- And the Fandom Rejoiced: News that the sequel is getting a major theatrical release unrated brought cheers from not only fans of the original, but from horror fans in general, who see it as a turning of the tide against watered-down Hollywood horror films.
- Complete Monster: The comics revealed Victor to be one. Though the circumstances of his birth and his bullying were tragic, he only cared for his father. When a young Jack Cracker rescued him from bullies and gave him back his doll, Victor bit his eye out. After his death, Victor came back and, though ostensibly searching for his father, brutally killed anyone in the swamp. A murderous and violent beast, Victor’s tragic past left no excuse for his violent actions.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: The boat crash is reminiscent of the 2007 giant alligator film Rogue.
