GrooveLily is an American musical trio based in New York City notable for creative songwriting in different pop genres, such as rock, folk, jazz, and show tunes.
The band consists of the wife-and-husband team of Valerie Vigoda (vocals, violin) and Brendan Milburn (vocals and keyboards) along with Gene Lewin (vocals and drums). It was founded by Vigoda in 1994; amusingly, a report in the New York Times in 2004 described the group as an "up and coming trio".
In addition to their CDs of original songs and concert performances of same, GrooveLily has also been known to score theatrical productions. Included in their portfolio are a 2006 production of A Midsummer Night's Dream and the 2008 Disney Wonder cruise ship production of Toy Story: The Musical. Since 2002 (and opening Off-Broadway in 2006), GrooveLily has performed a holiday musical entitled Striking 12.
After years of very few GroveLily performances, the band came together to write and perform a musical called "Wheelhouse" about their earlier touring career on the road in a Winnebago and why they basically stopped touring because of that experience.
