The practice of using the same show/band/artwork as an example of several related categories. If a group of entries gain too much of these, it may be a sign that the Lumpers actually were right. These are often very bad examples, as they usually only tangentially apply.

Examples of Multi Category Semi Example include:


  • Pink Floyd and The Beatles are often used as an example of about every genre of psychedelic or progressive rock that's ever been invented.
  • Pretty much every entry about the Fourth Wall had (at some point in the past) the same picture of Deadpool talking to his dialog balloons.
  • "The Ugly Barnacle" is a fifteen-word story from SpongeBob SquarePants, yet has nearly 100 tropes listed for it (many with totally gratuitous spoiler tags).
