Obsidian Bride (흑요석의 신부) is a 2023 manhwa written by V0RA and Chung purm, and illustrated by Team Quartz. You can read it on Webtoons in either the original Korean (Naver Series) or translated into English, French, Spanish, Indonesian, Thai, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese or Japanese.
For all her life, poor Lueri has been hanging by a thread, and the situation doesn't get any better when she is forced into an unwelcome marriage. But by miracle or design, a magical invitation presents her with a way of escaping her loveless life -- by joining the empire’s Jewel Box. There, among the brilliant gemstones, she finds help in the unlikeliest of places, friends from the unlikeliest of crowds, and perhaps, something she’s been desperately yearning for until now -- true love.
The 'Jewel Box' is created to end the era of political marriages. Participants are transformed, with their appearance completely changed, to match the jewel assigned to them and the goal is for them to find their "True Love"
- Masquerade Ball: All participants of the jewelry box receive disguised identities with matching aesthetics based on gemstones.[4]
- Rock Theme Naming: All participants hide their real names by using a new ID based on precious minerals and gemstones, such as Obsidian and Alexandrite.[4]
- Love Triangle: Plenty, because it's a dating game show.
- Alexandrite and Platinum are interested in Obsidian. Platinum wavers once Amber enters the picture, but returns to being interested in Obsidian once he learns Amber's identity. Then add Star Sapphire, and you have three guys who joined because they're actually interested in Marianne, who was last season's Pink Diamond.
- Pearl and Amethyst are interested in Garnet.
- Body Double: When Pink Diamond suddenly disappeared, Obsidian was recruited to act in her place without letting other people know of the original's absence.
- Blue Blood: All of the participants are either from the nobility or full-blown royals themselves.
