A character in a given situation has to remove his or her clothes in order to avoid detection from the enemy. It could be to go undercover, avoid conflict, to let them lower their guard or even as a matter of survival. Others can use this on their victims to pass through unseen or obscure a target or hostage.

This is not to be confused with an Invisible Streaker, where a subject is actually invisible to the naked eye. Or Defeat by Modesty when their clothes are damaged and incapacitates them. Sometimes a character does this by sacrificing modesty as in Giving Them the Strip though usually it’s during combat. This can be classified as a subset of Dressing as the Enemy in certain situations during The Infiltration though minus any clothing.

This is due to the fact that the opponent is unable to see or register them as a threat or considers them as one of their own. It could also be that their undressed state allows the character to blend in the surroundings say with other naked people. Basically the naked person or another uses their or someone else's nude state to hide an even darker and more sensitive secret.

And could overlap in A Spy at the Spa, depending if the establishment's preference to exposed skin but the constant theme is that a spy is present or someone from outside is working to use the place to their advantage, like gathering information, using it as a place to indiscretion or even to hide.

Anime and Manga[]

Super HxEros uses this trope when the protagonist and his love interest investigate their school where they are shocked to find that an alien mind has used its powers over the school body to make think that nudity is the norm. Those under its influence do not seem perturbed about their exposure, in fact find the protagonist and his partner wearing clothes to be odd. To avoid complication the two are forced to strip down to the skin and carry on as usual school, at least until they locate the alien.
Fairy Tail has Flare Corona after the Grand Magic Games, follows Fairy Tail back to their guild, sneaking into the rebuilt baths with the rest of the female guildmembers. While bathing with her red hair facing the rest of the bathers, Flare is mistaken for Erza until she turns around.
Kekko Kamen: The superhero of the manga operates in her birthday suit only covering her face in a mask.
Kyochuu Rettou has this when a group of students trapped on an island filled with giant insects. When under attack by giant beetles, Naruse remembers from her entomology hobbyist friend Oribe Mutsumi that beetles lick the sweat off humans for minerals. She orders her friends to strip their clothes and wash themselves.
Tama Kick has Ayane a detective going around investigating interested parties. The places she goes to are spas and topless beaches requiring her to strip to blend in.
Lupin the Third Part II, in "Black Panther" to retrieve priceless emerald, Lupin and the gang have to inflitrate the Aegean Sea Club, which is a private beach of nudists.
One Piece, the Strawhats try this in Wano hiding in a bathhouse, but eventually the Beast Pirates search the place.
Cutie Honey Universe has Honey Kisaragi painting her naked body to disguise herself as a statue.
Record of Grancrest War, is a variation of this trope in which Edokia Colorha and her mage Laura lead her men nude against an army of invaders. Somehow the act works and the Nords are confounded by the exhibitionists combined with the already existing rebellion.
Koi Goku no Toshi has Makoto and Yukiko stripping naked and then pretending to have sex in the shower. However they slip away into a secret basement as they are under surveillance.
The first chapter of Tsui no Taimashi ―Ender Geisterー, has an exorcist hunting down an ogre. While the ogre is toying around with several naked women hung like meat, he manages to kill it with relative ease. However he nearly gets his head taken off, as he let his guard down because one of the naked women was actually a witch.
Marginal Service has the beautiful hacker Lyra Candeyheart doing this when she meets an old flame who can help stop a possible alien infiltration of society. But since he doesn’t trust her to allow her into his fortified room, she strips off her clothes in front of her two male companions to show she is weaponless. This is enough to allow her entry but continues into the room alone naked. However her actions were apparently to give her ex-lover eye candy whilst she hide a pistol behind the back of her head in her hair.
Isuca, has when Asano encounters a woman in a trench coat in a dark street, who proceeds to strip it off, revealing a naked body. She then approaches the high-schooler, and he is just frozen in place unsure what to make of the situation, until she hugs him. It could be described as Distracted by the Sexy, as the woman turns out to he a yokai, a centipede woman and is about to eat him before he is saved by a Shimazu.

Resident Alien has a serial killer that takes off his clothes for this very reason as witnesses are too concentrated on his junk rather than his face to identify him.
DC Comics has Batman Confidential #17-18 where Batgirl chases after Catwoman to the entrance of the Gotham Hedonist Society, a nudist club. However its for members only but they could allow her a tour, but the catch is she has to remove her clothes. The guy at the desk doesn't suspect that she is actually a superhero and just assumes it to be a costume. The guests are none the wiser that a hero and villain are in their midst.
God is Dead Issue #20 the city of Apollonia where Baldur and Apollo rule. The city only allows beautiful people in. The inspector has the band strip while he examines their bodies for any imperfections. Later issues reveal that among them are two Greek Gods disguised as mortals.

A sub-trope of this exists in, Conan the Barbarian, in Conan: Island of No Return. One of the Cimmerian's female companions, Venya, strips naked and covers herself in cobwebs to impersonate a ghost to a bunch of rival grave-robbers in a tomb. Due to the location, poor lighting and her ethereal appearance the men buy it and run for their lives.
In Yiu, an assassin takes out a naked prostitute after she uses her bio-metrics to open a vault door containing her target. She then strips her clothes and takes the other woman's role to get close to her target and shoot him.
James Bond 007: Trouble Spot, has Folly Wilde Channing the wife of a deceased American spy, who was sun-worshipper, hid in plain sight to avoid retaliation from her husband's enemies at a Californian nudist resort, Camp Heliotrope.
Storm Clouds has Eve Winters a female alien from the planet Naturn and a member of the Naturism Verification Team for Space Force. She comes to Earth which is a naturist society like her own, but hides her identity as an alien and poses as a student from the Naturist University to locate and defeat a fugitive she is hunting, Textyran.

Alternative Dimensions by AnonymousPerv has Brad and his girlfriend Rebecca using a device to travel to an parallel dimension similar to their own save for the fact that the women are always naked in public and are sexually molested as the norm whenever they are accompanied by a man. To explore this dimension Rebecca submits herself by going nude with Brad and allows him to grope her to blend in. Though due to his inexperience they get suspicious glances, though Rebecca gets comfortable with the treatment, mostly due to the blasherberries she consumes that are attributed to why the women are so submissive to their men and lack of self-respect. Apparently made by ant-feminists to destroy women.
Assault on a Nudist Camp by dreampilot79 has a teen named Jerry Moss who goes to sneak into the Bare Branch Nudist Resort so he can see naked women. After much painful effort he gets over the fence and walks through the forest to reach the resort ground. Takes off his clothes to blend in, but due to his “excitement” he’s easily seen as an outsider and chased out.
Bad Heuristic by FinchAgent has this with Sophie Marsden a stowaway on a space cruise ship. She is apprehended when taking a shower, her clothes confiscated as they were shoplifted and tossed off the space cruise ship, on an alien planet called Roku V. At first fine with her nudity, as she only has to deal with alien eyes, she encounters Joe Granger, Roku V's only human inhabitant. Sophie is offered a way offplanet, but no clothes since Joe likes her as she is. Until his alien debtors the Zilcrons come and capture him. Having never developed the concept of a nudist, they assume Sophie is an animal and Joe's pet due to her lack of clothes. They capture her and put her in a section of their ship reserved for animals. Here the security is lax, allowing Sophie to unlock her cage. After getting some makeshift clothes she finds her way to the brig where Joe and other alien prisoners are held. Though there is a force field that prevents her from entering. After she notices an living vacuum cleaner go through the shield, Sophie realizes that the field doesn't block out animals, or being without any fabrics so she strips to release the captives in their cages.
Black Widows - Book One - The Clone Crisis by HighHeeledJill, has Jackal making a series of clones of Black Widow for sex slaves. One of the accidentally awakens from a tube naked. Coincidentally the real Black Widow arrives to investigate. The clone confused and thinking she is the real super heroine attacks the original and incapacitates her, stealing her equipment and escaping. The real Black Widow unfortunately is found by Jackal’s goons and mistaken for a clone due to being naked, assuming she just got out her her birthing tube.
Brianna's Disguise by LuckyDave1066, has Brianna assuming the identity of a naked masked woman that her husband met in passing. Having seen the photos on his phone, Brianna create a fake email account and since the mysterious woman and her have the same build she uses a wig and mask to impersonate her. Her husband then begins receiving naked sensual photos of her which he starts sharing with his coworkers…until Brianna takes of the mask. His reaction is not seen but he stops sharing the images with his coworkers most likely shocked that the woman he had been admiring and boasting to his associates due to her nudity was his own wife.

Summers tribe is later captured by Frethians who as it turned out had been stunting their humans intectuall evolution by breeding for stupidity, which Summers was among the victims and evidence was presented to the Council.
Endless Naked by Schlank, has Daphne North who is an exhibitionist pretends to be a naked slave to her friend Melissa and have her parade in public naked. She gets a collar with an engraving and fake papers to fool the authorities to engage in her fetish.

Interstellar Agents - Mission 1 by rose362436, has Gabby and Interstellar Agent investigating a primitive world where humans coexist with goblins though the latter domesticates those they captured. This happens to the main character when she was in a goblin village that was being raided by a rival tribe. She had her Clothing Damage, leaving her naked, which the goblins assumed her to be livestock and was taken. It’s obvious that Gabby could escape with some effort, but maintains her nudity and acting as a submissive animal to be undercover to learn of the location of minerals in the goblin territory.
Somewhat played with in Initial Infiltration by manyeyedhydra, PFC Reed Donaldson is a soldier sent to an alien planet to claim it for Earth by force if necessary. While in transport via a spatial doorway, Donaldson gets separated and is alone. He encounters a naked alien elven woman named Utricula on a plant function as an organic bed called a polypomp. Intrigued he approached her and seeing she was scared of his weapon. To avoid irritating the polycomp and join her, he strips his clothes. Though stripping was to allow the plant to accept it, there is a twist in that polycomp is a alien Venus Fly Trap that uses it lure which is Utricula, an extension of itself to attract males so it can breed and harvest his sperm.
The Investigation by HStoner, has two FBI agents going undercover at a nudist resort to gather intel on a possibly dirty car dealership kingpin.
Izzy's Ponygirl Journey by HorseBitOfFun, has a woman named Izzy willingly taking off her clothes to appear as a ponygirl mount for her friend Grall so as to be able to traverse through goblin territory safely.
Jack and Jill's Parallel World Trip by MeatBeat117, has siblings Jack and Jill using the latter's invention to travel to a parallel world where everyone has sex all the time. The Naked Countess by SteamyCloud, where Earth makes contact with an alternate world called Sanflaria, where women are compelled to walks naked. A smuggler operation allows for a crossing between worlds illegally, which a Sanflarian noblewoman needs in order to cross the borders of reality in order to locate her cousins who has gone missing on Earth. The Nudist Slave Resort by BDSMGROMIT, has a male run nudist resort which actually is a front for men to bring women and enslave them using drugs and condition. A woman and her daughter fall prey to their the murderer of the father, who forcibly makes the mother marry him and her and her daughters becoming his sex slaves and taught clothes were sin forcing them to walk naked. A small complement from the ship manages to escape in a small ship and crash lands on the planet Prize inhabited by the Normen. A Normen hunting party is close to the crash site. Gerrod the android from the hospital ship strips off his own skin to be as naked as the Normen to blend in while his companions Sharon Green and Polly strip naked to pretend to be his slaves as being nude is the norm for humans under the dominion of the androids. Though Gerrod betrays the women by selling Polly and taking Sharon as a real slave.

American Burger a nerd pretends to be dead to avoid being killed by men who slaughter people for burger men. He maintains this even when his clothes are cut off and only the conveyer belt to the butcher. This tactic actually works and manages to convince the butcher he is Canadian this not fit to be made into an American burger.
The Beast That Killed Women (1965), Miss Johnson a police officer goes undercover at a nudist resort to kill a beast.
Birder (2023) has a supposed birdwatcher who infiltrates a queer nudist camp in the woods. Unknown to the campers he’s a psychopath killer using sex and charisma to lure his victims into his web.
Black Sunday (1977), has Dahlia Iyad being caught nude and vulnerable in the shower, leading her to cover her breasts when Israeli counter-terrorist Mossad agent named Major David Kabakov barges in seeking the Palestinian terrorist group Black September. Diary of a Nudist (1961), newspaper editor Arthur Sherwood is on a hunting trip when he accidentally stumbles upon a nudist camp in the woods. He is very much shocked by this and decides to send reporter Stacy Taylor to the camp so she can write an expose on the camp and have it shut down.
Emmanuelle and the Last Cannibals (1977) has Emmanuelle stripping naked and painting a tribal symbol on her to save her friend from being sacrificed by a cannibal tribe in the Amazon. Her coming out of the water, fools the tribe into thinking she is a goddess to allow Emmanuelle to extract her friend.
Freaks of Nature has this when aliens invade a town inhabited by humans, zombies and vampires. A trio realizes that the aliens can only see inorganic materials, such as their synthetic clothing. So they strip and run to the nearest house avoiding the aliens.
Garden of Eden (1954), war widow and pre-teen daughter leaves home of a tyrannical father-in-law in Florida, gets lost on a detour, and finds shelter at a nudist colony.
Hideout in the Sun (1960) has two brothers that just robbed a bank hide out in a nudist colony.
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen has the Invisible Man, in order to be seen he wears make-up and a trench coat. However during an ambush, he uses his drink to wash his face and strips of his coat to avoid gunfire to hide as an Invisible Streaker.
In the animated film Mulan, the female protagonist pretending to be a man in the army is taking a dip in a lake. However she isn’t alone and three other soldiers go in stripping as well. To avoid being found out, Mulan has to stay naked in the water, at chest level, to maintain her cover as a man, until her companion Mushu scares the men away thinking he is a snake.
Invisible Boy in Mystery Men. He only turns invisible when no-one looks at him, and any clothes he wears will still be visible, meaning he has to be naked and no-one watching him in order for his power to work. It still turns out to be a useful power in order to sneak past security systems.
Naked Comes the Huntress (1978), a woman in Mongolia named Mien Mien or Mink Girl applies a particular method of hunting minks as a huntress. She strips down nude and lays on the cold snow, vulnerable and cold, apparently minks can't resist warming a body, which the huntress takes advantage of their kindness to trap and net them.
The Naked Fugitive (1995) where a thief steals a large diamond and hides out at a nudist camp where he finds true love and the police.
Nature's Playmates (1962), Diana and her private detective boss are hired by a wife whose husband has gone missing. The wife believes that her husband is at a nudist camp in Florida so Diana and her boss must go undercover to try and find him.
The Pleasure Spa (2013), two cops Mike Mathis and Tommy Hall go undercover as clients of a spa that is secretly operating as a brothel. They go in with only towels and get massage and sex to get close with the women.
The Possession of Hannah Grace, has a naked corpse of Hannah Grace is brought to a morgue for processing. Aside from the corpse looking like it is in pristine condition, the staff and EMTs don't think much of it, until the protagonist sees from the security cameras that it is moving through the halls. Turns out the naked corpse is possessed by a demon who kills to gain power to regenerate itself.
The Predator (2018) of Alien vs. Predator franchise, has Casey Brackett stripping her clothes off in the decontamination showers when the captive Yautja break free and goes on a killing spree of the research facility. Seeing her kneeling and naked without any clothes and weapons is enough for the alien hunter to ignore and spare her.
The Prince And The Nature Girl (1965), has a prince of a fictional country secretly employed as a working man in case of being overthrown, as and stays at a nudist resort. He has a crush on his co-worker who is also a member of the resort but she has no interest. Her twin sister though does and disguises herself using a wig to make the prince mistake her for his crush.
Repli-Kate, the clone of a woman escapes a lab on campus before her creator gets a handle. Problem is that she’s naked and is seen by two college kids. Though they assume she’s just streaking and not a science project gone wrong.
Rogue Nudist (1970) a British comedy film that has Merwyn following his female coworker to Sunny Days Nudist Camp and later signs up in hopes of seeing her naked with unexpected results.
Sandy, the Reluctant Nature Girl (1964), a young woman finds out that her boyfriend has been lying to her about where he spends his weekends. She hires a private detective to follow him, and discovers that he has joined a nudist camp. She then goes for herself to see him.
Slaves Don't Need Visas by hoggle123, Melissa having moved to the African slave country of Grabesh with her boyfriend Arbek is about to be turned away by the border police due to lacking a visa. However since slaves don't need visas, as they are property, Arbek convinces Melissa to pretend to be his slave so she can cross the border. Melissa strips and plays the role of a slave but things get complicated when the government repossess her and she actually gets Made a Slave. (Was adapted into an actual novel series under the name The Making of a Slave by Damian Conway)
The Take (2016), Michael Mason, a pickpocket in Paris at the beginning of the movie hires a beautiful woman to walk naked in the streets, serving as a Distracted by the Sexy, as he robs several pedestrians too engrossed in her nudity.
Unashamed: A Romance (1938), Barbara Pound, a heiress of a patent medicine company, who had a dalliance with a married royal, becomes the center of attention by news reporters that harass her. Having enough of the badgering, Barbara changes her name to Barbara Smith, takes a trailer with her maid Emma, to a distant secluded fenced area, which turns out to be a private nudist camp. Due to the pair sunbathing nude, they are mistaken for fellow nudists.

A Dangerous Con by I. Binder, Sarah and her partner in crime Amy are con artists who have a unique scam. One is sold as a naked slave to a buyer. Money is collected while one of the women are taken. Though unknown to the buyer the woman’s shackles are custom made that enable them to free themselves in a certain way. That was the would be slave escape confinement and keep the money. And then they repeat the scam to another slave owner.
Adventures Without Clothes: An Anthology of the Best Naturist Adventure Stories, as has story by P.Z. Walker called Cretaceous Curiosity, where scientists brought back a Giganotosaurus carolinii to life. It escapes and hides in the forest, evading the team of hunters sent to recapture it. Eventually a couple of naturist figure out that the dinosaur can easily smell the hunters clothes and by going nude they can become invisible to its sharp nose.
Bare & Bold: The Global Expansion, two spies from a rival nudist company infiltrate Bare & Bold branch in Amsterdam.
Behind Her Eyes by A.G. Finch, takes place in a dystopia future where all citizens are tracked via chips implanted on them and also in microchips embedded within their clothes. The protagonist, Zoe decides to defect to the Resistance and in order to do so, she makes contact with a Resistance hacker who guides to cut out her chip, and to a empty train where a set of unbugged clothes exist. However a robot assumed them to be trashed and disposed of them. Even so Zoe is urged to proceed and the girl has to remove all her clothes to avoid being traced. Saving grace there is a heatwave, avoiding, a You Must Be Cold situation. Since drones in the city only perceive microchips Zoe is invisible. While heading to the Resistance base, she manages to find a poster to wrap her body with but its short-lived when she attracted the attention of the officials of the regime and is mistaken for a public escort. During her stay in enemy HQ she learns that there is a traitor in the Resistance, and by luck she manages to capture the traitor by Shameful Strip, leaving both of the Naked People Trapped Outside until Zoe marches her captive to her allies.

Carter (2018), has this in "Harley Insisted On Wearing Pants" where Dave goes undercover at a nudist resort to solve a murder.

Though she maintains she was only being free with not just her body but mind, posing as an Innocent Fanservice Girl, Kuzak the defense lawyer does some digging and finds out she is more like a Shameless Fanservice Girl and a schemer. She had infiltrated the colony to specifically entice young boy to play naked wiffle ball so to get the lawsuit in court so to pressure the owner to sell.
The Naked Truth in “The Spa” has Nora and friends going to a health spa to get a picture of a celebrity for the paper, but are shocked to find it is a nudist resort. Since Nora lied lied about being a couple with one of her colleagues, she and the others donated to get in to get the picture so as not to draw attention.
True Blood, in "The Fourth Man in the Fire," Sam a shapeshifter blows off steam by shapeshifting into a Collie and goes on a run in the woods. When he changes back into a human, naked he is spotted by the Sheriff. Later when questioned as to why he was running naked in the woods, Sam lies about being a shapeshifter saying nudity was his lifestyle as grew up in a naturist community. However it fails after the Sheriff checks with the naturist community.

- "The Adversary," the Host Maeve having awoken from the labs realizes her role as a android made as entertainment at a theme park. Later when Sylvester finds out what his coworker is doing, he becomes a reluctant ally as well, mostly due to coercion by Maeve. To avoid being found out, Maeve strips naked so as to avoid questions of why she is dressed by others, while she continues to interrogate the technicians on her full capabilities as an constructed being.
- In "Trompe L'Oeil", After making some alterations to herself, Maeve is returned to the Park but arranges for her death to be returned for repairs to talk to Felix. Laid out naked and being repaired, the female technician remains unaware that her charge is plotting something with Felix. Later she walks naked with Felix through the labs to find her friend Clem. A Host walking naked in the labs isn't odd apparently so long as they are accompanied by a technicians doing tests.
- And again in "Trace Decay" Maeve uses an accident to return to repairs to get answers to her visions from Felix and Sylvester.
- In "Bicameral Mind" Maeve returns to the labs under the guise of needing repairs to enact her plan to escape the Park, by creating allies, by giving them the ability to become awake and aware they are being used as slaves. While they pretend to stay asleep for the technicians are buzzing about their naked bodies to repair them, the newly converted Armistice and Hector then rebel and kill them.
- In "The Winter Line," Maeve having been taken to be fixed up again, reawakens naked in Warworld. She feigns being off long enough for a technician to walk away and her ally Felix to look the other way.

Lily ruse works as she kneels like a still statue in front of the woman, until the woman notices the shrunken woman blink.

Upon being captured their clothes raise some questions as humans normally don't wear clothes so they are stripped.
