Hotdadalfor

The Hot Dad, a male parental figure that caters to the female (or gay male) demographic's wants and desires.

The Hot Dad possesses an appearance more fitting for half his age, and is often a widower. He dotes on his daughter with a borderline-homicidal protectiveness should any male her age even glance at her. If his wife is still alive she is almost always a Hot Mom. To the utter embarrassment of their child, they act like high-schoolers in love in front of his/her friends.

Sometimes abbreviated as a DILF, short for "Daddy I'd Like (to) Fuck."

In the case where the Hot Dad is actively pursued by women half his age in-universe, he can become the series Stacy's Mom. Contrast The Ugly Guy's Hot Daughter.

No Real Life Examples, Please. We'd never reach an agreement!

Examples of Hot Dad include:

Anime and Manga[]

  • In Naruto, there's Minato Namikaze, the main character's father. Note that Minato died only a few hours after Naruto's birth so he may only be in his early 20s.
    • Like the Hakoda example below, Shikaku (Shikamaru's dad) is kinda roughed up but still quite popular. Same to his old friend/partner in the Ino-Shika-Cho trio, Ino's father Inoichi Yamanaka.
    • And Hizashi Hyuuga, Neji's father. Too bad he's been dead for years. Until recently. Damn you, Kabutomaru.
    • At the very end, several male characters have reached their mid 30's and now are hot dads. The list includes: Naruto himself, Shikamaru, Sai, Chouji (in a BBM way), Sasuke and for many Rock Lee.
  • Kinomoto Sakura's father, Fujitaka, in Cardcaptor Sakura, who is a widowed archaeology professor who also finds time to do housework for his kids, defines this trope. The mother of Tomoyo, Sakura's best friend, says she hates him because he is too perfect. The fact that, parallel to her daughter, she was in love with Sakura's mother, might also have something to do with it.
    • It runs in the family. Sakura's [alternate universe counterpart's from "Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle"] own husband later becomes this after they married, and their son still couldn't match Syaoran Sr's mature look after all his time in the story.
    • Until Syaoran Sr. was aged down, of course. Then they're identical. But still attractive by most standards.
  • Forbessi, the Kind and Handsome Demon Lord father of Nerine in the harem anime Shuffle.
  • Akio Furukawa, the father of Nagisa in Clannad is an exception to the model: Handsome though he may be, he is a coarse, loud, brash and hyperactive oaf of a child-trapped-in-a-man's-body, and a baker to boot. He is still very much openly (and publicly) in love with his Hot Mom wife Sanae, much to their daughter's embarrassment. After Ushio's birth, he is now a Hot GRANDPA!
    • Also Tomoya becomes a Hot Dad, as well. And fits more in the model, at least after episode 18 of After Story
  • Deathscythe aka Spirit Albarn, Maka Albarn's father in Soul Eater is the greatest Weapon/Warrior of Death City on top of being a handsome, kind-hearted and devoted father. His only flaw is, unfortunately, that he is a cheating loser whose unfaithful behavior cost him his marriage and his daughter's respect.
  • Hare's dad is one of these (goes with his mom). He's kind of a jerk though.
  • The Miyazawa family's father, Takashi, in Kare Kano. Also, Tsubasa Shibahime's father; he's so handsome that Yukino lampshades the trope by going googly-eyed when she meets him.
    • Also, Souichiro Arima himself at the end of the series.
    • And let's not forget Reiji, Soichiro's biological father!
  • Son Goku, Krillin and especially Vegeta have been worshiped as such amongst certain fangirl communities. Heck, even Piccolo is subject to this worship, with his fatherly relationship to Son Gohan as justification.
    • In Goku's case, this is also in-universe. The women who actually found him rather attractive (other than of course his wife Chi-Chi) are Bulma, Bulma's mother (both of whom are married hot moms, although the former was still dating Yamcha when she realized this and it was more "He's All Grown Up!" than anything else), and Princess Snake and her servants in the anime (although she may simply want to eat Goku).
    • Don't forget Goku's son,Gohan, after Pan´s birth.
    • Krillin doesn't have a nose, plus he is short,so he is more Ugly Cute.
  • And there is Ryouji "Ranka" Fujioka, Haruhi's dad in Ouran High School Host Club. Sure, he is a very convincing Cross Dresser, but he is also fairly attractive when in male garb (and his dead wife Kotoko was a Hot Mom)...
    • Tamaki's father, Yuzuru, is pretty good looking for being 48 (and his mistress/Tamaki's mother Anne is DEFINITELY a Hot Mom). Hikaru's and Kaoru's father is quite attractive, too (and married to a Hot Mom... go figure).
  • Sarah Macdougal's father Noriyasu Seta (of Love Hina) is lusted after by most of the female cast, not to mention being a gullible-kind hearted-handsome-genius-archeology professor-who is also a master of Jeet Kun Do Kung Fu definitely qualifies him for this trope. And he is also a menace to society when he is driving.
  • Konoka's father Eishun (a Japanese pronunciation of the Chinese Kung Fu style "Wing Chun") in Mahou Sensei Negima, who is a wise Martial-Arts Master AND Grand Sorcerer, is a slightly older example.
    • Eishun is a subversion, actually. It's mentioned that, while not ugly, he was rather plain when compared to Bishonen like Nagi and Alberio, and on top of it he didn't age super well. In fact, when Eishun's old friend Jack Rakan met Konoka, he was all "what, that ugly swordsman REALLY fathered such a cute little girl?!"
    • And for that matter, Nagi Springfield from the same franchise is one of the few examples of this trope who has no daughters (Nekane is genetically Negi's cousin, not big sister proper). In-story, he even has legions of fangirls, although most of them are unaware that he's a dad.
    • Negima seems to be in love with this trope, as Genki Girl Yuuna Akashi's father was revealed to be a Hot Dad during her Day in The Limelight chapter. Apparently, he's so hot his own daughter seems just a little too... attached to him.
  • Though he's technically Kyo's uncle, not father, Kazuma Sohma from Fruits Basket has practically raised Kyo after his mother's suicide, and also took Rin in after she was released from the hospital. He's handsome, gentle, wise, knows his martial arts (he has a dojo, after all)... and is one really Lethal Chef.
    • Shigure arguably sort-of filled this role (at least in the early part of the manga).
    • Katsuya Honda, Tohru's late dad, fulfills this trope, too, and Akito's dad Akira was so hot that he was described as having an "unearthly beauty". And of course, Kyou becomes probably the hottest dad in the series, with several of his cousins (Yuki, Shigure, etc.) following in the sequel Fruits Basket Another.
  • There's also Daisuke's father Kosuke in D.N.Angel. Not a widower, but the rest of the description more or less fits.
  • Ginji Kawai, Sasami's dad in the Pretty Sammy series, who apparently can do anything, including going out in space as an astronaut.
  • Not shoujo, but close enough, Shiro Takamachi of Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha is an ex-assassin / bodyguard now bakery owner. And he was dead in the series that he and his family were originally from.
  • Akkan Baby had the seafaring, long-haired, nice and roguishly handsome dad of the male lead. The "hot" part of the trope was averted with the father of the female lead who was chubby and somewhat cowardly, though also very nice and he, at least, didn't tend to Parental Abandonment.
  • While he's not actually Rosette's father (merely her legal guardian), Father Remington of Chrono Crusade could quite possibly fit this trope. Rosette herself even has a crush on him! (Can you blame her, tho?)
  • Yucie's father in Petite Princess Yucie isn't particularly "hot" (maybe if he ditched the facial hair...), but his nurturing personality fits the trope.
  • He's a father figure rather than an actual father, but Dr. Wakaouji in Full Moon o Sagashite seems to fit this trope regardless. He's attractive, kind, loving, and amazingly understanding; has a lucrative job as a doctor; and, as an added bonus, is a retired rock star. He's single for most of the series, too (although he eventually gets together with resident Christmas Cake Ooshige).
  • Newest Noah, Sheryl Kamelot of D.Gray-man, who might be a bit too affectionate towards his "daughter" Road Kamelot and "younger brother" Tyki Mikk.
    • General Cross could fit here too, seeing how he "raised" Allen for five years.
  • Although the show is definitely shounen, Max Jenius in Macross 7 is just as hot in his fifties as he was in teens — except that he's got even cooler shades and Hajime Saito-style Ahoge. Let's just forget that he's also Cool Old Guy, The Ace and, quite obviously, the Canon Sue.
  • The inclusion of Hosokawa Gracia in Samurai Warriors 2 Xtreme Legends makes Akechi Mitsuhide a Hot Dad. It's probably the first role ever done by Hikaru Midorikawa as someone who had a child...
  • Nanjiroh Echizen would qualify as Hot Dad if he shaved his stubble and dressed more or less normally. He was very attractive and a ladies man in his younger years (and married the Tsundere who didn't take his crap).
  • He probably avoided this list for so long because people often remember him for his shadowy, smiley-faced form, but Hotaru's father Doctor Shuichi Tomoe from Sailor Moon was actually something of a White-Haired Pretty Boy when all of the shadows were removed. More exactly, once he was debrainwashed and the true Big Bad was revealed.
    • Usagi's dad Kenji qualifies too; he's very tall and well-built. And SM Crystal makes him EVEN HOTTER, if that's even possible.
    • Considering Chibi-Usa, it's very safe to say that Mamoru himself will become a Hot Dad once she's properly born in the future. Hell, one of the reason's Usagi likes Mamoru is because he reminds her of her father.
    • Even Artemis the cat is a Hot Dad. When in his White-Haired Pretty Boy human form, that is.
  • Kim Kaphwan from Fatal Fury and The King of Fighters. Especially in the Special games (where his two kids show up in his intros and win poses) and the Motion Picture (where his also gorgeous wife appears too).
  • Kirepapa provides a yaoi example — Chisato is old enough to be the father of teenaged Riju, but has a very cute and youthful appearance. Riju's upperclassman chum Shunsuke sees him as definite DILF material.
    • Hell, Shunsuke's dad (and Chisato's former upperclassman) should count too! Especially if you have a thing for the CEO type in suit and glasses. Also, they get a flashback to their teen years, wherein Chisato is... even more uke.
  • For the female tropers who like their guys older and more rugged, Colonel Badass Sergei Smirnov from Mobile Suit Gundam 00 definitely qualifies. He was shown in his younger years in the second season's flashbacks, too.
    • Relena Darlian's (adoptive) father, Premier Darlian, was very Tall, Dark and Handsome. Her biological father King Peacecraft cut a very impressive figure, too, combining his Badass Beard with a nice military uniform and quite a long hair. Too bad he's dead.
    • Quatre's father Zayeed "Master" Winner also was pretty good-looking. Basically, age up Quatre's "best friend" Trowa by 25 years, add a Badass Moustache, and here you go.
    • By the time Zeta Gundam rolls in, Captain Bright Noah from the original Gundam series has become a Hot Dad. Some consider Hayato Kobayashi to be a cute one, too, despite not being a bishonen by any league.
    • Hangelb Evin, Uso Evin's dad is also an example.
    • Domon Kasshu's father, Dr. Raizou Kasshu, is an older example. And apparently, an evil one. He was framed, by the way, so he wasn't a bad guy in the end.
    • A Zig Zagged Trope in Gundam AGE. While second-season!Flit Asuno isn't ugly by ANY standards, the huge stress and hard work coming from his high responsabilities in the UE military as well as his Dark and Troubled Past make him look quite older than his 39 years old, contrasting with his Hot Mom wife and Victorious Childhood Friend Emily, who barely aged in the Time Skip. However, some pictures taken few years before the second season took place (when his son and second season protagonist Asemu was a little kid) show that he played the trope incredibly straight. And in the third season of the show, at age 53 Flit moved into hot grandfather status.
  • Once again, Baccano!'s Huey Laforet hardly a "figure of impossible perfection," being a morally ambiguous Mad Scientist currently spending prison time for federal treason, but he is an almost disturbingly pretty father of two who, thanks to alchemically-induced Immortality, looks more like his eldest daughter's half-identical twin brother than parent.
  • Suguru Daimon, Masaru's father in Digimon Savers, turns out to be one when he finally shows up. He's also Badass enough to fight on the same level as Mega-level digimon with his bare hands.
    • Another Digimon example is Yamato's (divorced) dad, Hiroaki Ishida.
    • All of the male Digidestined become Hot Dads in the end.
  • Beauty Pop's Kiri Koshiba has a Hot Dad in her father, Seiji Koshiba. At the moment he's more on the scruffy seinen side, but flashbacks to his glory days as 'The Number One Stylist In The World' show him as totally bish. Presumably, Narumi Shogo's dad was also fairly hot-- We never see him from the front, but it's often remarked how alike he and his son are, so presumably he would've looked like Narumi (if a bit older).
  • In Zodiac P.I., Lili's dad Inspector Hoshizawa is definitely bishonen, and it's remarked on by Lili's friends as well.
  • Mr. Koiwai from Yotsubato.
  • Mai-Otome seemed to be trying for this with Nina's adoptive father Sergey.
  • Bleach's Dr. Isshin Kurosaki. Seriously, just look at him. And that's even before we find out that he's also a pretty badass Soul Reaper on par with Ichigo himself, a fact he's forced to reveal to a few minor characters when he takes on the Hollow that killed his wife in order to protect Ichigo's (Kon-inhabited) body. Damn.
    • There's also Dr. Ishida Ryuuken, who looks more like Uryuu's older brother than his father. And as it turns out, he's not just Dr. Jerk, he's actually more powerful than his son, he just can't be bothered to use his powers due to the cruel Dark and Troubled Past associated with them; and he's known Isshin and his secret for a long time, as they met around 20 years ago. Oh yeah.
    • By the time the Grand Finale hits, Ichigo and Renji have become insanely hot fathers.
  • Akane Tendo's dad Soun from Ranma ½ is tall, dark and handsome. He's generally a good guy too despite being very emotional and friends with Genma.
    • And despite the very weird faces that he makes when he's over-emotional. Still better-looking than many men his age.
    • In the only time he ever bothers to dress up and ditch the odd faces in the anime, Principal Kuno is regarded as extremely handsome. Lampshaded nicely by some female bystanders that see him walk around on the streets in a nice suit... until he ruins it by, well, being himself.
  • Mendou and Ryoko's dad from Urusei Yatsura is a very good looking older man. In fact, he just looks like his son Shuutarou with a mustache.
  • Shun Mitaka is heading towards this trope by the end of Maison Ikkoku, with Asuna as his soon-to-be Hot Mom lady. Yusaku Godai has already reached it, though he's more cute than hot. Especially compared with his Hot Mom companion, Kyouko.
  • Syn I from Helios Eclipse. Who is also Eddy. While his child may be a toddler, Spade certainly counts too.
  • The main character's father in Aoi Destruction, who looks and acts more like a little girl to the point that Even the Guys Want Him, until even after they've realized that it's a trap.
  • Van Hohenheim from Fullmetal Alchemist looks older than the standard and is MUCH. much older than he looks, but fits in like whoa.
    • Hughes too.
    • Father in his final form. It helps that he looks like a younger Hohenheim
    • And in the end of the manga, Ed becomes a hot dad too. With Winry as his Hot Mom companion.
  • Rudolf Ushiromiya has aged pretty well. One of the few examples that has both a handsome son AND an adorable little daughter (who grows up to be quite pretty herself). He's also a unique widower in that he has already remarried, and his second wife/Ange's mother Kyrie is a Hot Mom White-Haired Pretty Girl.
  • Honey Kisaragi's father, Dr. Kisaragi, was made into this for Cutie Honey Flash.
  • Hajime Shibata in Hell Girl, despite token attempts at slobbishness (i.e. four-o'clock stubble). Also looks ludicrously young, when you consider that his daughter Tsugumi is at least ten years old.
  • Sabato Rokudo, Rinne's father, from RIN-NE. Too bad he's an horrible Jerkass.
  • Yoh and Ren from Shaman King become this, from what one sees in the side stories after the manga had ended. Before he got badly scarred and hid his face under a Cool Mask, Yoh's father Mikihisa was pretty good looking too, if a bit on the hobo side.
  • Though Your Mileage May Vary... Gendo Ikari. I mean, tell me he isn't handsome for a man who's pushing 50.
  • Chikage from Antique Bakery certainly qualifies in the hotness department, but he's a dad only in the most literal sense. As a Cloudcuckoolander, he was smart enough to know that he wouldn't be a great parent, but agreed to help someone conceive anyway (the woman chose him mainly for his looks). One of the other characters is surprised that he even knew how to make children.
  • Haru's father Gale Glory from Rave Master. And Haru himself, based on the Levin comic strips, who happens to be his son.
  • Vincent Phantomhive from Black Butler.
  • At the end of Karin, Kenta and Ren become this.
  • From Nagasarete Airantou, Ikuto's Disappeared Dad, who looks a lot like his son. His wife is also a Hot Mom. It's clear to see where Ikuto and Utau get their looks from.
  • Rahzel's adopted father from Hatenkou Yuugi fits this trope so, so well. Her biological father's not bad either.
  • Kaburagi Kotetsu, a.k.a. Wild Tiger from Tiger and Bunny. In his late thirties (or so), he's widowed with a nine-year old daughter. He's also achieved Memetic Sex God status in the fandom.
  • Sena's dad Seiya in Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai without a doubt qualifies as cute
  • Daisuke's dad and Satoshi's dad in D.N.Angel.
  • Fate/Zero's Kiritsugu Emiya, adoptive father of Fate/stay night's Shirou Emiya, with a Hot Mom ( Illya's mom Irisviel) for a wife as well, though he has none of the other traits usually associated with this trope. He is a widower by the time Fate/stay night rolls around, though in there he only appears during flashbacks. Rin's father Tokiomi Tohsaka is also one of those, and also has a Hot Mom for a wife (Aoi) and none of the other associated traits.
  • Technically, Holland from Eureka Seven, since he and Talho end up expecting (surprise!) about 3/4ths of the way through the series.
  • At the very ending of Rurouni Kenshin, Kenshin himself swears by this trope. The Hokkaido arc manga confirms it via giving him not just a Hot Mom wife (Kaoru) and a cute child (Kenji), but three adoptive children of sorts (Alan, Ashitaro and Asahi)
  • At the very end of the Shin Kyojin no Hoshi TV series, Mitsuru Hanagata becomes an extremely Tall, Dark and Handsome new father. With his wife Akiko Hanagata (née Hoshi) as a Hot Mom.
  • Inuyasha:
    • In his human form, Toga/Inu-No-Taisho aka Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru's father was a very handsome demon man who heavily resembled both of his sons.
    • The late fathers of Shiori and Jinenji also were rather handsome youkai men.
    • At the end of the series, Miroku became one and had Sango as his Hot Mom companion. When he shows up in Hanyou no Yashahime, he has somewhat aged (well, the sequel does take place almost 20 years after the end of the original series) but he's still quite good-looking.
      • And logically, both Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha have become good-looking dads. Their ladies? The grown-up Rin and Kagome, respectively. As a bonus, the episodes in the modern era show that Souta, Kagome's little brother, has grown into a quite good-looking father with a just as cute wife (Moe) and a super cute daughter (Mei), plus a nice Parental Substitute for Towa and later for Setsuna and his own niece Moroha.
      • Last but not least, Kouga also counts as a Parental Substitute version, since he and his wife Ayame (alias his Hot Mom companion) initially raised Moroha in Inuyasha and Kagome's stead.

Comics[]

  • Batman currently has six kids running around the DCnU: his biological son (Damian), three adopted sons (Dick, Jason, Tim), one adopted daughter (Cassandra Cain), and one biological daughter from a parallel universe (Helena aka Huntress).
  • Max aka Erik aka Magnus aka Magneto from the X-Men.
  • In Gold Digger, Theodore Diggers: father of three, grandfather, and all-around beefcake. He still makes women swoon well into his sixties, including his own hot wife Julia.
  • In Teen Titans and Green Arrow, Roy Harper definitely qualifies.

Film[]

Literature[]

  • Mo from The Inkworld Trilogy. In the books, his appearance is actually fairly ordinary, but harm one hair on Meggie's head, and prepare for pain. The movie version, of course, is upping his attractiveness somewhat.
    • Then again, Fenoglio chose him as a heroic figure as they're expected to be handsome.
    • Word of God is that he was always supposed to be Brendan Fraser, although it didn't come across so clearly to the reader until Inkspell.
  • Twilight's Dr. Carlisle Cullen. He's not a widower (he's been married to Esme for nearly a century), but he fits just about every other requirement of this trope.
  • Outlander has Lord John fitting this trope. Already established as a fan-favorite Straight Gay, slightly bishonen Officer and a Gentleman, he shifts into hot protective dad mode whenever his adopted son William comes into play.
  • In The Dresden Files we have Harry Dresden himself!
    • As well as Michael Carpenter.
  • In Marisha Pessl's Special Topics in Calamity Physics, Blue Van Meer's father Gareth is one of these. Constantly moving around, he seduces a string of attractive women and discards them when he tires of them. Blue eventually comes to realize what a Jerkass he is.
  • Mentioned in the Doctor Who Eighth Doctor Adventures novel Father Time. The Eighth Doctor appears to be around forty and is such a Mr. Fanservice that the actor who played him actually has his own Estrogen Brigade. Miranda, his adopted daughter, has a best friend and classmate who, at only fifteen, squicks said daughter by saying he's "gorgeous" and "hunky" and inquiring as to whether he "go[es] in for the schoolgirl type," and generally displays an excessive interest in his (almost nonexistent) love life.
  • Oberyn Martell, of A Song of Ice and Fire. Has 8 bastard daughters and is a Memetic Sex God.
    • Some consider Eddard "Ned" Stark as one too. He's played by Sean Bean in the live-action, so...
    • Jaime Lannister is one too, as the incestuous lover of his sister Cersei and the father of her three kids.
  • Tekla's father Tommy in Viveca Lärn's Tekla series. An extremely handsome 33-year-old artist, he's always getting chased by the women, much to his daughter's chagrin.

Live-Action TV[]

Video Games[]

  • Fire Emblem:
    • Almost all the guys in Genealogy of the Holy War's first generation can become hot dads if they're paired up. (Except Arden. Poor guy.) Quan already is one, and then there's Sigurd...
      • Special mention goes to Prince Lewyn of Silesse: even if the player don't manage to hook him up with anyone in Gen 1, he becomes the Team Dad for the kids in Gen 2 and has already been Princess Julia's Parental Substitute for a while.
      • Also to Fin, who is the Parental Substitute for Leif and Nanna in both Gen 2 and Thracia 776 whether you hook him up or not with any Gen 1 girl. Though he does double duty too if the player did manage to pair him up, and especially if his Hot Mom partner was Lachesis, since she is Nanna's mother. Even more so, Thracia 776 all but canonizes him as Nanna's birth dad — and officially confirms Lewyn as Ced and Fee's father.
    • In Fire Emblem The Sacred Stones, Ephraim and Eirika's father Fado in is still quite rugged looking and handsome. This is made fun of in the Gheb patch.
      • Innes and Tana's father King Hayden isn't hard on the eyes, either.
      • L'Arachel's uncle and caretaker, Pontifex Mansel, counts too.
      • And Emperor Vigarde aka Lyon's dad. Too bad he Came Back Wrong.
      • A non-human example is Morva, Myrr's stepfather. He also Came Back Wrong.
      • Several guys are mentioned to become hot dads if the player gets them to reach A support with some pre-determined girls. Such A-support endings are: Franz/Amelia (daughter), Ross/Amelia (son), Ewan/Amelia (daughter), Kyle/Lute (son), Kyle/Selene (daughter), Innes/Vanessa (gender not specified), Colm/Neimi (son and daughter), Artur/Lute (son) and Saleh/Eirika (daughter). It should be noticed that not every guy who gets married is specifically mentioned to become a dad, so...
    • Fire Emblem Awakening and Fire Emblem Fates uses a similar Lovers/Family/Inheritance deal as Genealogy, so near all the first generation men qualify as hot dads if they marry and have kids — and so do the second generation dudes, if romanced by a Female Avatar. (The closest to an exception, Benny from Fates, is still considered adorable due to him being a Gentle Giant). Of special note are Chrom and the Male Avatar from Awakening, and both the Male Avatar and the Royal Princes from Fates.
    • Three Houses has Byleth's Hunky middle-aged dad Jeralt, Dimitri's Disappeared Dad King Lambert, Annette's Silver Fox father Gilbert, Felix's dad Lord Rodrigue, and Flayn/Cethleann's father Seteth/Cichol. (They pose as a brother raising his sister, tho). The endings state that many of the younger guys in the cast will become this with time.
  • Though he is only Trucy's adoptive father, there's been quite the buzz about Phoenix Wright's incarnation in Apollo Justice. It doesn't help that seven years' bad luck has turned him into a chessmaster capable of pulling off one of the most confusing schemes you've ever seen. And when Dual Destinies hits, Phoenix sheds away the hobo looks from Apollo Justice and looks as young and Adorkable as in the first game.
  • Persona 4's Ryotaro Dojima doesn't quite fit the traits above (although he tries), but he is still this to many fans. Including some of the guys.
  • Your Mileage May Vary, but Harry Mason of Silent Hill is about as handsome a man as the PSX was able to render. He is also willing to (almost literally) go through hell and back for his adopted daughter.
  • Braska of Final Fantasy X is a borderline example: Since he died when Yuna was little, all of his appearances in the game naturally show him as an attractive young man in his mid/late-twenties. He definitely fits the rest of the trope, though--after Yuna's mother died when Sin destroyed the ship she was in, he decided to take on Sin so neither Yuna nor the rest of the world would suffer the same pain he went through.
  • Laguna Loire from Final Fantasy VIII. My god, look at him, you'd think he was still a teenager instead of old enough to be Squall's father.
  • Kratos Aurion, Lloyd's father from Tales of Symphonia. Subverted that despite being a rather powerful warrior, he shows 'kindness' and 'loving' by other means than usual shoujo dads. It also helps that the special Cruxis technology in his body stops his biological clock, so he's technically been twenty-eight for about 4,000 years at this point.
  • In Tales of Destiny 2, Stahn has a 15-year-old son, but barely seems to have aged at all himself. Add a shoujo artist (Mutsumi Inomata) to the mix, and voila.
  • Norman and Byron in Pokémon. Some may consider Koga one of these as well.
    • How can you not mention Palmer? He seems to be this mixed with Memetic Sex God.
  • From Final Fantasy VI, Shadow. Or at least one can imagine. Considering how powerful and agile (and sexy) he is, one might forget he's old enough to have a 10-year-old daughter.
    • Maduin, Terra's father, is pretty good looking for an Esper.
  • Guilty Gear: Ky Kiske counts after the events of Guilty Gear 2, with Dizzy as his Hot Mom companion.
    • Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator SIGN confirms what the fandom had speculated for years: that Frederick aka Sol Badguy is the very hot father of the aforementioned Dizzy.
  • Raiden in Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty and especially in 4, after a lot of reconstructive surgery and prosthetic limbs are attached.
  • The few times we see him, Golden Sun's Kyle looks like he could be Isaac's scruffy older brother.
    • And it seems to run in the family, as Isaac himself is shaping up to be this in Dark Dawn.
    • Alex is implied to be Amiti's father in Dark Dawn, and still every bit the Bishounen he was in the first two games. On the other hand, he's also still Alex.
  • Dr. Cossack from Mega Man. Does anyone else find those glasses incredibly attractive? Anyone?
  • Kazuma Kiryuu from Yakuza is apparently one of these; all the women at the hostess clubs seem to find him very attractive.
  • Cecil is already considered very attractive in Final Fantasy IV. Seventeen years and one marriage-and-kid later...and little has changed.
    • Though Cecil's the only one with a child in The After Years, the same basic principle (attractive older man) applies to Edge, Kain, Golbez, and Edward (Yang too, if your taste runs that way). These are men ranging from thirty-eight to fifty-two, all of them looking at least ten years younger. Significant parts of the fandom find them more attractive now than at their supposed prime.
  • In Disgaea Hour of Darkness, it turns out that, much to everyone's surprise, the self-titled Dark Adonis Vyers has a teenaged son: Laharl.
  • Chuck Greene from Dead Rising 2 is a stellar example. Apart from his rugged good looks, he's good with his hands, would go through hell for his daughter, and can be dressed in skimpy outfits.
  • Carth Onasi from Knights of the Old Republic. Of course, he lost his son in the Telos bombing And the player does find the kid. He's gone Sith, and it's on both his dad and the PC to try and talk him out of it...if the player's inclined..
  • James McCloud, completely with Cool Shades.
  • In Mortal Kombat X, after the 25 year Time Skip, three male characters have reached this status: Jackson "Jax" Briggs (with a daughter, Jacqui), Jonathan Carlton aka Johnny Cage (with his and Sonya's daughter, Cassie), and Kenshi Takahashi (with a son, Takeda). Johnny's Hot Dad status is hilariously lampshaded in a pre-fight intro: Cassie is extremely angry at her best friend Jacqui... because she commented on how handsome she thinks Johnny is.
  • Kazuya Mishima from Tekken is the rare Archnemesis Dad example, as he's very ruggedly handsome but pretty much completely evil.
  • The bread and butter of the LGBT Dating Sim Dream Daddy. All the love interests for the male Player Character are attractive men with children, and the MC can be one to his young daughter Amanda if the player customizes him as such.
  • In Street Fighter Guile is already a very Hunky dad when he appears — though he's kinda distanced from his Hot Mom wife Julia and their pre-teen daughter Amy until his ending rolls.
    • When Street Fighter IV rolls in, Ken Masters becomes a VERY handsome father. With the aforementioned Julia's younger sister, Eliza, as his Hot Mom companion.
