Lethal Weapon 2 is a 1989 action comedy film. Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover) and Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson) have been put in charge of an investigation into a drug smuggling ring, leading fellow officers Megan Shapiro (Jeanette Goldstein), Tim Cavanaugh (Dean Norris), Eddie Estaban (Nestor Serrano), and Tom Wyler (Juney Smith). Unfortunately, the smugglers are South African diplomats, and thus their leaders, Arjen Rudd (Joss Auckland) and Pieter Vorstedt (Derrick O’Connor) are protected by diplomatic immunity. Riggs and Murtaugh are reassigned to guard annoying federal witness Leo Getz (Joe Pesci). They soon realize that the two cases are connected. Meanwhile, Riggs falls for Rudd‘s more liberal assistant Rika van den Haas (Patsy Kensit).
