- Cannot Tell a Joke / The Comically Serious: In all the years Batman has been on the show, he hasn't made a single proper gag.

- Decoy Protagonist: In Zero Hour. With the speed and precision with which he takes control of the situation involving Lance's head, you could be mistaken for believing he's The Hero this time around. Turns out, he's a Supporting Leader.

- Buddy Cop Show: He's the "bad cop" to Rorschach in "Rorschach & Deadpool".

An Original Character introduced in After Hours. He's revealed as Lex Luthor's spy early on. Is a douche. As it turns out, he's a demi-android created through S.H.I.E.L.D. and Cadmus technology; designed to be so realistic that nobody could suspect him of being mechanical. Most of the plots revolve around him in some way. Dude.
- ApocalypseDude:In Happy Hour, and Zero Hour.
- Flat Character: His personality consists almost entirely of saying "Dude" and "Dude. Sucks" to passers-by. Invoked by Lex Luthor, as Lance was designed to be the last person anyone would ever want to talk to or suspect of anything intelligent.
- MacGuffinDude: In every season.
- Meaningful Name: As the Nick Furys eventually realise, Lance M. Donovan is a Life Model Decoy, a type of android from the Marvel Universe but enhanced with Project Cadmus technology from the DC Universe.
- Obfuscating Stupidity
- Verbal Tic: "Dude" and "Dude. Sucks."
- Lars M. Dusseldorf
Dubbed "Lance 2.0", Lars serves as a replacement for Lance after he is teleported to Apokolips.
- Jerkass: Way more of a douche than Lance ever was. Lance was just incredibly uninteresting, while this guy is actively snotty and insulting to everyone around him.
- Well, to be fair, "everyone around him" usually means Lex, who definitely has it coming. Also justified — Hail Darkseid, bitches.
- The Mole: Lex didn't even create him — Lars just made him think he did. He really works for Darkseid.
- Smug Snake
- Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Dubbed "Euro Lance" by Green Goblin.

- Character Development: He went from being a villainous load to a competent fighter, and eventually the central character of Zero Hour.
