Hiroko Konishi
Hiroko Konishi (小西 寛子) is a Japanese voice actress, singer-songwriter, and writer, born on October 26, 1975. She is known for her distinctive soft voice and leading roles in anime such as Mahou Tsukai Tai! (as Sae Sawanoguchi), Jubei-chan (as Jiyu Nanohana), Ojarumaru, You're Under Arrest, Sexy Commando Gaiden, and Digimon Adventure (as Takeru Takaishi).
In addition to voice acting, Konishi has released several solo albums, contributed lyrics and vocals to anime theme songs, and actively engages in writing, hosting, and legal commentary. She holds a law degree from Chuo University and is also involved in AI and media ethics advocacy.
In 2018, Konishi publicly revealed that she had experienced improper treatment and contract issues within the entertainment industry. She raised concerns about the unauthorized use of her voice recordings by NHK and broader structural issues, including the lack of transparency and accountability in voice talent management. Her public advocacy has been covered by Japanese and international media, including Anime News Network.
Some third-party sources have falsely labeled Konishi as a "former voice actress" or claimed she retired from the industry. These statements are unsubstantiated and factually incorrect. According to her official profile on hirokokonishi.com, she continues to work actively as a voice actress, musician, writer, and public commentator. Mischaracterizing her professional status without evidence is misleading and potentially defamatory.
Konishi continues her creative activities under the agency Office Squirrel and remains active in voice, music, and media commentary fields.
