  • Before making a single edit, Tropedia EXPECTS our site policy and manual of style to be followed. Failure to do so may result in deletion of contributions and blocks of users who refuse to learn to do so. Our policies can be reviewed here.
  • All images MUST now have proper attribution, those who neglect to assign at least the "fair use" licensing to an image may have it deleted. All new pages should use the preloadable templates feature on the edit page to add the appropriate basic page markup. Pages that don't do this will be subject to deletion, with or without explanation.
  • All new trope pages will be made with the "Trope Workshop" found on the "Troper Tools" menu and worked on until they have at least three examples. The Trope workshop specific templates can then be removed and it will be regarded as a regular trope page after being moved to the Main namespace. THIS SHOULD BE WORKING NOW, REPORT ANY ISSUES TO Janna2000, SelfCloak or RRabbit42. DON'T MAKE PAGES MANUALLY UNLESS A TEMPLATE IS BROKEN, AND REPORT IT THAT IS THE CASE. PAGES WILL BE DELETED OTHERWISE IF THEY ARE MISSING BASIC MARKUP.

Last Exile has a couple Abridged Series.

Unwardil's Series[]

Cquote1

 LA-A-A-A-ME!

Cquote2

This show provides examples of:

  • Author Avatar: Unwardil plays himself, trying to attract enough attention from the WGA so that the actual Last Exile series will be given a better DVD release. It doesn't work out so well.
  • Anything That Moves: Lady Batshit-Thane is said to be an aggressive nymphomaniac. If the butler is to be believed, even inanimate objects aren't safe.
  • Crowning Music of Awesome: "Through the Steam and Clouds", a parody of "Through The Fire And The Flames" on a fiddle and a doumbek (both played by Unwardil). 6:04 - 7:40.
  • Butt Monkey: The Silvana tech crew pulls this on Mullin to degrees well beyond the original series.
  • Crucified Hero Shot: Alex, as in the actual series. The difference being this time around, Alex does it to himself intentionally as part of his crazy screenwriting method.
  • Did Not Do Research: Played with In-Universe. Wina Lightening, the main crew's sonar operator informed Sophia that sonar would be inherently useless on an airship since it lacks a liquid medium. Sophia instead decided Wina must be a drug addict.
  • Easy Evangelism: Apparently off-screen everyone converted to Goatslam at one point, a religion built around the Lame Goat.
  • Ear Worm: "Chocobo On Rye", for a start.
  • Fanservice: "...and no one looks good in a one-piece G-suit!"
  • Genre Savvy: Par for the course with an abridged series, but taken in a peculiar direction as the characters are less savvy of the genre of Last Exile and far more savvy of abridged series elements.
  • God Save Us From the Queen: Sophia is part this, part Badass. Over the series she goes from being somewhat overly forceful to being a demented, power-mad sadist.
  • Hot Amazon: Sophia, according to the narrator.
  • Honor Before Reason: The Aristocracy just loves this. One officer decries a change of plans (that will cost face but save a vast number of lives in a battle) with "Won't someone please think of the Chivalry!"
  • I Love the Dead: Lord Batshit-Thane's daughter remarks that "dead things turn [her] on". Later she becomes a nurse. The post-plot montage remarks that the death rate at her hospital has never been higher.
  • Larynx Dissonance
    • Partly averted later on by Dounia, who is guest-voiced by Cassius614, an actual female.
  • Man of a Thousand Voices: Even his unconvincing ladies' voices have a variety to them.
  • Medal of Dishonor: Mullin is proud of his survivor medals until Lavie points out that their existence means his military has so little expectation of men that it can afford to give out gold participation awards.
  • Musical Episode: And how! She Who Must Be Obeyed later makes Unwardil summarize it the normal way.
  • Reference Overdosed: Which got called on by the lame goat, until it stopped working.
  • Rule of Cool: Actually a power in this series, competing against the power of lame.
  • Running Gag: The "Lame" Goat, Alvis' stuffed toy with an infuriating sense of comic timing.
  • Saying Sound Effects Out Loud: Virtually every sound effect, a trademark of Unwardil's videos.
  • Self-Deprecation: Unwardil has characters remark he relies too much on lame references.
  • Sesquipedalian Loquaciousness: Considering this is Unwardil, everyone is prone to falling victim to this trope on numerous occasions.
  • Fail O'Suckyname: The nobles are grilled about leaving an important defense post in the hands of Duke Mad/Batshit-Thane, citing that they're putting everyone's lives in the hands of a man whose name means "crazy prince".
  • Too Dumb to Live: "Chivalry!"
  • True Art Is Incomprehensible: Alex as a writer lives and breathes this trope. Most of the more symbolic things that happen late in the series are a result of Alex's strange vision.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: The fourth Mysterion is mentioned once, and then completely forgotten.
