Life After Dinosaurs (2008) is a TV Documentary aired on the National Geographic Channel focusing mostly on mammals, both during and after the age of dinosaurs. Rather mediocre CGI, and many, many clips are shared with the Science Channel's Mammals Vs Dinos.
The work provides examples of:[]
- Anachronism Stew: A few cases, most notably the Eocene Embolotherium in the Oligocene!
- Big Damn Heroes: The Saltasaurus herd (which would work a lot better if there had actually been more story)
- Conspicuous CGI: Really ugly CGI animals, but the PLANTS are even worse!!
- Crapsack World: The K-T extinction produces one of these.
- Epic Fail: The Carnotaurus attacks both the Edmontonia and Saltasaurus - and fails both times.
- Expy: A lot of animals seem to be taken from Walking With Beasts, including Leptictidium (with a similar coloring, no less!), Propalaeotherium, Embolotherium, Indricotherium, Hyaenodon, and Gastornis, while others seem to have been inspired by WWB creatures, like Europolemur and Promacrauchenia
- Feathered Fiend: Diatryma (now called Gastornis
- Follow the Leader: Both Walking with Dinosaurs and Walking With Beasts.
- Misplaced Wildlife: Most egregiously, Edmontonia, named after Edmonton, Canada, in BOLIVIA, of all places!
- Never Smile At a Crocodile: Deinosuchus
- Ridiculously Cute Critter: Adelobasileus, Eomaia, and other unidentified small mammals all qualify.
- Rocks Fall, Everyone Dies: The K-T extinction.
- Science Marches On: Pronated theropod hands.
- Seldom-Seen Species: Adelobasileus, Eomaia, Europolemur, Citipati, Asiacoryphodon, Kritosaurus, Promacrauchenia, Diplocynodon, and Thylacosmilus
- Shown Their Work: The scenes with the Talking Heads and humans. Also, for other things this doc got wrong, Citipati was shown as an egg-brooding feathered dinosaur.
- Somewhere a Paleontologist Is Crying: Often a result of Science Marches On
- Stock Dinosaurs: Coelophysis, Tyrannosaurus, Smilodon, and an unidentified Triceratops and Stegosaurus.
- Stock Sound Effect: Some animal roars are taken from Walking With Beasts
- You Fail Physics Forever: The Tyrannosaurus and Kritosaurus should have been blown away by the megatsunami's pressure long before they got swept up by the tsunami.
