Noriko Hidaka (birth name Noriko Ito, married name Noriko Nagai; born May 31, 1962) is a seiyu from Tokyo, most famous as Mikage Matsunaga (Miracle Girls), Minami Asakura (Touch), Akane Tendo (Ranma ½), Satsuki Kusakabe (My Neighbor Totoro), Near (Death Note), Sēta Sojiro (Rurouni Kenshin), Jean (Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water), Kikyo (Inuyasha), and Noriko Takaya (Gunbuster).
As you can see, she has a a good range from GenkiGirls to Cute Shotaro Boys to Yamato Nadeshikos. She says Akane is the character she identifies with most, as she was, like Akane, a tomboy who enjoys martial arts and working out.
Hidaka was already popular as an Idol Singer before transitioning to voice acting. As of 2024, she hasn't released an album of new material in 30 years, but has continued to sing, even forming a trio called "backdrops" in 2015 with Wakana Yamazaki and Naoko Matsui. She released a 40-song greatest-hits collection in 2020.
Now in her 60s, she reprised one of her best-known roles, Akane Tendo, in the rebooted Ranma 1/2 TV anime in 2024.
