  • Don Cheadle replaced Terrence Howard as James Rhodes starting in Iron Man 2.
  • Mark Ruffalo replaced Edward Norton as Bruce Banner in The Avengers.
    • Starting with Thor: Ragnarok, Mark Ruffallo is also this to Lou Ferrigno as the voice of Hulk.
  • John Slattery portrayed Howard Stark from 1970s to the 1990s and by Dominic Cooper in the 1940s.
• Playing Against Type:
  • Mark Ruffalo, SNL alumni and Rom Com veteran, as the Hulk.
  • Before 2011, Chris Evans tended to play jerks with good hearts, as opposed to the upstanding and gentlemanly Captain America.
• Promoted Fanboy: Notably, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury; when Marvel asked for the rights to his likeness for the Ultimate Marvel version of Fury, Jackson said he wanted the chance to play Fury in a movie in exchange.
