This work provides examples of:[]
- Artistic License – Physics: In one episode, insects are lifting a tree trunk with a lever by pushing the shorter arm. This would make necessary force bigger.
- The Complainer Is Always Wrong: This trope applies to Shelby in the CGI animated series.
- Denser and Wackier: This series use of a wide array of various zany cartoon sound effects (mainly from the Warner Bros. and Hanna-Barbera libraries).
- Girly Girl with a Tomboy Streak: Miss Cassandra, Maya's mother figure and bee school teacher.
- Lighter and Softer: Compared to the anime.
- Parental Abandonment: Maya's friends don't have any parents mentioned or seen. Ben has his Uncle Kurt, but that's it. Of course, they are bugs, and insects don't stick around their children for long.
- Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl Willy (savvy guy) and Maya (energetic girl).
- Ship Tease: There are moments where Maya, would kiss Willy on the cheek, as well as some hugs.
- Tomboy and Girly Girl: Maya is a tomboyish, fun-loving bee girl. Miss Cassandra, The Queen, The Nurse and Lara are girly girls.
