On new years eve of 2015, humanity was greeted by the gate. As multiple such dungeons began to pop up all around the world, a battle against these monsters ensued. Five years later in 2020, through many victories and defeats, the awakened beings were finally able to put an end to the great invasion by slaying the great demon king, Asmodeus, a day since commemorated as Victory Day. Monsters have since stopped pouring out from the gates, marking a new era of hunters, who would enter the gates to kill monsters and gather loot to be used as material. Most hunters were awakened beings, i.e. people who surpassed the normal boundaries of humans, and were ranked accordingly to their powers.
When 27 year old hunter Jin Taekyung buys an antique training simulator, the ARK-2020 manufactured by H-SOFT on Victory day, he is thrust into a parallel world of murim, and learns that the skills he gains there transfers back into his real life. He is transmigrated into the body of the youngest son of the prestigious Jin family residing in Taiyuan; A good-for-nothing playboy who's never practiced martial arts in his life.
Murim Login (로그인 무림) is a manhwa published in 2020 on KakaoPage and Kakao Webtoon. It's also being translated into Japanese (ログイン武林) and Chinese (登录武林系统).
For more in-depth information about the series, see its dedicated wiki.
- Auction: After hunters have gathered materials and loots from the monsters they've slain, they eventually sell these resources in an auction house.[1]
- Cosmetic Award: Lots of them. Every time Taekyung learns or accomplishes something, the game will give him one of these achievements.[8]
- Forced Tutorial: In the beginning, Taekyung is weirded out by every quest containing death as a consequence, and tries declining. However, the game informs him he cannot skip tutorial quests and automatically accepts it for him. He still tries declining subsequent confirmation screens, but the game begins ignoring him and just accepts automatically.[5]
- Omni Translation: When Taekyung first enters Murim, he is unable to communicate, since the world of Murim is Chinese, while he only speaks Korean. However the system eventually offers a translation service, and fortunately he accepts to install a translation package, when he is so startled by the sudden appearance of an augmented game screen that he punches it before falling over.[2]
- Perception Filter: Other characters in the game cannot see the game screens that pops up in front of Taekyung, and instead think that he's merely acting weird and staring into the air.[2]
- Trapped in Another World: Jin Taekyung is trapped in the world of Murim until he reaches a sufficient enough level to log out. All skills he gains in Murim transfers over to the real world, but if he dies there he will also die in real life.[2]
