Here we're going to list the Guilty Gear characters who appeared in other media. (Novels, spinoffs, etc.)
Captain Ersatz, Expy, "No Celebrities Were Harmed", Mythology Gags, Continuity Nods and Shout-Out references go here.
Guilty Gear Isuka[]
A.B.A.[]
Voiced by: Mika Takimoto |
A homunculus created by the owner of a mansion called Frasco. The scientist was taken away by the government moments before her birth. She finds a sentient key called Flament Nagel and renames it Paracelsus. She decides to give it an artificial body like hers. |
- Artificial Human: Well, she is a Homunculus.
- Badass
- Bandage Babe
- Bloody Murder: Actually a part of her gameplay. She uses blood packs to make Paracelsus's attacks more powerful.
- Canon Immigrant: First appeared in Isuka, then got ported to Slash with upgraded gameplay, and finally given her own story in Accent Core + .
- Cargo Ship: In-universe, with Paracelsus. It's canon from A.B.A.'s side and win quotes from I-No suggest that she even masturbates with Paracelsus (or at least tries to, anyway).
- Fingerless Gloves
- Goth: Appears to be the gloomy type.
- Glacier Waif
- Improbable Weapon User: Uses a key. With blade-like properties.
- Lightning Bruiser
- Our Homunculi Are Different
Leopaldon[]
The boss of Isuka. A large Gear controlled by a small man and his dog. |
- Gentle Giant: Said to be a kind hearted old man who simply happened to find a long-dead gear and decided to have a little fun with it.
- Giant Space Flea From Nowhere: So far, barely anything is known about the man, the Gear, or the dog. Yet, they were the final boss on their debut game.
- Monster Suit
- SNK Boss: Has several high-priority moves.
- For Massive Damage and Nigh Invulnerable: His only vulnerable spot is his head. You cannot damage him anywhere else.
Team Zako[]
A group of thieves who appear in Isuka. |
Guilty Gear Petit[]
Fanny[]
The under-loved character who only appeared in Guilty Gear Petite 1 and 2, Fanny is a slightly airheaded weirdo who is trying her best to find Dr. Baldhead since she's a big fan of him. She's a nurse with a huge syringe, and a medical kit of oversized weapons. She's cute, she's rare-to-find, she's... never mentioned. |
- Badass Lolita: A nurse who attacks you with a syringe and medical tools. Basically, Faust if he was a ditzy loli.
- Battleaxe Nurse: A subversion in that she's actually quite cute, but has hints of being sadistic.
- Nurse with Good Intentions: She is a student of nursing school, but her violent behavior may hint that she's... not ideal.
- Palette Swap: She has a lot of moves like Faust, though it doesn't explain how she can do Neck Periscope without Faust's occultist powers.
Guilty Gear Judgment[]
Judgment[]
Voiced by: Takayuki Ideriha |
The titular antagonist of Guilty Gear Judgment. Once a scientist named Raymond, he experiments on the people of Villtania to create a weapon stronger than the Gears. He eventually does this to himself by consuming the powers of Inus, the ruler of the Underworld, but much like a certain SNK Boss, gets consumed by his power and dies. |
- A God Am I: Actually refers to himself as God against several of the characters, most specifically Ky and Potemkin.
- Karmic Death: He dies because the king of the Underworld wished to remain dead, and this causes Raymond to melt away.
- That, and his soul technically jumped into a dead body, which is something Eddie actually mocks him for.
- Mad Scientist
- One-Winged Angel
Guilty Gear: Dust Strikers[]
Gig[]
The boss of Dust Strikers. |
Novels[]
Marina[]
A crippled girl whom Ky befriended in the Lightning The Argent novel. She is saved by Ky and is currently under the protection of the IPF. |
- Damsel in Distress: She gets rescued by Ky from punks who were harassing her.
- Friend to All Children: She tutors children.
- Ill Girl: Is wheelchair-bound.
- Subverted when she gets cured when she accidentally drank the Vitae, causing her to have Gear cells, and causing her legs turn into hydra-like Gears.
- Double Subverted because after that, she's in a wheelchair again.
- Long Lost Sisters: Solaria and her
- Parental Abandonment
- Protectorate
Solaria[]
She is an experiment by the Blackard Corporation to create a command-type Gear. Solaria is saved by Ky and put into the custody of the IPF. She comes from the light-novel Lightning the Argent. |
- Long Lost Sisters: Marina and Her
- One-Woman Wail: We never hear it, but is described at the novel.
- Person of Mass Destruction: The song mentioned above caused a lot of deaths in their village. Her song awakens the Gear cells from the Blackard medicine which people drank. Their body parts mutate into Gears and EATS THEM.
- Parental Abandonment
- Pointy Ears
- Protectorate
Erica Batholomew[]
The 17-year-old President of "A Country", formerly the USA. She's few more than a pawn for the Assassins's Guild, and she knows it clearly: refusing to just take it, Erica decides to have an alliance with Zepp and becomes the target of the guild, which leads Chipp Zanuff to her. She comes from the novel "The Butterfly and her Gale". |
- Badass Damsel In Distress: The reason why she's in trouble is because she wants to do what she thinks is the right thing.
- Bodyguard Crush: She and Chipp.
- Brainy Brunette: Is rather smart and has light brown hair.
- We Have Your Adoptive Mother and Orphan's Ordeal: Erica was raised in an Orphanage of Love, and at some point the director of said place is kidnapped in an attempt to blackmail her into cutting ties with Zepp.
- Meganekko: A cute-looking young lady, with glasses to match.
- Plucky Girl
- Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right: When the kid has enough of being a pawn, she tries this.
- Rebellious Princess: She wants to be a Reasonable Authority Figure and not just the pawn of the Guild. In STRIVE, she's one of the aidés to Presiden tColin Vernon - meaning, she got what she wanted.
President Gabriel[]
Former Rebel Leader from Zepp, now the President of the country. Potemkin's superior, on whose orders he entered the first Sacred Tournament. |
- Mission Control: Potemkin's.
- Reasonable Authority Figure
- Rebel Leader
- Sharp-Dressed Man
- Shell-Shocked Veteran
- Taking the Bullet: What Potemkin does for him, in XX Accent Core Plus.
Guilty Gear Xrd[]
Ramlethal Valentine[]
A young woman who shows up at the start of the Xrd games and declares war on the whole world, under the orders of her mother and creator The Universal Will. As one of the Valentines she's at first an unplayable boss, but becomes playable following her capture by Sol and becoming friends with his disciple Sin.
Her familiar and "living weapon" is Lucifero. Yep, the one seen first with Valentine in Overture.
Elphelt Valentine[]
Ramlethal's younger sister and another Valentine, she's reluctant to follow the Universal Will's lead because she really, REALLY wants to live a normal life and get a husband. She arrives to retrieve Ramlethal, but soon joins her and Sin. . .
Jack O' Valentine[]
Another of the Valentines, Jack O' can swing between being extremely serious and booksmart and then switch to a bonafide Genki Girl. After her awakening she sneaks out to the outside world, and when the cast find her. . .
Leo Whitefang[]
One of the Three Kings of Illyria, alongside Daryl and Ky Kiske: he rules over part of Europe, Australia, and the Middle East. A proud warrior who has been Ky's friend and rival ever since they were young.
Daryl[]
The third King of Illyria, whose domains include Eastern Europe and a good part of Asia. Unlike Leo and Ky, he's a Non-Action Guy and extremely pragmatic.
Bedman[]
A mysterious young man who works for Pope Ariels, riding on a sort-of living mechanical hospital bed and being more often than not asleep on it. When he opens his eyes he reveals himself as a dangerously smart man prone to Up to Eleven Sesquipedalian Loquaciousness and near absolute ruthlessness, who dreams of building something he calls an Absolute World.
The Pope aka Ariels[]
Guilty Gear STRIVE[]
Happy Chaos[]
Nagoriyuki[]
Giovanna[]
Goldilocks Dickinson[]
Colin Vernon[]
To be sorted[]
Raven[]
Voiced by: Hiroki Yasumoto / Jamieson Price |
Initially, not much was known this servant of That Man except that he specializes in dimensional and time-related magic. He was a DLc playable chara in Overture, then an allied NPC in Xrd, and finally was Promoted to Playable in Xrd- REVELATOR-. Both the latter game and the 10 Annivesary Memorial Book shed a LOT of insight on his motivations and his past.
- Badass Army: Shares an undead-ish army with Valentine.
- Badass Cape
- Ex-Church Militant: He was once a crusader, the real crusaders, not the Holy Knights.
- Combat Sadomasochist: The rare Anti-Hero version. Being fully immortal and being almost unable to feel pain, he gets excited when hit, blown up, etc.. It even shows in his REVELATOR sprite: sharp-eyed players will notice that if he's hit enough times, he gets a Raging Stiffie.
- Dark Is Not Evil: While hardly an angel, he's not exactly a villain.
- Depending on the Artist: His design has changed a LOT.
- Enigmatic Minion - Raven appears, reappears to put I-No in her place. At the very least, Raven can fight interdimensionally (which he does with Faust at once point in the manga) and regenerates faster than Sol's flames can burn him as he claims to not feel the heat. The Memorial Book explains the extremely cruel and messed up reasons why
- Evil Counterpart: Seemed to be one to Axl Low, but it was Jossed by Word of God in the 10th Memorial book!}}. He's revealed to not actually be evil, even.
- Healing Hands: He used this in the past, and became increasingly cynical when the people he helped ended up treating him like "a glorified janitor" for it. In the present, he uses this skill offscreen to save Ramlethal's life after Ariels almost kills her.
- Immortality: Type I, he regenerates faster than Sol's flames burning him. Used to an horrible extreme in his Xrd Instant Kill, where he grabs his opponent by the neck and then vaporizes the two of them. And THEN he emerges from his own ashes.
- Master of Illusion: He warps through dimensions and creates smoke clouds that turn into flocks of ravens as a boss-only move in Overture. He gains this move when playable in REVELATOR.
- Messianic Archetype. Deconstructed: Raven used to be an All-Loving Hero, but people took it for granted and simply demanded more and more from him. He follows Asuka aka That Man because he treated him like a person, not a "glorified handyman".
- Nigh Invulnerable: Raven shrugs off Sol's attacks nonchalantly. He was born this way.
- Older Is Better - Really 700 Years Old: Was an active during Crusades in the medieval period (1200-1400). He still looks like a man in his 30's, tops.
- The Red Baron: "The Undying Disease"
- Too Kinky to Torture: In Overture it is revealed that Raven is stimulated by pain, possibly sexually so. Confirmed and taken Up to Eleven (to comical extremes, even) in Xrd - he pretty much welcomes any attacks that come his way, no matter how painful they are, since he has Complete Immortality and is implied that, with few exceptions, he can Feel No Pain
- Who Wants to Live Forever?: A key personality trait is that he is in constant weariness from his Complete Immortality. In the middle of the Crusades, he was captured by the enemy and subjected to a Death of a Thousand Cuts - and survived it.
That Man[]
Voiced by: Yasunori Masutani (X-XX), Tomokazu Sugita (Overture & AC) / Yuri Lowenthal |
The co-creator of the Gears along with Sol and a woman named Aria. Like Sol, he too feels remorse for creating them in the first place, but feels that he should manipulate things from the shadows. He has 2 servants to assist him in his mysterious goals: the time-traveler Raven, and I-no. He also has connections with several other characters, such as Baiken, Anji, and Axl Low, but mainly Sol & Justice. In XX, he appears after I-no is beaten by Sol, and renders her unconscious. An enraged Sol attacks, but That Man simply brushes it off and delivers a stunning blow to him. He states that Sol is necessary for the world's fate to be decided, but Sol doesn't buy it. Later, he is found by Anji who, as revealed in Accent Core + , decides to join him for the world's betterment (and to keep I-no on a leash). In Sol's bad ending, That Man chews him out, saying that he can exist outside of time through some means that have not been confirmed yet. He leaves a writhing, agonized Sol to his fate as he starts to burn away from existence. |
In Overture he oversees the actions of Valentine while putting his own schemes in motion to prevent a "Merciless Apocalypse". He appears before Sol, who transforms into his true Gear form to do battle with him (his first appearance as a boss in the series). Later, he reveals to Sol that Valentine is a clone of Aria, who was "already killed", strongly hinting at the fact that Aria is, in fact, Justice. After Sol's departure, he talks with Raven about how Sol's Dragon Install is "corroding", and alludes that there may be more copies of Valentine out there. |
- Affably Evil
- Anti-Villain: He doesn't want the end of the world, but his actions seem to contradict this. He turns out to have been Good All Along. But extremely enigmatic about it.
- The Atoner: He repeatedly comments that he deserves every bit of Sol's hatred. But not for the reasons one would expect.
- Big Bad: It's... very complicated. And he's not as villainous as believed.
- Breaking Speech: Towards Sol, several times.
- The Chessmaster
- Dark Messiah: Pretty much opposite towards Sol.
- Evil Plan Subverted, again. He's not actually evil.
- The Faceless: Subverted in Accent Core and completely averted in the official Overture guidebook. In Accent Core we only get to see the outline of his face, but the guidebook reveals that he is Caucasian, and has white hair. The only thing not visible about him is his eyes, which are covered by his hair. Because of this, several people now tend to compare him to Near from Death Note. His face is finally seen in REVELATOR.
- Hidden Agenda Villain
- Magi Babble
- Manipulative Bastard
- No Name Given: Until Xrd REVELATOR -SIGN-. His actual name is Asuka R. Kreutz.
- Older Is Better
- The Omniscient Council of Vagueness: Talks about vague things with his minions every game.
- So Proud of You:
"Dizzy, you are the hope for the world. Beyond my wildest dreams." |
April[]
Voiced by: Yumiko Ogawa (XX), Yukiko Kato (AC+) |
May's best friend in the Jellyfish Pirates. |
- Bridge Bunny: Is the helmswoman of the Jellyfish Pirates's airship.
- Early-Bird Cameo: Appeared as early as X.
- Genki Girl
- Satellite Character: Is May's friend and...not much else is known.
Sharon[]
Slayer's immortal wife who is always seen to be accompanying him. Apparently, she isn't a vampire. |
- Immortality: Type 1. Slayer drains all her blood before entering battle and she does not mind it.
- Happily Married
- Lady in Red
- She's Got Legs
- Tall, Dark and Bishoujo
- The Speechless / The Voiceless: She never spoke though Slayer is always conversing with her.
Crow[]
Voiced by: Hiroki Yasumoto |
An amoral scientist who works for the PWAB. He has a connection with Johnny. He meddles with many of the characters by making Justice clones and having them fight. |
- Gratuitous English: "THAT'S RIGHT!"
- Gratuitous Spanish: "BRAVO!"
- Hidden Agenda Villain
- I Have You Now My Princess: Happens when Crow captures Dizzy.
- Mad Scientist
