The Mandshake (portmanteau of manly and handshake) is the most masculine meeting of the palms. Normal handshakes involve downward-angled forearms with your fingers placed underneath each other's hands.
This may involve interlocking thumbs or keeping thumbs against one's own forefinger and not interlocking them, clasping like paws. The key aspect is that the 4 fingers wrap the portion of the hand below the thumb (the portion of the hand connected to the radial side of the wrist) instead of around the portion below the pinky finger (the portion of the hand connected to the ulnar side of the wrist). Generally it is manlier not to interlock the thumbs because that is too delicate (and similar to normal handshakes) and this is supposed to be forceful and brutish.
This Handshake Substitute (since shaking is generally not involved, unless it is the vibration of your tensed muscles as your biceps bulge) has upward-angled forearms (like an Arm Wrestling grip, though actually wrestling mid-air without a table is optional) with the fingers placed overtop each other's hands. It is often done with the force of a Crushing Handshake except the bros doing it are so evenly matched nobody is actually hurt, just impressed with each other's virility. Often involves an Unironic Biceps Closeup but may be done with a wide shot or by those with spaghetti arms.
Girls never do this.

- Nanatsu no Taizu (The Seven Deadly Sins, 2014-2015) had Meliodas and Ban do this briefly mid-air, before quickly dropping to the ground, as they were actually setting up for an arm wrestling match.

- Predator has the most well-known example in 1987 when Colonel George Dillon (Carl Weathers) and Major Alan "Dutch" Shaefer (Arnold Schwarzenegger) do it.
- Blood and Treasure actually has the protagonist say to his black friend "predator handshake?" and the camera zooms in on them doing it.
- Mrs. Davis episode 7 features two shirtless male characters doing this, along with the subsequent arm-wrestle. The shorter of the two complains about shifting stance during it.

- Bless the Harts in 24 Nov 2019 episode "Mega-Lo Memories" the grandma and her rival do this when they agree to team up to steal shoes from a fat woman
- Rick and Morty in the 24 Nov 2019 episode "One Crew over the Crewcoo's Morty" Rick does this with a hot woman with weird arms (literally multi-handed Angie Flynt). She also says "you son of a bitch!" which is a tribute to Arnold and Carl's scene in Predator. The YSOAB line is repeated by other characters in the episode but only this lady does the actual hand-clasp to go with it.
- Teen Titans Go! in the 9 June 2016 episode "History Lesson" has "THOSE GUYS" (slaves portrayed by Cyborg and Robin) do it. Their brotherhood is amplified by spitting on their palms first.
- Kingdom Force uses it recurringly
- in "Fire on Wolf Mountain" Diego's dad does this with the bear leader when they agree to co-operate on a bridge.
- in "Danger in Grizzly Valley", Norvyn does it with another bear leader. An observing badger comments on how intense it is.
