British stand-up comedy show filmed at the Hammersmith Apollo. Debuted in 2004. In the first few series it was presented by comedian Jack Dee (and was named Jack Dee Live At The Apollo) with other comedians as guests. After he left, the host varied from week to week. It has finished airing its fifth series.
Not to be confused with the American syndicated show, Showtime At The Apollo.
Tropes:[]
- Deadpan Snarker: Jack Dee lives, breathes and probably eats this trope.
- Gameplay and Story Segregation: Pointed out by Dara Ó Briain. Why is that internationally famous agent so prone to dying, jumping about randomly and not being able to crouch?
- Guest Host: Since Jack Dee left.
- Literal Minded: Some of Lee Mack's act.
- Loads and Loads of Characters: The cast varies each week.
- My Friends and Zoidberg: Lee Mack noticing all the famous people present in the audience...and Jim Rosenthal.
- The Napoleon: Dee's stage persona.
- 90% of Your Brain: Al Murray, the pub landlord, thinks that beer makes a human tap into this.
- Oop North: Take a sip whenever Jason Manford mentions being from Manchester, you'll be drunk in no time.
- Pungeon Master: Tim Vine, when he's not being Literal Minded.
- Rapid-Fire Comedy: Some of the acts like Tim Vine and Jimmy Carr simply go up and tell jokes rather than tell long observations.
- What Were They Selling Again?: Rich Hall refers to this trope by name when comparing British advertisements to American ones.
