    • Also Bucky's cousin Mac Manc Mcmanx counts. His girlfriend got in a huge fight with him, he got a teacup/plate embedded in his skull, he was detained by airport security and mistaken as a terrorist, no one can understand his dialect except Bucky and above all, he's an Ugly Cute. Awww......someone give him a hug already!
