  • All new trope pages will be made with the "Trope Workshop" found on the "Troper Tools" menu and worked on until they have at least three examples. The Trope workshop specific templates can then be removed and it will be regarded as a regular trope page after being moved to the Main namespace. Kasabian are an English rock band from Leicestershire, currently comprising Tom Meighan, Sergio Pizzorno, Chris Edwards and Jay Mehler. They formed in 1997 with the name Saracuse, and after being picked up changed their name to Kasabian, releasing their first reasonably successful album in 2004.

They have released four albums so far:

  • Kasabian (2004)
  • Empire (2006)
  • West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum (2009)
  • Velociraptor! (2011)

The latter two both reached #1 on the UK albums chart, and Velociraptor! especially received extremely positive reviews, although neither did particularly well in the US.

Kasabian provide examples of:[]

  • Badass Driver: According to the video for "Re-Wired," Sergio Pizzorno is one.
  • Concept Album: According to a T4 interview, each of the songs on West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum is meant to represent an inmate of the eponymous asylum.
  • Epic Riff: It doesn't come in until about halfway through the song, but the main riff of 'Fire' is extremely recognisable.
    • Even more recognisable, to the point where most people would identify the song with the riff, is the riff from "Club Foot"
    • "Vlad the Impaler" is also known for its epic riff.

  • Gratuitous French: 'La Fée Verte'.
  • Noel Fielding: Appears as the title character in "Vlad the Impaler" and briefly reprises it in "Re-Wired."
  • Rotoscoping: The video of 'Shoot the Runner'.
  • Self-Titled Album
  • Shout-Out: The line 'Joker, I'll meet you on the other side' in 'Vlad the Impaler' is a reference to Heath Ledger, who died a month before the single's release. In some performances they replace "Joker" with "Heath Ledger."
    • The video for "Empire" is set during the Crimean War. Also counts as an internal shoutout as the video opens with a runner being killed by a bullet...a la "Shoot the Runner."
